Process started off with emails and phone calls to Richard. Richard was very pleasant to work with and he took the time to answer every single question I could think of over the course of my numerous emails and phone calls. His company has a great business model: No Sales Pitch, No Price Haggling, and No Commissions. On the day of the assessment/quote he was on time, tested the water and went over the results with me. All details regarding the system, price, and installation specifics were laid out for me. On installation day, Chester was right on time. Chester was very friendly and professional. He was very thorough with his work and left behind no mess at all. He checked to make sure I did not have any questions and thanked me for my business. I would highly recommend Aqua Systems to friends and neighbors. The water is great!

Customer, Thank you very much for the very thorough review. My next statement is a description of what we will call the "Ian Burnett"(IB) consumer...which is also a compliment to Ian. IB consumers ask A LOT of questions, they research the industry, products and the local market. IB consumers do their homework and this is exactly why we love IB consumers. You see, one of the hardest things for AquaSystems is sharing the truth but not sounding like other companies. The SIMPLE TRUTH is...we DO have the best mechanically engineered systems, the best warranty, the best overall value compared to any other product or company out there. The problem is every other lying salesman out there says the same thing. BUT, here is the difference...ask yourself why we are the only company that provides all prices, warranty information and pictures etc...up front. It's because we know the industry and products out there and we know we have best. We think it's nice allowing YOU to find this to be the truth as well. By being an IB consumer and doing your homework you will find the truth and make the right decision. If you let someone else make it for you...well you probably won't make the right decision because you were "sold". Ian Burnett sir....please continue to Love Your Water because you did your homework and you deserve it! Cheers.

Kudos to Richard and his company, you can tell he cares for his customers and his business. Richard arrived on time, tested my water, listened and answered all my questions. After evaluation of my home and water, I felt Richard gave me the best product and service that I needed without up selling me something I did not need. As for the installation; Chester was on time, professional, performed the install thoroughly and quick. Explained how the system works and to maintain it. I would highly recommend Aqua Systems to my family members or friends; based on service, price, and quality of their product.

They showed up for both the water testing and installation appointments on time. We couldn't have been happier with the way they answered all of our questions and were very easy to get a hold of. Installation took place without any issues and we are very happy with the results.
Description of Work: Quote, water test, and installation. In each phase AquaSystems was on exceptional. They came out to give a quote, and didn't mind that we were not going to be purchasing the system for a few months. No pushy sales pitch as all the pricing was upfront before they came out to test our water. No surprises just great service. Our water feels and tastes great thanks to the services provided by AquaSystems.

Richard was very nice to deal with. He came out and met with my husband and did a test on our water. He wasn't pushy, and didn't try to push us into purchasing the most expensive unit. We felt comfortable with him, and hired his company to install a water softener. His crew came out to install the softener and they were on time and very polite. I would hire this company again, and recommend them to anyone else looking to install a water softener.

Richard showed up on time and was careful to explain all the options to me. The pricing is all up front (which I like) so there's no sales pitch. I made a decision based upon his recommendation and we scheduled his work. His team showed up on time and did a great job. They were cordial, making sure not to have dirty shoes in the house, and explaining to me what they would do with the electrical outlet. I was concerned it was going to look good on the exterior of the house, but it looked great and the electrical line was placed well. Overall very happy and we're enjoying our great water now!

Thank you for your feedback Member. Yes we have excellent installers, they take a lot of pride in their work...they want it to be and look as perfect as possible. We pays our guys a lot more than what the industry pays, we believe this has a lot to do with having a positive attitude and taking pride in the job. Which brings me to, we are so busy we are looking to hire an experienced installer/service tech. If anyone knows anyone out there have them contact us. Ooops sorry Member, forgot this is your comment post, please continue to Love Your Water! Cheers.

I contacted this company for an estimate on a water softner system for our home after reading other reviews on Angie's List. Richard was quick to respond, sent information on the systems available including prices and set up an appointment to review the job. After checking other companies, we decided to purchase a system from Aqua Systems. Today the technicians arrived, installed the system and did a great job of cleaning up any debris from the job. We're very pleased with the installation.

