American Stained Glass Co

Wow. I wish I'd read the reviews before I decided to buy glass from them. I went on their website, picked three pieces of 8" x 8" glass that were listed as $8.95 each, put them in my cart, choose $0 ground shipping, credit card info and placed order. I got an email receipt showing the glass and $0 shipping and a total of $26.85. Cool. A week later the woman calls and says the website is wrong and that the pieces of glass were actually $12.95 each and did I still want them. I said I had to think about it. The next day I shopped all over online again and it was still a better price because of the free shipping, so I called her back and said go ahead with the order. The box arrived today with an invoice/receipt and the credit card bill of sale - for $70.31! What? Turns out they'd added on $31.43 in shipping! I went back on the website because I'd remembered reading that there was a minimum dollar amount to place an order and thought maybe I'd misinterpreted that as how you get free shipping. I put stuff in my cart and it shows the total and the option for $0 ground shipping. Then at the bottom of the page (you have to scroll) I see, in tiny font, "Orders will be shipped UPS Ground - Unless otherwise specified. Shipping charges will be added to your total, when your package is weighed prior to shipping ALL SALES ARE FINAL We suggest that you always check your shopping cart to make sure , you have ordered what you intended to order, before submitting your your order." Wow. So, first of all, it doesn't matter if you made a mistake on your website, the law in stores is that if you post a price, you have to honor it. I let that go without any argument, but this shipping nonsense - no way. I chose them because of the free shipping. So, I called her today and very nicely started to explain that I had no idea there was going to be a shipping charge - and she hung up on me! What? Are you 12? I called back several times over the next 1/2 hour and she'd let it go to voice mail except once when she picked up but wouldn't say anything! Wow. So, I contested the charge with my credit card company and they approved it immediately. I am happy to know that American Stained Glass Company will have to eat that shipping charge. Do NOT do business with this sneaky, bait and switch, crappy customer service company.
