Birkline Painting

It went really well and he was very fast and was careful not to make a mess. I did think he would have done more taping for the trim work but did just fine. For the price it was really reasonable. When he finished with the family room he offered to paint the bedroom. I would recommend their services to others.

I purchased the special for exterior painting of a one-story house under 2500 square feet. Bill Birkline reviewed my house and said the front porch, any repairs, and the garage would be additional costs. I purchased my own paint. He spent five partial days painting the exterior of my home. He is a well-mannered man who works independently, cleanly, and cleans up after himself. He offers advice as needed but follows what you ask him to do.

I would give him top marks based on the work. Bill Birkline matched the paint for our room and did a great job painting. In addition to the painting he did some caulking. We did not have to supply tools or miscellaneous supplies like many painters require. They had everything ready to go. I would highly recommend him and I would use him again.

gThe painter applied the first coat of paint and then noticed the top coat was not adhering to the wall properly. I was able to take the paint back to the store. Once the job was complete, it was absolutely gorgeous!

They were okay. I was in a hurry to get some painting done. When my mother came home from the nursing home, she did not like it. She thought the man did a messy job. I would tell other Angie’s List members to shop around.

I found Bill on Angie's List where he had a special for exterior house painting for $800. Bill came out on a Wednesday and power washed the exterior. He told me how much paint to buy, and I had it for him when he arrived the next day. Since I wanted the trim of the house to be a contrasting color, which takes more time to apply, Bill asked for $100 more. I gladly agreed. The job took three days start to finish. Bill did a beautiful job painting our house. We are very pleased with the quality of his work and would definitely hire him again.

Mr. Birkline does excellent work. The painting job was a bit complex but presented little in the way of trouble for Mr. Birkline. The Quality of his work is outstanding and anyone needing an affirmation of this is welcome drive by and look at his work. In short, he did a great job and he does the work himself.

We contacted Bill to do some interior painting on our kitchen. He responded promptly even though it was the holidays, and was able to come out right when we needed. In addition, we scheduled him for a second visit a few days later, right before Christmas, to finish the work and he was able to get that done, and re-texturing a half bath, as well. All in all, we were very pleased and would use his services again.

Honestly, the experience was a bit heartbreaking. Bill is very nice and polite, and you get the impression from him that he just wants to do an honest day's work and get paid accordingly. His quote was significantly under the others I received, but he was so honest and genuine that I took the risk. I would check on the project as it progressed. I think my affinity for the man made me willing to overlook the obvious problems with quality. I paid him a day before the job was completed, thinking that the obvious touch up work would be coming at the end of the job, but it never came. Because he did everything by free-hand, there were drips on the trim, very uneven lines, and paint on the brick fireplace. Paint cans were left open and scattered throughout the house. We called to talk with him after a few days, but he sounded put out. I was in no mood to try and force him to come back to do a good job, and the money was already gone, so I chalked it up to a lesson learned. I had to hire another painter to come repaint the cabinetry (he did not sand and prep the surface, so the paint was already peeling off), redo several walls, and spot repair the trim.

Great job! Bill was exactly on time, fast, friendly and he did a great job.

We were extremely happy with the quality of workmanship and professionalism throughout every stage of the painting project. Bill is a thoroughly pleasant guy and a clear and succinct communicator with a good sense of humor. All of the work involved unexpected repairs and complex matching of paint. Bill walked us through every phase and explained the costs and variations well in advance. Where something was not perfect to his eye and experience, he redid it. Bill arrived on time and worked safely and efficiently all day. Bill's prices were very competitive and unlike some who quoted but failed to get back to us, he was prompt in his response and started the project to meet our needs. The job was completed on schedule and on budget. We would have no hesitation in recommending Bill Birkline to any prospective customer.

Bill is extremely sweet and hard working. He does work alone and is very busy. We were very flexible with the time frame. The majority of the work was great but sloppy. The lines are not crisp. There is paint on the ceiling wall that i will to go over. There are brush marks on the cabinet where I had to repaint because it was a rushed job. There was paint droppings on the floors and tub and toilet. When he painted the base boards in the bathrooms there are piles of paint on the tile in the corners. We did address the lines not being crips when we noticed it (he does not use painters tape he does it free hand) he stated we should have hired another painter and paid more money. By this time he was 1/2 done with the project which took about a week. I really wanted to use him again but after that comment I was just ready for the job to be completed. One of the workers at the paint store did try to warn me he said if its cheap you get for what you pay for and to be careful . I was on a tight budget and with the great reviews gave him a chance. I didn't contact Bill regarding my issues because when we tried to address them when he was there he snapped back. It was a very uncomfortable feeling even though we were paying him for the service.

