Aztec Decorative Concrete offers exterior concrete flatwork services (New Concrete) and overlays for patio, driveway, and pool decks, and Garage coatings services
The overall experience went great. Ericka came out to give us a free estimate and consultation. She helped me pick the right colors that would compliment our home. The work was performed on time and at budget. The communication was great all the way through the process and the final work is amazing. I wish we had done this years ago. The workers knew what they were doing and the workmanship is top notch. I highly recommend calling them for your project.
Description of Work: We had a sidewalk and walkway that needed to be replaced
Ericka was very knowledgeable & explained exactly how the work would be done, what to expect. The crew came and broke up the old driveway & walkway in one day. They did a great job clearing it all away. The city inspector liked their preparation work, & the new concrete was poured the next day. We had the front porch stamped & stained. It all looks so great. Several neighbors have admired the work & asked who did it. We were confident in how it would turn out because our former next door neighbor had them do their driveway about 10 years ago & it still looks great, no cracks at all.

Aztec Decorative concrete resurfaced our back and front patio. They did an excellent job! The crew they sent out was top notch and very professional as were all the office staff. They communicated everything with clarity and professionalism. We could not be more happy with the results. We highly recommend Aztec for creating a beautiful outdoor environment.

Prices were fairly decent but we decided to go with a concrete company that seems to know other things in the business for a little longer. They were courteous and came out and gave me a quote in time. There were different circumstances, that's why we did not take them. I would consider them.

It went very well. The only holdup was the weather because there was an extended period of rain for several weeks which backed up everyone's job. Ericka came to my house for the initial visit to provide a cost estimate for a new driveway addition and the sidewalk and the patio work. As it turned out, the city code would not allow me to install a new driveway the way I wanted it, so I just did the patio, sidewalk, and front porch. Ericka was very professional during the project and kept in touch with me weekly during the rain delays and re-scheduling. When the crew showed up, they were very efficient in getting the job done. They are definitely not just laborers, but craftsmen at what they do. The final product of their work their is just amazing. I am very pleased with the result.

In addition she called after every day her team was here to make sure I understood what they were doing and answering any questions I had. It took 3 days to complete. I can't say enough of her professionalism and how detailed her team is...they do BEAUTIFUL work!!! I can't say enough how pleased I am with the finished work!!! The initial job went pretty smoothly. The installation went well and looked good upon completion. We had some concerns about how the pool overlay would do in our backyard because we were covering a seam between new concrete and the old pool deck. Less than a year later some movement caused severe cracking in the overlay and it started to chip away. I contacted Ericka with Aztec in January when I noticed the damage and she said to wait until spring to do anything about it. I had every intention of paying for this and was never given an estimate. I was continually put off until now, October 21, 2015 and still no repair. During the job, there was some argument over some pool cover holes that were accidentally covered up and now she argues with me about communications we had over the past 10 months so I am moving on. I would not recommend Aztec. I am canceling my Angie's List subscription because I do not trust the reviews anymore.

