Birkline Painting

Difficult time with trim, after several hours did finally finish. Painting needed touch up of which they came back to do.

I found him in my Angie's List book and when I contacted him, he called me back immediately. He knew what my financial situation was, and he came out and made me a deal. He will do the job, and all I need to do is buy him fuel and food for the week he will be working here. The cost is well with in my budget. He is very professional, personable, caring, responsive and everybody loves him. I have recommended him to other people here in my neighborhood.

Matt did the replacement of the wood. Very professional and polite. His Dad did the painting and I wasn’t pleased with his professionalism or attitude. He painted over holes that needed to be filled in with a filler and bubble places in the back door around the window. I ask if he could sand it down and make it smoother and he replied his son had all the sand paper with him so he scraped it off with a scraper. He wasn’t very prepared. He used my shoe to prop open the back door and got caulking on it. That wasn’t the proper thing to do without asking me. He acted like he was in a hurry to get a check for the paint and wood, he left without putting the patio furniture back in place.

I actually bid out the job to several vendors and Birkline was not the lowest bid. I picked them because they were the people that were going to paint the house. I like to know who is at my house and didn't have to worry about a crew showing up that I had not discussed the job with. Mat was very thorough explaining the quality materials they would use on the job. Bill has been in the business long enough to know exactly what color paint to match the current exterior as the old paint color was a Kelly-Moore color - that company is no longer in business. I didn't want to go through our HOA for approval for a new color. He left me with the formula to use in case I ever needed to order more. When the weather finally cleared up enough for them to start the job I wasn't available to be at the house during the day but since I knew who was coming to the house I felt secure letting them come and work on the outside without me being there and they were able to work around my schedule to get access to the inside to get the job completed. They pressure-washed, caulked and also repaired some areas that had rotted before painting. The house looks great now. When I get ready to have the inside painted they will be the first ones I call!

Matthew Birkline gave us a competitive quote on painting the exterior of our home. He was very patient in providing paint samples and doing small samples on the door and exterior portions so we could get a good idea which color to settle on. He was also very up front and honest about the areas of exterior damage that needed to be repaired prior to painting. He is a carpenter by trade so his wood work was excellent - much better than the contractors that did some original work just months before. He does the work himself with his father who is a painter for 30 years and another assistant. His father was very nice and very knowledgeable given his extensive experience. They came back several times to make sure minor touch ups were completed so obviously we were pleased with the attention to detail since we're also detailed oriented. We had another contractor (non-Angie's List) do our interior painting and have had to deal with imperfections since then. Wish we found the Birklines before we did the interior painting.

Birkline Painting did an EXCELLENT job repairing rotten wood trim and painting the exterior of our house. Bill (father) and Matt (son) were a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. Matt generated the initial detailed estimate providing a breakdown of the individual costs for labor, paint, wood materials, and labor to repair rotten wood trim. The final cost was spot on with the initial estimate. Their work included power washing the house and using bleach to remove tough mildew stains, removing and replacing rotten wood trim with new primed wood, chalking cracks where needed and finally painting the wood surface with a combination of paint sprayer (provides an even coat of paint) followed by a hand brush to work the paint into the wood grain. Bill and Matt were punctual, honest and very considerate of doing high quality work. I look forward to contracting them again soon to complete some interior painting.

Bill was prompt, he went and got the right paint for the job, he offered suggestions, and he was professional, helpful, and cleaned up. GREAT job. I would definitely recommend him and hope to use him again in the future.

I had seen the deal and paid up front and Mr Berkline informed me that he was at least four months out for jobs because business was so good, I immediately requested a refund, but have never received it. I have since found another painter. Please refund my $300 as soon as possible.

Matthew came out & quoted me prices on all of the work listed above. I was very pleased with the quotes as I have other quotes and Birkline was the best. Matthew and his crew also performed work that was outside the quote with no additional charge and that was nice to not be nickel & dimed for every service. For the extra effort that we received, I have referred him to another friend of mine with a job similar in size. I will be using Birkline again for many other projects that I will have going into next year. I would also recommend Birkline painting to anyone looking for a good contractor that is very fain in his pricing and makes outstanding efforts to please his clients.

Bill and Matthew were terrific. The edges were very straight along moldings and along the edges of walls that abutted another room with a different color. Both gentlemen were extremely nice and communication was great in terms of scheduling the appt and arrival time. Bill kept at it until the job was done. My husband and I were very pleased. Our rooms look great.

Arranged an appointment to price a painting job. Birkline did not keep the appointment nor did they call to arange another meeting.

Bought coupon, provided 3 requested dates for service and never heard from service provider, however he did eventually contact me and we worked out our miscommunication issue and from then on he was excellent at keeping me informed. I felt the finished product was excellent, though my "full day of painting" could have been a bit more of a "full day".

They were very quick - no taping, but a steady hand. It was a quality job with 2 coats of paint. They want to do the job right and would suggest improvements.

I called to leave a message for the service and was able to reach the painter. However, it took my phoning back several days later to get a firm date. They sent out someone to power wash before the painting was initiated. He did an exceptional job and even went above and beyond to do my sidewalks where he was walking. I was impressed with his positive, "can-do" attitude. When it was time to paint, I was a little surprised to learn that the painting was not for my whole house, but just for the trim. My home is brick with wood trim and the brick is painted. Typically, brick is not painted. So, we did agree that they would do a little touch up where it was needed. Painting was done over the course of 2 days...it would have been done sooner, but for the much needed rain. Overall, the painting was done well. There were a few little places where it could have been cleaned up, but nothing significant. I would be happy to have them come back again!

The painter did a good job on the work itself but he was very opinionated in the subjects that he was interested....ie politics. He also insulted our cabinetry that has been in the home since the 1960's. We were very glad when the job was complete and he was gone!

Did a very good job on the house, minus one small section of the gutters, due to an awning on the house. Prior to work being done, this was explained as a possible problem due to the location and not wanting to cause any damage.

We love it! He arrived on time and worked through the hottest hours of the day. We were a little outside of his traveling range but he accepted our job and I'm so glad he did. I had read all of the positive reviews on Angie's List and they were spot on. We will definitely use him again if he's willing to travel to Dickinson again.

Very busy, so call early to schedule. Fast and efficient with the work. Minor woodwork and power washing on the house performed as discussed. Painted one story house in about three days of painting, so did not mess around when they got started.

Bill was very communicative and helpful and willingly shared his discount for the paint. He made sure to protect the floors and furniture and promptly went to work. He was very thorough, precise and got the job done. His service was required because ceilings are not my favorite to paint, and he did it with ease (or at least it looked that way)! We were very pleased with his work. We would definitely call on his services again in the future.

Work was done in a timely manner. Wasn't perfect and there could have been a little more care taken to get sharp edges.
