We recieved a call from Melvin the morning after leaving a message on Angie's List. He told us he would stop by that day,coming just a couple of hours later. We showed him the problem areas & he & his assistant got right to work. Within about 20 minutes they had isolated the problems & corrected all. I did have to run to the store to buy the plug end as he did not carry one in his vehicle. All work was completed to our satisfaction.

We were exceptionally well pleased in our recent experience with Awesome Electric. Melvin Rodriguez is an experienced, professional, and pleasant person with whom to work. He is one of those rare persons with substantial expertise who actually listens to the client and applies his years of experience and knowledge to the needs of the customer while at the same time following strictly the requirements of the City Code and the standards of his profession. He is friendly, hard working, and particularly fair and reasonable in his prices. He explains clearly up-front what will be required and what the costs will be and he adheres to his word in performing the job at hand. We recommend him without hesitation for anyone needing an experienced electrician.

Melvin happened to be in the area when I called. Even though he did not have all of this equipment; he offered to come by take a look at the problem. Melvin systematically inspected the circuits and identified the problem and fixed it. Not only did he fix the original problem, he also offered suggestions and made corrections to some of the circuits that were not installed properly. This was the case for the outlet that was the source of the problem. He showed how the wire had been overheating becuase of a poor connection. The other circuits he fixed could have ultimately had similar issues and could have been a safety issue. Melvin charged a fair price, was meticulous but efficient in his work.

Melvin was extremely quick to reply to my email and also about calling me after I left him a voice message. Depending on where you live, he does have a trip charge. He lives out by Hobby Airport, and I live in NW part of town, so there would be a trip charge in my case. He nicely explained that he charges by the amount of time he spends, and gave me a ballpark quote which he also honestly said I could not hold him to since he has not seen my house or the lights to really know how much wiring he'd have to do and what obstacles he may encounter. I will call around for other estimates but am definitely keeping Melvin in mind, as I liked his responsiveness and forthrightness.

Fixed a loose contact in one of electrical receptacles in my house. He is very professional and told me what the problem is and the different ways to solve it. Also told me what to do if future similar problems occurs so that I don't have to call him. He is also not overbearing. Some repairman who shares repairs know-how can be overwhelming (Look, how much I know and how little you know, aren't you grateful?). But he doesn't do that. He is just a professional. I will use him again.

First contractor we contacted want ed $950 for same work. AWESOME installed the lights quickly and cleaned up after themselves Also had him loook at installing light over stove. Would have been very expensive with little gain. Received excellent electrical advice.

He did an exellent job working into the evening without overtime charges.

Melvin gave me an estimate for about 4 hours work to run the wires in my attic, install the lights outdoors, and also relocate the garage door switch. He instructed me to go purchase the lights I wanted him to use and he'd be back out to do the work. We arranged a time for him to return and he did come back out. He took a little bit longer than expected (my attic is a little congested, and he bumped his head on a nail) but he still charged me the same as his estimate. I would use Melvin again. He was very professional and a very nice man.

Charged by the hour and completed both jobs within one hour. Very satisfied with work and price and would use again.

Initially, we called another electrical service provider, and they told us that we needed to completely rewire the entire main breaker box and replace the main 150 amp whole house breaker. Their quote for this work ranged from $1600 - $2600, depending upon what they found, but they couldn't describe exactly how they knew that was the problem or whether their expensive solution was the cure. We looked on Angies List, and based on that recommendation for Awesome Electric, called Melvin for a second opinion. He quickly found that the whole house breaker tripping was caused by a few bad/loose connections, and showed me where those bad connections had caused heat buildup and damage to the main power lines. Instead of replacing the entire box and wiring (which otherwise was in good shape), he repaired the bad connections and fixed the problem for $150, which saved me a bunch over the other company's estimate for work which wasn't really needed. Nice to find someone who is both competent and honest today. Awesome Electric did an awesome job, and we have Melvin coming back out next week for some additional electric work.

Melvin performed the work professionally and his bill was precisely what he had esitmated. He was punctual and completed the work within the timeframe of his estimate. I was very pleased with his services and would not hesitant to use him again.

Melvin is just super! I have had him out 3 times in the past year for various projects. The latest one was to replace a ceiling fan with a chandelier. He came on time, handled the chandelier very carefully, installed it, and replaced the fan switch with a dimmer. While he was there, I also asked him to replace 2 light socket assemblies on 2 different table lamps. Melvin did that also very cheerfully and did a great job!

Melvin came out the same day that we first spoke on the phone. He was very helpful and took time to look over and rule out each potential cause for the problems. He was honest with his assessment, saying that our biggest issue was not an electrical one, but due to an a/c compressor issue. We have been having this problem for 2 summers and Melvin was the third electrician to look at it. The other two had replaced the breakers, while Melvin finally told us that it was a different problem all together.