Thanks for your great feedback Member. However we fell short in the way we do business, we got behind schedule that day, when this happens a courtesy call must take place by either the office or installer in the field, no excuses...neither one happened and we showed up I believe 1.5 to 2 hours behind schedule. We finished the job with no problems before the end of the day but we don't like being late. Our hopes are you continue to Love Your Water! Thanks again Member.

ner properly installed I initially had researched water softeners online and came across AquaSystems. Later I joined Angie's List and saw that they were rated very highly by other reviewers. I called Richard of AquaSystems and we discussed my situation. He forwarded to me via e-mail a wealth of information about new softeners and RO systems. After reviewing this information, I called Richard and set an appointment to meet at my house. Richard was extremely prompt and he thoroughly inspected my systems. In regards to the water softener he pointed out that it had been improperly installed and then proceeded to tell me how a new softener could be installed which would be more efficient and working properly. In regards to the RO system, he suggested that we just change out the filters and do what was called a "core replacement" which would actually save me several hundred dollars versus installing a new system. I was impressed with Richard's professionalism and knowledge and immediately "signed on the dotted line." We set an installation date and his two man crew arrived at the appointed time. They were very professional in both their appearance and knowledge. They removed and hauled off the old water softener and installed the new one with a drain line which would now function properly. They set up the electronics and explained how the softener worked, the warranty period, maintenance, etc. The only small glitch we had was that in their digging for the drain line they managed to cut my Comcast cable in two. They had a repair kit with them and promptly fixed it and told me to call Comcast for a more permanent fix. When I told Richard that Comcast said they would charge $ 50.00 for the repair call, he immediately deducted this amount from my invoice. I can't say enough positive things about this entire experience. I recommend that anyone who needs either a water softener or RO system call AquaSystems. You will not find a more professional company that is dedicated to 100% customer satisfaction.
Description of Work: My existing water softener system was giving me problems and my RO under sink water purification system also needed some attention. I had AquaSystems replace my old water softener and refurbish my RO system.

Thank you very much Member for your review. This is a great opportunity to bring up a common question or concern about installing a system..."How intrusive is this going to be / what happens if something gets cut or broke? Everything we do is by hand including the outside digging when required, so no digging machinery is used. Digging by hand allows our crews to literally be hands on normally avoiding any cable line cuts or irrigation line damage. However when this happens we fix and repairs on the spot. In Member's case we repaired the cable line back to working order but understand that Member had had issues in the past with a cable line that had multiple cuts/repairs in the past ultimately causing bad connection service so the cable company had just recently replaced the entire cable run with not cuts. This is an understandable concern/want by Member to want the cable company to come back out to do final inspect and repair on the line. Thank you again Member for your business and we hope you continue to Love Your Water!

We worked with Richard DeYoung, who came to our house and explained the pricing in good detail. By this time, we had also had two other companies provide proposals as well. One was a very "hard sell" on a very expensive system ($10K!!) and we were not looking forward to another, however, Richard was very up front and reasonable with his pricing and pleasant to deal with. We decided to go with Aqua Systems and have been very happy with the system. The installation went fairly smoothly and the tanks were partially buried outside the house behind some bushes so they are barely noticeable. The only slight glitches with the installation were a cut soaker hose, a damaged dryer vent cover and the low voltage cable needed to be tacked to the mortar. These items were all taken care of the following week. Since we found Aqua Systems on Angie's List (a highly rated company), there was a coupon for the first six month's maintenance, which saved about $80. We did have to send an e-mail reminder to the company that the time was due, and we actually ran out of salt. They did come up and top off the tank and also added a UV-resistant cover to the electronics module, which was nice. We have been enjoying our soft water and it really makes a difference when taking a shower and washing the clothes. We would recommend Aqua Systems to anyone considering a water softener for their home.

They showed up in the time given. They checked the system and reset it as we hadn't realized it had cut off due to a power outage earlier in the month---he then also informed as to how to handle it if it happened again. He added salt to the system and then tested the water and reported the test results to me.

Thank you Member for feedback. I would like to add that Member is a perfect example of us "adopting" a customer and system that was installed by another company that has either not done a good enough job or simply went out of business. Unfortunately for the consumer a lot of companies come and go in the water industry. AquaSystems has been in business for 54 years and our Houston Office has served the Houston and surrounding area for 13 years this November, 2012...Thank You Houston!