As I stated I apologize for your issue that occurred due to your foundation work that was handled to aztec handling the work. I am dissappointed this not even mentioned above the hairline cracks are occurring only in this area. I recommended to wait due to the climate change and due to you placing the house on the market within the next month. I never heard back from you until yesterday. There was never any arguments that I recall as the last conversation was a text. The holes that were covered were not advised prior to the coating were handled as discussed, the one missed was not addressed as a huge concern at that time and handled when your contractor installed where it was needed. At the end of the day I am glad you were satisfied with the work done it really turned nice, your urgency on this situation now should not be a reflection on our work. This occurred due to your pre-existing conditions. I offered to handle yesterday after we realized the miscommunication of the need, so I was surprised that the next text received from you was "never mind". I mentioned to you we needed to have 3-4 good days back to back and honestly had it until this past week. I understand your frustration and apologize for the miscommunication of the need and wish you the best.
We have wanted to complete this project for about 5 years now, as our previous driveway had huge cracks and was actually a hazard to our cars. I originally contacted Ericka Dale back in 2011 when I was getting estimates, and I was immediately impressed by her knowledge of the business and her responsiveness to all my questions. When we were finally able to begin work on this project this past summer, I knew exactly who I would call. Even though Aztec had one of the higher bids of all my estimates, they were also much more open about what they would do and when they would do the work. They were always easy to contact and showed up when they said they would. They took care of the permit process for us, not an easy task if you live in Sugar Land. and handled all city inspections. Ericka always contacted me well in advance as to the schedule and what would happen next. She was responsive to all my concerns and worked with us through every step. The work crews were always punctual and worked hard to finish by their deadline, sometimes staying late to complete their work. They were glad to show me what they had done during the day and explain what would happen next. At the completion of the job, they again stayed late to clean up the yard and backfill any areas around the new driveway. They made sure I was pleased with the end result. Ericka followed up to make sure everything was completed and gave me explicit instructions on how to cure the concrete to prevent any superficial cracks on the surface. Even though I'm sure my job was a small one in comparison to other work Aztec does, I really felt like I was their only customer and they wanted to make sure I was pleased with the end result. Our new driveway is now finished and it looks absolutely beautiful! Our neighbors stop by and comment on how nice it looks and inquire about who did the work. This was the smoothest job and most professional company I have ever worked with. Aztec really puts the customer first, and they are a true pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them to anyone, and would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Demolition of existing concrete driveway at homeowners residence and installation of new concrete with broom brush finish. New driveway included extending width to allow more parking area. All work completed within city code requirements and appropriate permits were obtained by Aztec. All work completed well within time frames stated.

From the start, we were treated as if they were doing us a favor. Changes of schedule, poor communication, and lack of flexibility when scheduling the different parts of the process characterized them from the start. When we asked for advise on finishes for the patio, we received none but a few blurry photos. But, in spite of this, we stated clearly, both personally and in writing, what we wanted. The finish did not turn out the way we wanted, and our email stating this concern remained unanswered. They have no understanding of the meaning of customer service and customer satisfaction. The finish is at some places extremely rough with lumps or tiny rocks sticking up so much that walking barefoot is uncomfortable. This pattern is inconsistent: some places show the broom texture perfectly but some other areas (quite a lot, actually) are rougher, making the whole patio uneven, both in look and feel. Their answer--which came only after our insistence-- was dismissive and unapologetic and no one bothered to stop by and evaluate and discuss with us the finished job. I guess that since they had collected the final payment, checking on the finished job and addressing our concerns was out of the equation. We have never encountered such a disregard for customer satisfaction. They used to have good reviews (and this is why we called them), but they do not reflect the "company" they are today.

We are very surprised to received this type of review considering the constant communication via email and text with you and your husband. We did our best to provide you with good customer service but the issues where not on our end in communication I believe the communication was more between you and your spouse unfortunately. We provided most of the information through your husband after the contract was initiated there were a lot of inconsistency with what we agreed. I did my best to re-confirm the agreement and project details with you. We actually did our best to accommodate (which you refer to as a favor) your gutter situation and even due to all the rain we have that was not mentioned above we sent a crew on a Sunday to remove the patio cover so you have it handled by Monday for your gutter crew. We were amazed of the treatment we received for doing this and was demanded to handle in the weather conditions we had - we only charge a minimal charge and was intended to handle at the time we were there, but handled over a Sunday to assist you in advance with another home project, In regards to the texture, we provided many camera taken pictures before we started of different finishes to assist you although we already agreed to broom finish at the last minute it was being changed - which we understood and provided options smooth and textured - textured was selected. A simple broom finish was demonstrated at the time of pour since it was still not understood of the finial finish that was going to be handled and it was approved personally by you. We had no complaints about the project for the several days we were there even after pouring. We provided a timeline of events and requested access and were locked out of the construction areas and the crew waited hours to be allowed in with concrete on its way and we experience additional cost and down time that was not charged back to you. I feel we did all we can to communicate, provided flexibility and thoughtfullness to you. After several days of your job being poured I received a email over the weekend and received a text next business day which I responded promptly about your opinion of your friends texture of surface that was completed several months ago compared to yours. I explained the difference of times, surfaces and the surface that was selected at the time of the estimate, in person through demonstration and with pictures. We really did our best to advise the broom finish was a textured finish, there were other smoother finishes but it was selected. A broom finish is not a manufactured finish, it will have some areas that can be slightly different. I reviewed the pictures and they actually looked great, I wish I was able to attach to provide a visual for everyone. The blown up pictures sent to me was a size of quarter difference on a concrete floor still going through its curing process. I was never invited to see but the foreman and did the work and did not express any issues from the pour date, nor the date of removal of forms where we received the final payment. We do feel this complaint came in due to unauthorized additional work request that was presented to our workers to do outside of Aztec and they did not handle for you. It was obvious you were not pleased with this decision. I apologize you feel you were not satisfied with the project but we did not receive any signs of the workmanship issues during our time there, just dissatisfaction that the crew did not do additional work you were trying to get done outside of the contract with our team members. Our crew members have been working for us for many years and are loyal employees and take pride in thier work and feel this is not a reflection on any work but on their decision to abide by our company policies that all contract changes outside of contract are to be handled through a change order. As a business partner, I value your business but do not feel we provide any wrong doings in the workmanship of your project.