Melvin was great. He re-confirmed the day of his appointment, showed up on time and repaired a number of lighting issues efficiently and knowledgeably. When the need arises, I will definitely use Awesome Electric again.

Melvin came by promptly and give us an estimate. there was some confusion on how many lights needed to be put when he showed up for work. We renegotiated the price which was fair to both of us and off he went. The work took much longer than expected owing to complications and extremely limited crawl space in some areas. However, Melvin took it in his stride and worked over a weekend to get it completed in time. The whole experience was very positive and he did a very professional job on the lighting. I will definitely use him the next time I need electrical work.

The guys were really thorough and very knowledgeable. They explained everything. They were here for an hour. They also did some other diagnostic work without charging for it.

I needed my stove disconnected, but there was no plug, just a box hanging from the wall. Melvin came over and not only did he disconnect it, but was also able to make the installation safer. Price is pretty much the same as others I called, but he does not charge a visit fee. He seemed very knowledgeable and was friendy.

Melvin is the best. He's professional, trustworthy, punctual, helpful, experienced, honest, nice, and does very good work. I highly recommend him. We bought an older house with original knob-and-tube wiring that needed to be replaced. We got four different quotes, ranging from large electrical companies to one-man shops. Melvin wasn't the cheapest, but he gave us the most complete quote and was thorough in checking in the attic, under the house, and at the breaker box during the quote. Melvin's quote was for the entire job and not by the hour. He gave us a written quote with the work to be done itemized. The work took four full days, including the city inspection. Melvin and his crew spent hours in the attic in the summer heat. Before they started, they had to map the wiring of the house, which turned out to be even crazier than they first thought. There were so many different eras of wiring in the house, it was like a Museum of Electrical Wiring. Following the mapping, they had to figure out where to re-route some wiring, as some circuits were very overloaded and others had little on them. They drew a map of the circuits, which they left with us for future reference. They replaced all the knob-and-tube wiring, which meant checking every plug, switch, and overhead fixture inside and outside the house. Along the way they found additional old wiring. They asked if we wanted to replace this wiring, which of course we did. So our total cost was slightly more than the original bid, but all additional work was discussed beforehand and an estimate was given so that we knew what to expect. The breaker box had been installed in such a manner that it was slightly away from the side of the house and was wobbly. Melvin reinstalled it so that it lies flat against the house and is secure. Melvin also added four wired smoke detectors protected by an arc fault breaker. He suggested this during the quote and we felt it was a good idea and appreciated the suggestion. At our request, he added a ceiling light over the shower in the Master bath, which we are very pleased with. We did the work before we moved in, so I would stop by during the day to see how things were going. Melvin always took the time to show me the progress they'd made, discuss any issues that had come up, and offer various options for what to do and how much additional it might cost (if anything). I felt very involved in the process and aware of the work being done in our house. All the steps were explained to me and if I didn't understand something, Melvin took additional time to make sure to explain anything I wanted to understand better so that I was comfortable with their work. This was a big job and decisions had to be made along the way. I appreciated Melvin's willingness to explain things to me so that I could make the best decisions. As things progressed during the work, I could tell that the wiring was much better allocated to the circuits in the house. Some of the lights had been very dim, as they had many plugs and lights pulling on one circuit. As the work progressed, suddenly lights would get brighter. It was exciting to finally be able to see well in the Master bath, which had been dimly lit on an overloaded circuit prior to Melvin's work. Melvin did an extensive re-wiring and electrical job for us and we were nervous that it could be a challenging project with ongoing issues. Instead it was as easy for us as it could be. Melvin was great to work with, did all work as bid, discussed any additional work with us as it came up, and completed the work on time. They even swept all the rooms and left the house clean. We are very, very pleased with Melvin's work and would be extremely confident in recommending him to anyone. We've now been moved into our house for two months. Melvin's electrical work has worked properly since the day he finished. We've had absolutely no problems or issues with it. We are extremely pleased with Melvin's work and will definitely hire him again for any electrical work we need to have done. We highly recommend Melvin for any electrical job, big or small.

Made appointment 10 days prior. When he was 1/2 hour late I called and he had forgotten my appointment, but came right over. He had the necessary parts with him and corrected the problem quickly. I particulary appreciated his honesty in not doing work that was unnecessary.

Overall, it all went very well. I got a quote first. On that day, Mr. Rodriquez answered all my questions (I ask a lot of questions). The price was reasonable. I thought about it for a short while and called him to ask him to do the job. That was a good decision! Mr. Rodriguez and his assistant did a great job. Communication was excellent, too, and I was notified when they were headed to my house. They worked steadily, did quality work and cleaned up at the end of the project. I have already contacted the company to do some other work around my house. I would definitely recommend Awesome Electric.