The president of the company, Richard DeYoung, came over for initial consultation and evaluation. Richard was very punctual and seems very like a very honest person. He addressed all my concerns and questions. He didn't try to sell me his most expensive systems but instead only the system that will work most efficiently with our house. I was given a 1 hour time window for appointment which is great because other companies seem to be more like 4 hour time windows. They arrived on time and was very professional and knowledgeable about their work. They answered every question I had with sincerity and they seem to care. They took off their shoes before entering on the inside of the home. The installation of the both the outside soft water system and the inside reverse osmosis system looks very clean and they did not leave a mess. One of the deciding factors that I chose this company (besides for the AngiesList A rating) was because of their long warranty. The soft water system has a 7 years labor and the reverse osmosis has a 5 years labor.
Description of Work: We had a soft water system and a reverse osmosis system installed at our house. The soft water system was installed on the outside of the house and the system was inserted between the main water line and the house. The salt container was filled with 160lbs of salt for free. The reverse osmosis was installed underneath the sink and it was also connected to the refrigerator ice and water line. I will no longer have to change out the refrigerator water/ice filter which will save me some money.

Customer, Thank you for your feedback. We would like to expand on the last comment Daniel made in regards to AquaSystems 7 Year In Home Service Policy. You will not find a water systems manufacturer that goes beyond 12 months in labor other than AquaSystems. Our warranty is clear and up front and is confined to 4 small paragraphs on one page, we have nothing to hide and the consumer has nothing unlike the industry's usual long and fine printed warranties. We have a limited lifetime warranty with the first 7 Years covering all parts, all labor, not even a service call fee. WOW...unheard of in the water industry. And with AquaSystems lifetime exchange program for the valve and resin, there is a reason we have said for years...This could very well be the last system you ever own." Thank you again for your business Daniel and continue to LOVE YOUR WATER!

thank you for the feedback Member, it looks like spell check through off your last comment so I will take this opportunity to clarify and "talk it up" a little. What we installed for you was AquaSystems SmartChoice GEN II City, this in itself is a whole home water softener and high catalytic carbon filtration system. It removes hard minerals and chlorine, chloramines and other VOC chemicals before the water even enters your home. In addition we installed AquaSystems PC4 reverse osmosis system in your kitchen to truly polish off your cooking and drinking water making it a very smooth yes..."wetter" water. This is a non-proprietary filter system meaning filters can be purchases at any home improvement store or us...simply put the filters cost very little. We thank you again for your business and trust, please continue to love your water! ; )

I had a wonderful experience - I would definitely recommend this company to friends and family. I have been using the product for several months now - and am thrilled: my hair, clothes, dishes, and even the bathroom glass are spotless! Such a difference and well-worth every penny.
Description of Work: I had a wonderful experience with Richard DeYoung. I knew I wanted a Water Softener System, but had been debating between Models/companies. Richard explained the pros/cons of his device, without pushing the product, answered my questions, and appeared very knowledgeable about the product and it's specifics. He actually tested the water, and talked me down from buying the most expensive/efficient product. Very different from my experience with another company: where I was dismissed as a woman, the salesperson arrived in an unprofessional manner, and felt pressured to buy, because they came out for an assessment. The installation went just as smoothly, with comprehensive explanations, and follow-up service.

We'd been researching water softeners for a while, and had a few companies do a demo and give a quote. Their prices were, quite frankly, outrageous, and therefore discouraged by that we kept putting it off. However, we were also getting quite sick of the spotting; materials corroding (just two days after Richard's initial visit we had to replace our water heater, which had become corroded beyond belief); scale-filled shower walls; and so on and thus were quite ready to have a softener installed. Finally our favorite big box store got a water softener that seemed very affordable but when I started researching installation costs (our detached garage requires a 120-ft return pipe install back to the feed-in to the house) we canceled those plans as well. A few days later we found Richard DeYoung's company on a local website and called him. We were immediately impressed that he sent us documents via email that made the whole process very transparent. Prices for standard installs, optional equipment etc were outlined in black-and-white. There were no price games or any of the price-inflating "options" that are usually thrust on unwilling and often ignorant customers. Because this whole 'upfront pricing' and 'open process' seemed so unusual and radical, we requested Richard to stop by our home for a quote. He arrived on time and patiently answered questions and clarified doubts for nearly 1.5 hours. He tested our water and showed the hardness levels and also the chlorine levels, both of which needed to be remediated. He was obviously very knowledgeable and there was NO HARD SELL. In fact, he insisted I went for a smaller system than the one I wanted because he said that for my home the smaller one was more in line with our needs. Because there are no commissions involved (he owns the company) there was no need to inflate the prices. Further, they offer a 7-year warranty on parts and labor, which I thought was very generous and tremendously reassuring. Installation was scheduled for June 26 in the morning time but somehow the crew ran late and I had to make a couple of calls to get the crew's current schedule. This was the only (trivial) bump in the whole process. His crew arrived around 2 PM, and immediately set down to work. I could see they put in a lot of effort to affect as little grass as possible near the sidewalk and were extremely careful not to disturb any existing lines. The work was very hard because they had to run a line all the way from the water meter to the garage and back (Richard called it "the 120-foot job"). Despite the difficulty of the task on a really hot and humid day, Chester and his helper did a fantastic job and were obviously very competent and experienced. The installtion took around 4 hours, and then Chester did a demo of the system and walked me through some of the features. You can tweak it to suit your home's water usage should things change (such as guests/a new arrival etc) and so the system is very configurable/flexible. Richard's company also offers a maintenance service (per 6 months it runs $89 for my system) and they also offer a referral service wherein referring customers get $50 towards their maintenance services if the person being referred installs a system; this provides even more incentive to customers to refer others. I definitely plan on referring my friends to Richard's company (have already talked to two of my buddies and they're interested). Based on the price, quality, integrity, knowledge, competence, and respect shown to his customers, I have no hesitation in recommending Richard to those that are looking to install a water softener (I think they also install RO systems but because we already had one we didn't look into it).

