They were prompt and thorough. They were professional about sealing around all vents and installed attic vents including a solar powered attic fan(purchased by owner)

They are CHEAP, you do get what you pay for. If you are willing to be onsite and PM the project yourself (assuming you know what to look for) you can get one heck of a deal on a new roof. Don't rely on them for timely communication or to get it all done on their own. The new roof was part of a real estate transaction, unfortunately communication with the company resulted in shingles that are not on the State Farm approved list. Not enough ridge vent was applied to pass the home inspection. The gutters were supposed to be completely removed as they were completely rusted out, only some of them were taken down. The installation is decent, they left some rotted fascia board up that was supposed to have been replaced as part of the roof replacement and there were 2 leaks in the roof. Leak 1 was at the vent pipe for the heater - it wasn't attached correctly. After the first round trying to get them out to fix it I climbed on the roof and saw that the vent pipe was cockeyed and fixed it myself. Leak 2 is around the Chimney. In October I started calling the company to have someone out. 3 weeks into trying to get someone out I had a family emergency and dropped the issue. In December I called again and never got a callback. In late May I started calling regularly. After a week I was able to get someone out to take a look (Sat 5/31). He said he would be out the following Monday to fix the leak and the rotted board they missed. Monday - no show and no call. Mid week - called again to find out what was going on. Apparently the only guy that does warranty work's truck was in the shop. Scheduled for Friday or Sat. - No show. Tuesday - called to see what was up. More excuses and I was and quot;next on the listand quot; He would absolutely be there Wednesday am. Wednesday - no show. Called and didn't get a callback. Thursday called - supposed to be out on sat. no show sat called - no callback Monday called - more excuses - supposed to be out Tuesday Tuesday - no show. Wednesday callback - no return call Thursday - callback and callback and callback until he actually returned my call. Excuses about the worker being at the free clinic and it taking a long time. He swears someone will be out tomorrow. Somehow I doubt it. Update late June. A different worker came out and had no idea what the problem was. Had to go through the whole thing again. They re-caulked around the chimney and told me to call if it leaked. It leaked. Update as of 7/2 There have been more missed appointments and his worker that does repairs seems to always have his truck in the shop. I'm going to have to have another roofer out to do the work. This is beyond ridiculous. Late August Update: They missed the Friday appointment and showed up to fix the roof while my wife and I were out on saturday AM with only my 15 year old son at home. he said they were here for 20 min or so and there was a little banging on the roof. I don't think they tested it. 9/19 - Torrential rains in Houston, not only is the original leak flowing on the west end of the chimney, now there is a leak on the east end of the chimney. One last call to Charlie, let him know this is his last chance after 12 months trying to get this fixed. Time to get someone in here that can fix it and he can pay the bill. Changing the rating from an A on price to an F, it would have been cheaper to get a real roofer in the first place, initial quotes to rip the chimney area out and and quot;do it correctlyand quot; are $2500.

We purchased a house built in 1948 that had about 2-3 years left on the existing roof. We decided to go ahead and start fresh with a new one. After getting quotes from about four roofers, our Realtor suggested Charlie Roofing. He had by far the lowest quote ($4350 for a 1300 sq foot house). He was easy to schedule, his men came out on time and did the job fast while we were at work, so we never saw them, but came home to a beautiful new roof. Since he ordered too many shingles, he actually sent us a check to refund us for the difference, which was very honest. Highly recommended.

This company was a pleasure to deal with. I appreciated their pricing approach. It was very competitive and to the point. There was no need to haggle as I felt I got the best price from the git go.

They did a good job. The price was excellent. I liked them. They gave good service. I would recommend them. Their quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism were good. I am planning on using them again in about four to five years.

I had used Charlie's roofing before. They did their usual great job. Replaced the vent fan and now it works great! Very easy to do business with. Their estimates always accurate. They never leave a mess.

The company offerd a bid that was substantially lower than contractors based in the Kingwood area. Gary will not schedule a job if there is any chance of rain. I find that to be a great comfort versus a contractor who wishes to rush a job. They use top quality supplies and his crews do an incredible job during all phases of construction. The crew moved all items from our patio that could potentially be damaged and replaced them befoe they left. The job site was cleaned completely and the supervisor checked in with me before the crew left on the second day. Payment was not expected nor requested until after the job is complete and we were 100% satisfied.

Charlie's Roofing, was recommended to us by our real estate agent. We asked him to come out 1/31/12 and give us an estimate on some roofing issues on a house we were buying. He was late for that. Our agent had to call him to find out where he was. Once he got there, we told him of the issues the inspector found concerning the roof. He gave us an estimate of $2500.00. After buying the house on 2/23/12 we called Charlie to do the repairs. He told us he would contact his men to come out on Saturday 2/25/12. He never told us what time to expect them on Saturday. We had to call him to find out if the team was even on the way. They arrived @ 10:30. That being said, the actual job went smoothly and was finished in 1 day! All questions I had were answered by the team supervisor to my satisfaction. The crew finished up, and did a nice job cleaning up after themselves. They even cleaned the roof of all pine needles and leaves and blew off the debris from the patio. They drove off @ 6:30. Charlie gave us one year on the repair. Where Charlie fails at in my opinion is communication. When trying to balance all the remodeling and things to be done, it would be appreciated to get calls back so we would not have to waste time needed elsewhere.

