We had to completely re do the wireless system, and the Dell laptop never functioned properly - we replaced it not long ago. And, the notebook came in the wrong color with the wrong battery type, not those we specified. When a junior team member was having problems with the wireless printer setup, he called his boss (the owner of the company) for advice. To our surprise, a 'consulting fee' for this phone call appeared on our invoice. A true disappointment that had lasting repercussions and added cost. I wish I had Angie's List at the time to avoid this type of mistake!
Description of Work: The provider attempted to provide wireless service into our home, to connect a wireless printer and to order and set up a desktop system and notebook.

Ms. [member name removed] account of the transactions of four years ago is rife with errors and misinformation. First of all, the work was completed on 8/20/10, not 5/3/10 (we have the invoices for your review.) She verified to me that the wireless network was working properly at the conclusion of our work. We have records of calling her 12 times over the past four years where she could have let us know of the problems she was having so we could have addressed her issues. We researched and discovered a bug in the Vista operating system on her old laptop that was not fixed by Microsoft, and we advised her of her options. When she discovered that Dell had shipped her a new laptop with Windows 7 in the wrong color, she approved of the delivery or else we would have shipped it back. On 8/19/10, my consultant could not contact me since I was at a doctor’s appointment. That time was not billed to Ms. [member name removed]; we also did not bill her for the time she took to unsuccessfully look for the documentation for her Buffalo server that was causing the problem with the wireless printer. Also, at no charge, we researched and found the documentation online then used that information to fix the printing issue. The total bill for the work that was completed on 8/20/10 for which she willingly paid was $652.16, not the $3K she stated. Again, we would have been happy to take care of her issues had she replied to any one of the 12 calls we made to her.

Ease of setting up appoinment, timely and experienced tech. Ease of communication was a plus.
Description of Work: We had our computers updated and serviced and were pleased with the entire experience. Competent, timely, courteous and knowledgable. The company has introduced a new "Computer Wellness Program" that is a great plan and we are signed up ! Not sure if anyone else offers such a plan, but we think it is an innovative useful idea.

The clerc Co advertises a 50% off for first itme customer. The people at clerc apparently did not tell the tech that we should get a 50% off. He was surprised but went along with it and we paid him $67 for the hour he was here. I got a call 5 days later to ask if I was satestfied. I did not have time to really use the PC enough to check out eveything, but said it looked OK so far. He put a patch of some sort on the windows live photo so I could send photos out of the windows live photos. But I still couldn't download my photo to my PC where I could find them. So I called for a re-do. He came, noodled around in my PC. An alert for a update popped up and he asked me if I wanted to download it., asked me first and then installed a lengthy update.(I did not know how long it was going to take but he should have known) I could have done that after he left. He took a long time to search through a the files and clicked on some stuff. He never told me what he was doing or why and what I should do it it happens again..(Side bar: I mention the last statement to the Clearc lady (Glenda Clerc) and she said with an attitude, "No we don't have to tell our client what we do or how." While we were waiting for the updates, I asked him if my designs from PM 12 and 16 would still be in my files if I had ininstalled them becasue I was using PM18.3. He should have known but had to test PM which was not on my needs but we were still wainting for install updates to finish. Then while we were still waiting, I asked hime about my IPOD and he helped me get a new password because it failed while he was here(but not his fault) I coulds have done that after he left. So the updates still haven't finished and I told him he didnt' have to stay. but he said he wanted to make sure they were done correctly. After he left, I had a blinking pop up ad that appeared over my upper left corner of my att e-mail page. I didn't call them to complain about that problem becauswe I had realized that this tech didn't really know what he was doing. (by the way I fixed it by reading and digging through suggestions that this as a common occurance after a windows update). Even the SAP tech didn't know how to get rid of that problem. JCH of Clerc left after the re-do, I called glenda to complain and she didn't answer because she was probably getting getting his side of the story. Then she called back and had an unpleasant attitude and tone defending him. I told her I asked for a re-do....not all the stuff he did. He never explained anything and was happy to run his clock up. I also told her that I could get a years contract with McAffee for $167/year and I had already spent $190 with Clerc. I let her know that I was over charged. I used to be in a very difficult customer service job and I know that glenda would have been fired for treating a client the way she treated me. but then I think she is marriedy to Don clerc I told her that I was going to call Angies's list and file a compalint. She siid, "Oh, just go ahead and file and we'll deal with Angie's list(insinuating that they really didn't need you and it didn't matter.) Then on 5/30/11 I had a SAP tech look at my PC. In one hour he checked my files and could see that I had 4 "my picture" files that were dupilcatied..hence I couldn't find anything or down load photos to a place that I could find them. So with my OK he deleted three of the my pict files. And just in case he made a new file called"my pictures 2" to protect from accidently deleting all my photos. Then he asked me how I wanted to view "my pictures" and showed me several choices and I choose the one I was used to. Then he showed me how to take my individual photos that were mis-labels and in a recent download of a geneogly photos and showed me how to move them to a appropiiate file and then delete the incorrectly labed file.
Description of Work: I called Clerc Comp. to send someone experienced in photo storage and fixing files and send photos in aWindows live mail.. Also , I have a problem sending photos out of windows live(which is really a window defect I have experienced and he should have known that) He manualy moved the contacts one at a time(time consuming) from my att.net e-mail over to windows live. The tech(gch) came the same day of the request.

On April 25th, the member called our office requesting an appointment to connect her computer to the Internet and learn how to send photos via e-mail. We dispatched one of our consultants right away to see her that afternoon. Jim fixed her e-mail problems, showed her how to e-mail photos, how to post to Facebook, and started a backup. She had one of our “First Hour Free” coupons, so she paid for only 30 minutes for that appointment. As per our standard procedures, we called her two days later and she said that she thought all problems were solved. We called her two weeks later to check up and left a message. A month later, the member called us requesting another appointment; Jim went out there on May 24th. When helping her with her photos, he found photos in many locations throughout the hard drive. He suggested that he reorganize her photos, and she agreed. At her request, he also tested her PrintMaster software and helped her reset her iTunes password. As we do with all our customers, he made sure all Windows Security Updates and Service Packs were installed. The installation of Windows 7 Service Pack 1 takes different amounts of time on different computers based on CPU speed, disk speed and fragmentation, and number of updates already applied. It is our policy at Clerc Computer Consulting to teach the customer whatever they want to learn; some people want to learn more about how to take care of their computers, while others just want us to fix the problems. We are happy to help each customer in whatever way they want.

Glenda Clerc worked with my husband several times to get exactly what he wanted at a price he was happy with. Don brought it over, got everything set up, and then worked on my computer which had been giving me problems. We were very happy with the experience.
Description of Work: My husband needed a new computer and was not happy with those in the stores which already have software loaded on them (and for which you pay for) that he did not need. He decided to have Clerc Computer Consulting arrange to have one built to his specifications. Also, Don Clerc has great expertise in setting up new computers, getting them "wired" into one's network (we have fiberoptics), and answering any questions you have.

They were able to respond to my request within a reasonable time. After they left, I thought I still had one remaining problem. They returned to my house before I could figure out that I did not really have a problem.
Description of Work: My computer was getting older and regularly hanging up. They came in and cleaned up old files/programs and answered some "odds and ends" questions I had.

My email had crashed on my computer so I called Clerc Computers. They were fabulous, and they are very prompt in getting my email back up and running. I have used them in the past, and they are very reliable, knowledgeable, and good to make suggestions to make things easier for me. The technicians are very knowledgeable, and I am pleased with the hourly rate.
