I'm a first time user of Angie's List and needed some repair work done on my master bath shower (the grout was deteriorating around some loose tiles and also needed to be cleaned up). I contacted Kurt who gave me a very honest assessment of what needed to be done and a very fair price. His crew came out and did a fantastic job. The shower looks like new! I'd highly recommend Kurt and Bath & Tile Restoration.

I contacted Kurt more than 3 years ago to grout the bathroom tiles and restore the tub and glass shower doors. Kurt was very responsive and his crew did a very nice job back then. I contacted him again a few days ago and wanted the same work done. Some companies were great a few years ago but are not so great when they are hired a second time. Not so for Kurt's. He was just as responsive. His crew, Allan and Richard (if I remembered their names correctly), were punctual, hard working, detail-oriented and highly competent, all qualities that are rare to find these days. By the time they finished, the tiles, tub, and glass looked new, caulking was perfectly done, and the work area was all cleaned up. The quality of their work was even better than it was 3yrs ago. What more can I ask for.

We had four estimates to improve/replace our bathroom shower, the 1985 original at construction of the home. The estimates ranged from $10,000 to $5,000. Mr Kurt Hoffman of Bath and Tile Restoration was the only one who suggested restoring the existing shower tiles and regrouting, and replacing the glass shower door. All the work was completed correctly and efficiently within three weeks from the time we accepted his proposal. We were able to keep the original bath tiles (which apparently are no longer manufactured) so that all the bathroom tiles remain same; we eliminated construction tear down and minimized any mess; we relied on Mr Hoffman for all coordination of work. Superb work. $2,500.

I had a bad tile situation in my master bath room shower. The tile was falling out and I needed someone to fix it. When I called Bath and Tile, Kurt came out to provide an estimate. I called other vendors and the quotes were all pretty similar, but I went with Kurt because I felt a level of trust with him. There was no sales pressure. I am glad that I went with Bath and Tile because the project went really well. The tile specialist was excellent and diligent about doing a good job. The care and pride that he takes in his work was obvious and refreshing to see. He and Kurt both advised me a long the way in terms of types of tile, materials, etc. My husband and I were both pleased with the result and would use them again.

Kurt and his team could not have been more prompt, courteous, and professional. He reached out immediately after I contacted him, and was able to start our project a couple of weeks later. Our shower grout had gotten pretty filthy over time, largely because there was no exhaust fan in the shower area. After they were done, the shower looked brand new! Price breakdown was $630 for the regrouting, $425 for installation of the exhaust fan (including the fan itself), and $35 for caulk and grout. Very reasonable, would recommend and use again.
Description of Work: Sanded down, removed deposits from grout, and completely re-grout walk-in shower, removed silicone sealing and recaulk, clean shower floor tile and grout, supply and install exhaust fan in bathroom.

Very well. Came on time, very professional and knowledgeable, pricing seemed fair as well.
The workers performed the task in a timely manner and were very accommodating to my specific wishes. The lead tile installer was very experienced (over 23 years) and was truly an artist in the manner in which he installed the tile. During the job, which took a little over a week, the workers were very neat and cleaned up each day after completing their work for the day. I specifically appreciate that the workers laid down tarps to protect my recently installed wood laminate floors. Kurt Hoffman the manager was also very accommodating to my specific requests and clearly explained the construction process before we got started. During the job Kurt visited the site once and spoke with me on the phone several times during the job. Also Kurt came the final day to install the last plumbing fixtures and to see if everything was ok. The contractor provided me a very good selection to choose from for the floor tile and the grout. For the wall tile I went to a local tile store to select the style and color that I wanted. The tile installer accompanied me to the local tile store to pick up the tile and to select the bull nose tiles. During the entire process the tile installer was very helpful and patient in assisting me in selecting the various colors and styles. I guess the best thing I can say about them is that I definitely will use them in the future for all my bath and tile restoration work that I need and recommend them to my friends.
Description of Work: Remove existing bath tub and walls and replace with a tiled shower. The resulting shower was tiled from the floor to the ceiling with a porcelain tile that I selected. The floor included a shower pan and then was covered with a very nice 2"x2" tile that complemented the wall tile in color and design. The contractor made the necessary plumbing changes to accommodate the new shower e.g. adjust the plumbing, move the drain, install the new shower head and controls (selected and bought by me).

Kurt came out to my home and explained process and cost. Not sure you could find a more down to earth gentleman. His two men crew were excellent. I was needing to clean due to selling my home. I regret not having this service performed before selling. I had been speaking with contractors on replacing the tiles/grout since bleach was not do the trick. If you're thinking about getting a new shower consider having these guys clean, it looks much better.