Gary met us on time for the estimate on my friend's house in Houston. His was $2000 less than the closest competition and $5000 less than the highest. I checked out the BBB and some others in the neighborhood and those reports were good. We were trying to get the house ready for the Realtor. We scheduled for start on Monday. As the start time approached, the weather reports were for a bad storm on Tuesday so I called to suggest we delay the start. He said he had already cancelled another job and was going to put both crews on our house and would finish on Monday. He did, they did, and the house looked great. He even put on more ridge vent than originally planned for no extra charge. We can't recommend him highly enough.

Contracted with company, low bid, to remove old roof and install new. Crew arrived promply and completed in 1 day. Being home, I noticed that they did not remove old tar paper before placing new paper on decking. Cleanup was adequate but not good. After several days, I noticed shingles popping up. After climbing in the attic, I saw decking destroyed. Took a while for owner to respond, but he finally did after involvement from Angie's List. Type of decking on home does not respond well to roofing nails and 20 year shingles, resulting in nails pushing up the shingle. Crew did come back to pull nails out of decking, push shingle down, and repaired some decking. Owner assured me that if shingles continue to pop up that he would take care of it. Also, wife noticed additional decking in attic that was destroyed. Have not heard from him.

I received three quotes for my roof using the same, Owens-Corning 25 (30? - I'd have to go look it up) year shingle. I have approximately 2000 square foot house with an attached garage/workshop that probabaly adds another 1000 square feet. My first two quotes were from highly rated roofers on Angies List, and they were within $100 of each other. Charlie Roofing was referred to me by my brother-in-law who had used them for his mother-in-law's house and was very pleased. I almost passed on calling Charlie Roofing since there wasn't much info for them on Angies List. Boy, would that have been a mistake. Charlie Roofing quoted me the exact same Owens-Corning shingle as the other two roofers for $2000 less - that's right - $2000 less than the other guys. Plus, he didn't charge as much for the ridge vents that I wanted. This naturally made me very suspicious, but I decided to and quot;roll the diceand quot; and try them. Wow - they showed up when they said they would, they were fast, they were skilled, they were professional, and they cleaned up very well when they were finished. Everything went very well and I highly recommend them. When the job was done, I asked their rep why there was so much difference between his quote and the other two companies. He told me that a lot of roofers inflate their price based on the zip code / area of town they are working in. I'm in what's considered a relatively and quot;affluentand quot; area (medical center area) and he thinks that's the reason the other companies upped their quotes. Maybe so - all I know is that these guys did great work and I saved $2000 to boot!

Contracted Charlie's Roofing to tear off old shingles and apply new roof(20 year) based on competitive bid and research. Since installation crew did not remove old tar paper before applying new paper, they must not have realized wood decking was 4" by 6' sheets not the larger decking. Afterwards, I began to notice that shingles were popping up. Owner responded that nails must have missed the wood and 20 year shingles should be applied with staple gun due to thickness. He stated that he would come by and repair as needed which he did at first. Also, after going up in attic, I noticed some of the decking was tore up. Again, he responded intially but has not returned again after several requests. Could not recommend him and will not use him again.

I spent about $10000 on the job. I also had them use decking that had a radium barrier on it. I think their quality was okay. I think they can improve a little bit in the areas of communication and returning phone calls. They need to get the information back to the home owner. There wasn’t anything horribly bad with them. I just wish they were a little bit more responsive. I will not consider them again in the future.

Wonderful! I called them the afternoon after hurricane Ike and they came out Tue night about 7pm! For 1/3 less than another, good, Angie's list company was going to charge for patching and a CD of pictures, they fixed everything! They are working dawn to dusk every day and are bringing in additional crews. The crew chief, Crecencio Perez has been with them 14 years and is nice, honest and a good communicator. Very honest. When I asked when the roof would need to be replaced (it's 10-14 years old) he could have easily convinced me to have them replace it in 6 mo-1yr after they finished everyone's urgent work. Instead he said 3-4 YEARS more life.

They returned my call and though they couldn't do the work (due to asbestos tiles). They spent time on the phone making recommendations to help my plight!

Charlie roofing provided me an initial all cost quotation upon my inquiry. This response was very competitive; however, it was not the lowest response I received. I talked with them concerning my desires as to the roofing shingle to use and a means to lower overall energy costs for my home. They provided excellent advice and choices. Start of the job was delayed due to the Dec Holidays. Initial co-ordination for conducting the job was challenged in that Charlie Roofing was not proactive in contacting me. However, on start day the materials arrived promptly followed by a 15-man crew a half hour later. The crew completed the job in under 2-days; really hussled. Very professionally done with protection for my pool and AC units. A few pieces of shrubbery suffered from loss from falling shingles. Clean-up overall was good. Resultant roof looks square, straight, and professional. Well pleased with the results and the value. I would use them again.

The composition shingles were delivered a few days prior to the commencement of the job. The crew arrived on the day we agreed on and finished the job in one day. Cleaned up after themselves and left no trace of debris.

Charlie Roofing did a great job for me. The clean up went well with no nails left in the driveway. They had all the tools and equipment to do the work correctly. They have also done siding work on my home. They were honest reliable people who stick to their bids.

Charlie Roofing is a family owned company and has been in business over twenty-five years. They gave me the best bid on my roof and stuck to that price. The shingles used were "Elks Pristine" and they are guaranteed for twenty five years. I am really happy with the appearance of my roof.