After moving into my house I noticed my clothes weren't getting 'real' clean and that all of my stainless appliances were getting water spots - - I decided to look into water softening system. I talked to a friend that was building a new house -- she and her husband are both engineers and did A LOT of research and decided to go with Aqua Systems... with their recommendation and great reviews I decided to contact the company. Richard was very responsive and quickly gave me a suggestion. They post their prices online which is nice, no sales or negotiating. Richard came out to my house to do an evaluation and made his final recommendation. I decided to put the tank and system in the garage, so we went through the various options of where to place the system and run the various lines (pipes, electric etc.) His crew arrived on time and did a good job getting everything installed. The pipes, drainline and power cord do show but were all installed professionally - it doesn't really bother me because it is in the garage but something worth mentioning.I have had the system for over a month now and LOVE it. My clothes are coming out of the washing machine so much cleaner and NO water spots on my faucets. I am a happy camper and would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I bought the SmartChoice GEN II. The installation crew showed up right on time and quickly got to work. They were here for about 3 hours and had everything installed just as we discussed. The rep gave me a Water system "crash course" - - the system is pretty easy so it didn't take too much time. They were done on time and did a good job. My only compliant is that they left behind these little u-shaped nails which I found all over my garage. Luckily none ended up in my tires but I am sure this was just an oversight as they cleaned up everything else. I also felt like the glue they used to seal the water pipes got into the water line and for a few days I kept smelling the glue in the water (smelled like paint thinner) but it quickly vanished and I LOVE MY SYSTEM!!

Richard came out to meet with me in advance. He spent time understanding our needs and checking our water quality. We discussed our options and chose the unit that was right for us. We scheduled the work for 4 weeks later and they showed up right on time. The installers were courteous, polite and diligent. They knew exactly what to do, just as Richard and I had discussed, and went straight to work. They installed the water salt container and dug a hole for the softener. They connect the drain and gave me training on how to operate the system. That evening I noticed the water pressure appeared to be a little low. I called Richard and he came right over. He discovered that the main water line wasn't completely turn on. That fixed the problem. Richard was courteous and responsive. I was a bit embarassed that I didn't think to do it. The system has worked wonderfully since installation and we are very happy with the soft water. The invoice was exactly the amount that we discussed. I liked that everything was revealed up front and both services and fees were exactly as we agreed. Great communication, great price, great service, great results.

