Description of Work: Do not ever use this company. They lie, compulsively and never keep their word. I had a patio fence made by them. They did make it, about 6 months after their estimate after multiple complaints. I also had a separate fence half paid for and they had just disappeared. I have lost my deposit, no one is picking up the calls and I suspect I will never get my money back.

I called Mario, the owner of Builders Iron and told him about the damage to our gate. He set up an appointment to evaluate the problem and after looking at our unit confirmed the main board of the gate had been damaged by the lightning strike. He said the part was under warranty and the gate manufacturer mandates a 6 week part replacement under warranty but he could get us a new board within a week or two. He told us up front that the part was going to be free due to warranty coverage but he was going to have to charge us for both the initial service appointment and the installation appointment, a total of a $130. It seemed weird that the appointment to evaluate our problem cost the same amount as the hour it took to do the actual work but at that point I just wanted my gate fixed. The gate was fixed and the contractor was paid. Two weeks later our gate stopped working. I called Mario right away and asked him to look at the problem since this too would seemingly be covered by our warranty. Despite calling Mario more than 8 times and making 5 separate appointments for either Mario or one of his workers to come look at our gate no one ever showed up. I would sooner sell my gate for scrap before I would have anyone from Builder's Iron come work on it again.
Description of Work: In late August our house suffered a lightning strike. One of the things that was damaged was our gate opener. It functioned properly for about 5 hours following the strike and then just plain died. Our house is approximately a year and a half old and I knew the gate opener was under warranty. I knew the sub-contractor our builder used to install the gate so I figured I would use Builders Iron of Houston to fix our gate since they had familiarity with the install and maybe still had the paperwork pertaining to our warranty.

They said that they would try to work me in the same day as my call - or worse case they would be there first thing in the morning the next day. I stayed home from work to be there to let them in/pay for the services. No one ever called to say they couldn't come nor did they show up. I called first thing the next morning to verify that they were indeed going to show up in the morning. The woman said that they couldn't come in the morning and that the owner apologized for not showing up the day before but they would definitely be by at some point during the day and would call 1 hour beforehand. At close to 4pm, I called the office and the woman called the owner to check on timing. She said that he would be there by 5pm and that he was absolutely going to be there today. 5pm came and went. No phone call and no one showed up. In addition, no one has called me since. I would not recommend this company as they lack professionalism, punctuality, and their prices aren't that great.
Description of Work: Called company to come repair my wrought iron gate. Literally the fix would take 5-10 minutes as it was just welding a clip back on. They had a 2 hour minimum at $90/hr but the person who took the call checked with the manager and said that they would only charge me $90.

I had 2 break-ins (yes, we have an alarm system and use it) through the glass in my double front doors within a 3 week period...robber broke out the glass and walked right in. I love the doors and did not want to replace them. Since I do not like security doors, I came up with an idea to create and install a custom iron bar design that would attach to the inside of the doors....fitting in with the overall design of the doors. I called two companies that do fencing and custom iron work. Builder's Iron was very responsive and understood my concept. Mario came to my home for measurements on Monday. I had an estimate on Tuesday. They received my down payment on Friday. The following Friday my custom grilles were installed. The workers arrived to install when I was away from home. They mistakenly installed on the outside of the doors. When I arrived, I pointed out the mistake which was immediately corrected...including filling all holes with wood putty. Overall, almost perfect...
Description of Work: After two break-ins, I contacted Builder's Iron to create custom iron grilles to cover the glass in my glass and wood double front entry doors. I did not want a traditional security door with bars and Mario Arredondo and his team did a great job of making my concept a reality. After receipt of my 1/3 down payment, the job was complete within 5 days.