I called to request an estimate as their advertising says they do tile work including repair. First he said "You do realize there is a minimum $325 charge." I said OK. Then he asked for the address which I provided. The advertisement says they provide service in my county. Then he said I was outside the service area. It appeared he did not want to take a job that was not the big money. It is disappointing that people only want to go after the big dollar jobs and aren't interested if they can't get some serious money out of you.

It went pretty much as they said it would in the itemized estimate, They did warn me that the replacement tile might not match the original 1970's tile and grout cleaning might not be complete without replacing entire floor in master bath. However the match and cleaning were fine, and we did not have to spend the extra money to replace the entire floor in the master bathroom. They did not clean up the chrome bath and shower fixtures, but that was never in the work description, and it is easy for us to do.
Description of Work: In master bath, repaired damaged tile areas in shower stall caused by water seepage, cleaned and regrouted, retiled and sealed floor pan. Cleaned floor tile. In 2nd bath, cleaned tub and floor tile and regrouted.

We had a VERY favorable impression of Mr. Kurt Hoffman, owner of Bath & Tile Restoration, and would have been quite comfortable working with him if we had not expanded our project beyond just bathroom restorations. After contacting three contractors who we had selected through Angie's List research, Mr. Hoffman was the first to contact us; the first to schedule an appointment to review the job; and the first to provide an estimate. He always showed up on time for appointments; always presented himself very professionally; was always a pleasure to deal with; always seemed to be very knowledgeable on the myriad details related to bathroom remodeling, and offered numerous good suggestions on both the best style and construction options/solutions related to our specific project. The only aspect of our dealings with Mr. Hoffman that could have been improved was layout of his written quote. While the quote was complete and relatively easy to follow, there were a few items that were either duplicated or unclear, but these matters were quickly resolved after discussion with Mr Hoffman. Apparently, Mr. Hoffman had just recently switched to using new software for the development of his quotes, and he was still becoming familiar with it.
Description of Work: No work was performed, because our project which started out as just the remodeling of a master bath and a guest bath, expanded to extensive interior and exterior painting, carpet replacement, wood floor refinishing, and a picture window replacement. Since Bath and Tile Restoration only does bathroom work, they were not equipped to handle this larger project, and we did not want to break the project up into several different jobs with several different contractors.

Fabulous job! This was our the third remodel we've done on our house, and I wish Kurt had been the only contractor we'd ever used before. In addition to doing a wonderful remodeling job from the concrete and studs up, the communication with Kurt and his workmen was GREAT!! We always knew who was going to show up, when they were going to show up, etc. In addition, Kurt always answered his phone when I called and stopped by almost every day to see how the work was going. His tile man did beautiful work.... so much nicer than any of the other tilework in my house. Another plus is that I was allowed to change things as we saw what was working and what wasn't..... there were no change fees, rolled eyes or anything negative from anyone! I would wholeheartedly recommend Bath & Tile Restoration.

Repair and cost were exactly as planned. Kurt is very responsive and communicates well - it was easy and quick to schedule both the estimate and the work, and both appointments went as scheduled. The guys who actually did the work were experienced and professional and did a nice job of making the repair without damaging adjacent tile. We were treated very well even though this was a relatively small job. We just had the work done, so time will tell if the repair holds up. I am pleased with Bath & Tile Restoration and would work with them again.

Though initially I accepted his bid and we were on the verge of signing a contract, I ended up choosing another contractor. As advised, I asked him to provide information about his insurance company so that I could contact them directly to verify that he was insured. He agreed. Then he reported a problem: His insurance agent had gone out of business in November, he said, and his insurance had lapsed. He assured me he was working on it. Except for one update at my request, I received no further correspondence on that issue. Trusting he would get the insurance issue worked out, I suggested he bid on updates to my kitchen, and he gladly accepted the opportunity. I gave him the scope of the work, and suggested days and times we might meet. Unfortunately his next brief message, to which I did not respond, sounded curt and abrupt. After that, I never heard from him again. In light of the time we had invested and the fact that he knew I had chosen him as my contractor, I found that surprising and less than professional. I really don't know whether he has insurance or not. It says on his Angie's page that he does, but prospective clients might want to get proof. I gave a B for price because I've since discovered from a tile expert that his bid for my tub-to-shower conversion, though half of another contractor's bid of $10K, was still quite a bit more than a tile contractor (and another general contractor) would charge. In hindsight, I would also have preferred a more detailed bid--and thought it would be forthcoming with the final bid that, he said, would be the contract. Perhaps he simply overlooked the lapse in his insurance. But for what both of us invested in the process, I feel he should have expressed regret that things didn't work out and wrapped things up in a more professional way. It saddens me that I could not give a better review for a contractor with high marks to this point, and who initially impressed me by being prompt and reliable.
Description of Work: Kurt came out to bid an update to my master bathroom the day after I called. ( A+ for first impression!) Together we assessed the possibilities. Again I was impressed) to find his emailed bid the next morning. Updates followed promptly. After waiting a week to gather and assess other bids, I chose his. The price seemed fair, and he had earned high marks and many favorable comments on Angie's List. That's when things started to fall apart.