This is truly amazing. I first left a message to be contacted via their website (accessed through Angies List) a number of weeks ago. When no response was received, I called and left a voice message a few weeks ago. When no response was received, I tried again a little over a week ago and left a message with their call answering service. I received a call back 3 days later in the evening with a message from Erika apologizing for the delay in responding and asking me to call her back. I did the following morning and left a message with the answering service. I waited another 3 days and tried again leaving another message on the voicemail. Wow!

Aztec Decorative concrete did a fantastic job with our 277 square foot patio extension. They had a date of service scheduled, and ended up being able to come a week early. This was a three day job, and it was done in that time frame. The crew showed up on time, worked hard, and it turned out great. The concrete pour was custom, but had a very reasonable price. It needed extra deep footing for framework support, and an area with extra rebar for a water feature fountain, and connecting sidewalks. While this job was not a house foundation job, it was very similar, with electrical, water, and drainage all positioned for the pour. They were experts at making the slope within 1/8'" over 31'. They were excellent at leveling the ground including where the deeper footing was required. The weather prevented scheduled excavation, then forming, then pouring, but they were careful to make sure conditions for each phase of the job was optimum. They were exacting, friendly, accommodating, and thorough, all for an excellent price. Each member of the team worked hard and tirelessly, including removing the forms while it was raining. You simply cannot find a better work ethic, attention to detail, quality and value for your money in the Houston area.

I apologize for any inconvenience, when customer's call about resealing after the spring and summer we advise that we may have to wait until the following year if the weather is not ideal. If there is a break in the weather we do contact or request that you contact us when the weather is ideal to assist you with this. . We recommend to reseal every 1-3 years, your sealer still had plenty of life. The surface cracks you mention were due to a capping they were not surface cracks, it is due to an existing capping that was performed on your project, we explained this and offered to patch as a courtesy at the time of the reseal. We show you called us 1 time to discuss this and we advised that we were unable to handled the time you were requesting. Feel free to call us in the Spring to assist you!
The owner estimater is Erica Dale. She was best estimater and worked the best with us and we got numerous estimates at least three or four others and she was definitely the best that is why we went with them. Competitive price.

I selected AZTEC from the three estimates I had gotten for this project because of three reasons: 1) they provided the middle estimate of the others, 2) they are a family owned business and 3) the personable and professional presence of the representative sent to do my estimate. My project was going to be big and expensive and I sought out a company I felt I could depend on and have excellent communication with. We chose to increase the size of the original driveway and also the original patio, both of which were severely cracked and damaged from 40 years of ground shifting. We chose to also have the two sidewalks removed and redone because of the cracks and they would match the new concrete. Another addition was a slope to the back door making wheelchair access easier. Steps were also created at the other two entry doors - a total of a little under 2700 sq ft of new concrete. The driveway, front walkway and front steps were broom finished and the back patio, sidewalk, steps and slope were stamped in a random stone pattern and colors were chosen to complement the brick on the house. This project was delayed more than once after it was began due to illness (mine, then my husband), an unforeseen broken sewer pipe we had to get repaired and of course the rain - lots of it. Through it all everyone at AZTEC was patient, kind, upbeat and professional. It was a true pleasure to be able to call, email, and text any question or concern I had and be responded to usually within 30 minutes. I absolutely love the new patio! I love the new driveway too - the increased width will better accommodate the trucks and SUV's that are parked here on a daily basis, and give plenty of room for guests.
