CJS Construction

Things were excellent. The project leader (the owner of the company) was very professional and personal, and he was very attentive to my issues. He was very communicative, and he was great.

I must have called at least twenty contractors trying to find someone to repair three wooden windows for me and could not find anyone that would take the job before I spoke to CJS. All of the handymen turned down the job and the window guys all wanted to replace my windows with new vinyl ones (which I didn't want; I wanted to repair my existing wooden windows to match the rest of my home). I finally posted a "help wanted" ad on Craig's List to which Carlos Santos (owner of CJS Construction & Remodeling) replied to within 5 minutes of my posting. He was at my house giving me an estimate less than an hour later. Carlos and his helper (I do not recall his name) gave me the estimate late Friday afternoon and started work the following Tuesday. They completed all work on site and on time. They did not require supervision or handholding unlike most contractors I have hired in the past. They also did a great job at taking care of my home during their work as they laid took off their shoes whenever they came inside, laid down painter's tarps and carefully removed window treatments (mini-blinds and drapes on two windows and plantation shutters on the third) before working. I also inadvertently left my wallet (which had $200 cash inside) on the desk in front of one of the windows they repaired and Carlos returned it to me. He appears to be a very honest and good man, which isn't surprising given that he refers to a bible passage (Joshua 1:9) on his business card. As for the scope of the work, they removed all three windows, replaced rotten wood (which required extensive millwork to match) with treated wood, sanded, caulked and then painted the windows inside and out once they were reinstalled. They also replaced several rotten boards on the back of my garage, matched the paint color using wood they had removed and then repainted to match. I would not hesitate to recommend CJS to anyone needing similar work done as Carlos and his partner are very capable, punctual, professional and honest.