We first had estimate from Kurt for just caulking tiles, But, as tilers took out old grout they found backing ( sheet rock) was wet and crumbling. The grouting stopped and I had to wait a short time for new estimate, demolition team (to take out everything to bare wall). At first they did not take out all old wet insulation, but Kurt told Tee ( plumber) it must come out, so it did. Good thing we were watching plumber though or we'd have had old wet insulation in walls. Then new pipes and faucet. Little did we know about faucets and piping, (would have liked to have known the faucet guts came in different size pipes or openings, before we bought them). Now water pressure is low for showering. Will need to have whole section redone with new faucet if we want more pressure. Then cement back-boards went in and the tiling job was well done. Bathtub area looks really nice again. Job was done quickly and cleanly and at a reasonable price. Kurt seems very knowledgeable, but it would have been nice to know more, and wished Kurt had been out to check on things in-between jobs to make sure everything was done correctly.

He answered all my questions and provided some tips/suggestions regarding tile and grout. Would definitely recommend!

I can't praise this awesome company enough. We had used their services previously when the master bathroom needed a minor face-lift. They had done such a fabulous job that we decided to hire them again, and they easily exceeded our expectations. Nicest people you'll ever work with, hands down. Worth every penny. The approximate cost of service includes materials, which we selected. We chose fixtures that might not have been high-end, but were nonetheless better-quality, middle-market products, most of which were readily available at the local DIY big-box store. The job took four weeks to complete (on target), and it was done carefully and methodically. Any errors in product selection and last-minute flip-flops on my part were graciously corrected and accommodated. My gratitude to Kurt (a real class act, by the way) and his crew for their first-rate work, attentiveness, and attention to detail.

It went well, I think. I spoke with Kurt on the phone a number of times before the actual service was performed. I have never had this service done before and I wanted to get some estimates. I paid exactly what the estimate was, based on my description over AL message. Their numbers seemed to be reasonable with everything included that I wanted done. The reviews on AL seemed to be reasonable as well. Kurt was courteous and patient with me as I asked questions, probably twice, and did have Alex call me 10-15 minutes before arriving at my home. Alex was there when I arrived. He was courteous and patient with me. He offered to lock up the home after finishing so I didn't have to leave work again. He said they would seal section by section and use a fan as they went along. I guess he did everything he said he was going to do. Arrived about 930 and left about 1230. I say I guess because I don't really know. I wasn't there to see them actually sealing the tile. I assume they did everything they said they were going to do. I assume that the tile was actually sealed, but I'm not sure how to tell. The backsplash felt exactly as it did before, as did the tile in the bathtub/shower combos, but then I'm not sure if they're supposed to feel different or how you can tell if it's been sealed. Alex did leave a label of the sealant they used so that I can purchase cleaning solution for that specific type of sealant. So, overall I guess it was a good experience. I haven't used the showers yet, and I haven't spilled anything on the floor, so unsure what will happen when I do.

Really good experience... Kurt came by to do an estimate within a few days of my calling, and I was pleasantly surprised when he said the quote would be good for up to six months. I didn't end up waiting six months, but it was probably 3 or 4 months before I was able to have them come by to do the work. And they did a really good job - the grout work looks great, all the caulking is really clean; my leaking problems have gone away, which is obviously a good thing. Also, the crew took care of a couple of minor items that weren't included in the estimate and didn't charge for them - all in all, good work, good price, good value, and good people. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Caulking and grout repair in three bathrooms
In the end, they regrouted and caulked the shower, and we had them re-caulk the spare bathroom. The team showed up on time, were fast, courteous, explained the next steps. Will use them again when we do renovations to the bathroom down the road.
Description of Work: The shower in master bath was leaking into the closet. We were expecting a $8K to $10K job. Instead, Kurt provided us with 2 or 3 alternatives in different price ranges and explained what the likely problem was.

It went like butter. The team is a model of efficiency and professionalism. Kurt responded promptly to our request to come out and give us a quote, was polite and congenial, and answered all our questions. Shortly thereafter, a crew of two men showed up and completed the tile restoration half of the job, just in time for our plumber to install a new commode. A week later a gleaming new shower door arrived and was installed. We're absolutely thrilled!
Description of Work: Cleaned, re-grouted, and restored both tile shower and tile floor, and installed new shower door.
