Very badly!

★★★★★ 04/24/2019 If American Knights had moved me every time I've moved in my life I could be a professional vagabond. My move entailed moving my furniture and belongings from a residence and storage, then to storage a hundred miles away, and finally into a newly remodeled residence. During the remodeling process, which took 6 months, I had to get in and out of the units for various items. The move itself was handled as though I were a true VIP instead of a weary retired school teacher. I was concerned about needing to access my belongings from storage units over a period of months, but the movers had my things so thoughtfully organized that getting things in and out as I needed them was a breeze. Now that the move is finished, the remodel complete, and everything in its permanent place I can only say this was the best move ever! Great people to work with from my initial call until I waved good-bye, and the price....really reasonable. Misti and David and team did a great job!

The movers at both pick-up and drop off were excellent. They worked very hard, were ontime, were respectful and did a great job disaasembling and assembling my furniture. I also stored my items for about a month and found everything to be in good shape when they arrived at my new home.

WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD WITH A SERVICE PROVIDER!!! Their contract stated 2 day move (despite my questioning 2 days), AK said that is why Henry, their estimator came to our home and it would be finished in 2 days. First day, 9-11 am window but arrived at nearly 12. There was 4 men as written in contract this day, but 1 man packed items marked clearly "STAY" and spent most of his time finding and repacking. The next morning when I went to get 2 muffins for my husband and I for breakfast they were gone and the empty wrappers on the counter for me to through away. We had to go out for breakfast. Who eats other people's food? Only 3 men came on the 2nd day. I wanted more packers but no others were sent. By evening we were left at new home WITHOUT A BED TO SLEEP IN OR CLEAN CLOTHES FOR THE NEXT DAY. I'm too old to sleep on the floor! Worst of all, my husband and I had to take off work the following day to be here for our belongings. American Knights contract stated 2 day move and this is one reason we chose this company, but cost us big in loss wages. My husband called every day trying to resolve our issues with this company but American Knights refuse to return our calls! PLEASE, FOR YOUR OWN PEACE DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!

Sales personnel were great, but everything changed once contract was agreed. Had to chase them down to find out when they were coming, and then had to deal with changing stories of when my goods would be delivered. No communication that I did not initiate after the pickup, and at one point the dispatcher straight up lied and told me that my goods had already left Houston. It too over 23 days from pickup to get delivered in Milwaukee. The crews were careless with furniture and boxes at times, running into railings and not paying attention to fragile or this side up markings. The worst move of my life!

My wife and I have done numerous cross-counry moves using movers. This move was unparalleled in its atrociousness. The estimator gave a telephone estimate that was consistent with on site estimate, being within $100 of the other high and low estimates received on site. On the day of the move, we were told the actual cost would be $1700 higher than the just under $5000 quoted. On the day of the move, they arrived late. During the course of the move, one of the team used a restroom, but failed to tell us that he let our cats loose when he did so. As a result, we spent many anxious hours searching for the cat. We noticed that the loss of the cat did not produce any worry in the team. They offered not so much as an expression of concern or an apology. They at no point told us that the cats had been let out. We got to discover that on our own. I let their level of worry be the level at which I tipped them. The household goods arrived later than we were told they would be there. The driver made a point of trying to force us to pay in cash or other untraceable instrument. When, after an angry call to the dispatcher, they agreed to take the credit card they and been taking, they now made it up to themselves by adding just under 5% to the bill. They clearly preferred to receive bags of cash. The team at the Missouri end worked hard, though not so hard as to shame the driver into doing anything like hooking up the washer and dryer, assembling bookshelves, or the bed. He did let us know how tired he was by leaving a trashcan-sized ball of tape and empty drink containers at the end of our driveway when he departed to make a delivery to another victim. In all, I would encourage anybody to use a reputable company like Mayflower or United to conduct their move. I never had any experiences like this when I used them. My wife and i had hoped to give business to a smaller firm that had assured us they were seeking to expand their business. We were foolish to listen to their empty, lying promises of excellence.