After an exhaustive search lasting over a year, I had pretty much given up on finding a reputable and affordable company to install a water softener in our home. However, after I did (what I expected to be) the last search on Angie's List for this category, I found Richard De Young's company, Advanced Water Solutions. The score I gave his company would be entirely A's and I would have nominated him for a Service Award if he were the only person at the company that I had to deal with. Richard is FANTASTIC. He's responsive, punctual, professional, and, most surprisingly, honest. So many of the water softener companies will try to sell you all kinds of crap you don't actually need just to inflate their bottom line but Richard steered us towards a less expensive model than we were initially expecting to purchase, saving us about $400 in the process. On top of that, his quote was nearly $1,000 less than the least expensive quote we had received from any other company. Again, Richard was absolutely fantastic. His install team, however, is another story. Due to the excellent experience that we had with Richard, we decided to purchase a water softener and carbon filtration stack from him and installation was scheduled for 3 days later (another aspect I was impressed with since every other company wanted to wait 1-2 weeks). The install team rang my doorbell at exactly 9 am as scheduled. They were very polite and explained everything that they would be doing, then got to work. They installed the system on the outside of my house along one side directly behind the gate for my fence. Because I live in a neighborhood with very small lots (about 55' wide), the installers had to install 2 pavers below the salt tank to make sure it stayed level and upright. They also dug down between 1-2 feet for the actual softener to be as stable as possible. Everything with the installation seemed to go perfectly, although they weren't terribly careful about making a really muddy mess in an area where I've struggled to grow grass due to a lack of adequate sunlight. It wasn't until about a month later when I turned my sprinkler system back on that I discovered the problem. The install team had hit one of my sprinklers whenever they were digging so the sprinkler just flooded the area instead of watering only the appropriate amount. Unfortunately since my sprinklers go off at 4:30 am, I didn't notice this until about 2 weeks later when I was adjusting my sprinkler system. (I don't walk along that side of my house often because it's narrow and awkward.) The broken sprinkler had completely washed away the grass seeds that I planted leaving a very muddy mess. I called Richard on a Friday afternoon to let him know what had happened. He apologized very sincerely and let me know that he would have someone come out the following morning to come and fix the problem. The technician arrived exactly at 7:30 am as Richard had promised, apologized for the mistake, and got to work. He dug up the area, found the broken pipe, and replaced it. However, and I didn't realize this until later, the technician did not scoop out the excess water in the hole that he dug so the area remained squishy for quite some time until I dug out the area myself and scooped out the water. Unfortunately, this is still not the end of the story. About a month later, my wife and I noticed that our water quality seemed to be deteriorating; the water didn't feel soft anymore and we began seeing spots on our dishes as if we didn't have a softener at all. (Why it took us a month to notice the difference, I don't know.) We checked the salt reserve tank and we still had plenty of salt. The weird thing was that the small computer attached to the system said zero flow even when we knew that we had water running. My wife called Richard to explain the problem and he told her he would come out the following day to take a look himself. He arrived exactly on time (for the 3rd time, Richard is fantastic) and took a look at the system. The problem was very simple but very stupid as well. His technician that had come out to fix the broken sprinkler pipe had left the system on "Bypass", meaning that no water was actually going thru the system and it WAS as if we didn't have a water filtration/softener system again. Richard was incredibly apologetic and visibly angry because of what his technician had done. He added 2 bags of salt free of charge and let us know that our next service would also be free because of the problems (I believe the service is around $89 every 6 months). As soon as Richard fixed the problem, we noticed the improvement in our water quality. I believe the problems have all been fixed now but I'm still having trouble growing grass in the area that the installers tore up and subsequently (although, indirectly) flooded. However, if I had to do it again, I would still buy from Advanced Water Solutions without a second thought solely because of Richard. His customer service is fantastic, his prices are amazing, and he owns up to and corrects any mistakes that were made by his install team. From reading other reviews, it seems as though my experience was an isolated incident and I'm glad for that because we need more honest people like Richard in an otherwise very dishonest industry.

Richard came out and gave a wonderful explanation of all that could be done and what he had to offer. My husband was not available to be in on the presentation but Richard gave me several "handouts" and emails with information that I could share with my husband. We ended up putting in the complete house system and the RO system for drinking water. The day of install - the workers were very professonal, worked hard and cleaned up everything after they were done. They also explained the complete system to my husband any myself for future reference. About 1 week later - our drinking water was not tasting right and it had a slight smell. I immediatley called Richard and that very day he had the same technician/installer come out to the house to troubleshoot our problem. He flushed out the system and everything turned out ok. I was extremely please with the fast response with our little issue and that the same tech was able to come out and help again. I would recommend this company and their water systems to all my friends and family. Thank you Richard and your techs for a job well done!

The process went perfect from the time Richard came out to test the water through the softener being installed. 2 weeks later we noticed that our washer was turning the clothes colors and I called Richard to make sure that our water softener was working right. He came over the very next morning and tested the hardness of the water as well as the iron levels to make sure that everything was working fine. I found that the problem was from our washer and was very appreciative that Richard insisted on taking the time to double check his work instead of trying to blame the washer. I will refer Advanced Water Solutions to anyone who is looking for a Water Softener or filter. It's nice to know that there are still companies out there that take customer service seriously!!!!!!!
Description of Work: Richard with Advanced Water Solutions came out tested the water and gave me options on what Water Softener would work for the size of our house and family. They came out on Saturday evening and had the softener installed in about an hour. The great thing about Advanced Water Solutions is that the pricing is on the website and there are no hidden cost. Richard and his employees were very professional while at our house.