Bill was on time and did the job asked of him both times he was out. He is a very nice man and a very hard worker. If you want perfection I don?t know who you would call because Bill wasn?t perfect, but then who is. I was very happy with his work.

The guy at Birkline Painting is a hard worker and willing to change the original contract. It was a good way of doing business, because he could say I hired him to do 8 hours of work and painting the interior of the house. The guy works alone. The end result was a bit sloppy and I could have done better. Overall he is okay. For 8 hours of painting that is a good price. The guy is extremely sweet and knows what he is talking about. I may have caught him on a bad day, because there is paint splattered everywhere. I am counting on that I caught him on a lousy day. The guy is a professional and he is working very hard. I know for a fact that he or his wife had just had health problems. I think his mind wasn't 100% there, because I think under other circumstances he would do a perfect job.

Bill did a great job. Had a total of four bids to paint my house. Highest was $3800 which included paint, almost picked a bid of $2500 which also included the paint,but than I found Bill's Exterior Special on A.L. I thought it seemed almost too cheap $1150 for the job and I pay for the paint. It was Eleven Gallons total of Sherwin Williams Premium which they charge $51 a can for, but with Bill's Contractor discount I got it for $36 a can. Bill also found some rotting wood that the Home Inspector apparently missed and offered to go buy and cut the wood promising he wouldn't charge much. I also had some Windows and Doors that had to be taken off my porch which Bill also offered to do for a low price. I happily paid him the $1150 plus $150 for the repairs which I thought was more than fair. Factoring the $400 spent on paint I saved close to a Grand when it was all said and done. Bill is a one man operation with low overhead which allows him to work for very reasonable rates. His 30 years experience shows with his attention to detail. The work was done very well and in a timely manner.

The painter was very punctual. He called me once I had purchased the Angie's List deall and we set up a time for about 2 days later. I provided him with the number of and dimensions of the walls I wanted and he informed me to go ahead and purchase the paint. I only purchased two cans. The day of service, he arrived on time and ready to work (around 8:30am). I showed him what was needed and he got right to it. As he was paintining, he mentioned that he would need another can so I went back to the store to get it. He also let me use his paint discount.

Bill showed up when he said he would and we discussed that there would be a bit more prep work involved due to the fact that I have had to board up all of the windows of my home for two separate hurricanes resulting in multiple holes around all of the windows as well as having to remove rope lighting mounted underneath the eave all the way around my home in which we agreed for an additional amount that Bill would take down and put back up afterward. Bill pressure washed, filled the holes and painted the entire house. He did a great job and I will be hiring him again in a few months to paint the interior of the house.

I paid for a "painter for the day" special via Angie's list, and I was very impressed with Bill of Birkline Painting. He arrived on time, and he was able to accomplish all the minor paint jobs I had that needed to be finished. He did a great job, and I would highly recommend him in the future (and may use him again if any more painting needs arise in my home!). Bill was very personable, and even found a job for my 4-year-old daughter to do to help him paint one of the walls.

We contacted Bill and he basically worked from room to room touching up all the areas that were in need. He did a good job and really seemed to care about the service he was providing.

After a quick tour of the items I was hoping to accomplish, Bill got right to work, and to my surprise, said he would be able to do all of the work within the 8 hour timeframe. He started in the kitchen. We had been remodeling our kitchen and had some tile removed that used to surround a kitchen window. Bill had to run to the store to get materials, but was able to float and re-texture the area so it could be painted the color of our kitchen. It took some time for him as it was an extremely awkward space for him to work in and he had to dry each layer (about 3-4 layers in all) by hand. I still couldn't believe he was able to accomplish that so quickly! Other estimates we obtained tried telling us it would take 3 days, in all, for an area that is the size of a standard window! Then he painted the kitchen ceiling. He next moved on to a large sunroom that has an approx. 12 foot vaulted ceiling. He fixed another crack in this area with the same process as the kitchen repair work. As he finished one side of the room, he asked me to go around and make sure he didn't miss any areas. And there was really nothing missed. He also painted a guest bedroom for me as well. Bill was very courteous, and you could tell the quality of his work was far above that of other painters. He was more concerned with getting the work done then working within the 8 hour timeframe...Not something most contractors care about these days. Did I mention the two little fans he made while he was here? :) He was extremely cordial to my little ones and even let my 4 year old act like his "assistant" at times--even getting a chance to put some paint on the wall! I'm sure his "helpers" slowed him down, but Bill seemed to genuinely like the interaction. Bill did a good job, and I gave him a little extra above the coupon price. I would definitely hire again!