I was left hanging by another moving company. American Knights came out to my home immediately. They were quick and efficient but they were not frantic. They were like well oiled machine and they did not waste any time. They were very professional and polite. They were upfront and honest about pricing. I give them an A+ for getting me out of a bad situation.

The packing was good, took longer than expected however all made it fairly well. A few things broken mostly picture glass and then one table that I can repair. They did a good job of packing and cleaning the mess. The crew was very polite and friendly. I would be very clear that you want details marked on each box. Not every item yet where it came from and basic contents. Small details like why would only one stereo connection be in a box instead of both since it's a small cord? i am still trying to find boxes that were put in storage versus in my new home. I was very clear on that. I will be more thorough on clarity on what my needs are with regard to marking with this next time. Overall I'm satisfied with the work provided including the quote and the attitude of the crew!

Overall, it was a nightmare for my husband and me. American Knights Moving and Storage told us about 3 days ahead, that they would arrive with our furniture on a Wednesday. On Tuesday, when we called to confirm, after several attempts to get answers, they then changed the day to Thursday. Then on Thursday, after waiting in an empty house for hours for them to arrive and hearing nothing from them, we started trying to call them. After several attempts to reach them by phone, only to get answering machines in the Dispatch Department, and after 3 calls, reaching a snarky fella named Mark, the guy who sold us the service, (“I don’t deal with dispatch! And I don’t sell ‘policies.’ I’m not an insurance salesman!”) we finally managed to get through and ask for a supervisor. We were told by a very nice man named Dwayne that the furniture would arrive on SUNDAY morning at the latest. Sadly, the furniture did not arrive on Sunday morning. The driver phoned to say it would be Sunday night or early Monday morning. On Monday morning, we received a text message saying it would be Monday afternoon between 2-4pm. Then later the driver called, asking for our address. A moving company needs to ask us for our address? That’s scary! So, in all, the delivery was 5 days late. In that 5 days this company initiated a total of three communications to us and they were all from the truck driver letting us know of his eminent arrival. Once we signed the contract and paid the fee, we chased this company, mostly unsuccessfully, begging for answers. All messages left on their answering machine went unanswered as did all emails. I even left a message one day saying, “We’re sitting in our empty house waiting for your truck today but haven’t heard anything about what time. Can you please call us?” No answer. Their extreme tardiness and lack of communication cost us a lot of time and money. While sitting in an empty house waiting for them, we had to buy an air mattress, sheets, pillows and towels, not to mention paper plates and plastic utensils and we ate out a lot since we had no way to cook. We did not have a chair to sit in for 5 days. When the big moment came and our stuff finally arrived, we were shocked to see a Mayflower truck pull up with only two guys aboard to unload our whole house full of furniture, which of course meant my husband felt obliged to help. It took the 3 of them 3 hours to unload. The two guys were nice enough and wanting to be helpful, which we appreciated. However, as I expected by this time, the promise I got from my American Knights Moving and Storage salesman, Mark, that the movers would haul away the extensive load of packing materials was a lie. They don’t do that and never have, despite my assurance that, “I’m sure we can work that out. No problem,” in order to get my business. We picked American Knights because they had an “A” rating on Angie’s List. How sad that a service provider can go from great to horrible so quickly. Folks, don’t EVER use this company if you’re planning a move in which timeliness is important. If you’re moving a box of stuff in which it really doesn’t matter when it gets there or whether you have much information along the way, then maybe this company is fine. But if it’s your household furniture and goods and it DOES matter when that stuff arrives, do yourself a favor and go to someone else. I have moved quite a few times, including overseas, and this is the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Upon further investigation, I hear that the moving business is a very seedy one in which our experience was pretty common. If I had it to do again, I would not move in the summer when it’s so busy. Pick a nice quiet time of year and you’ll have a better chance of more acceptable service.

I called several companies to obtain estimates for my move from Dayton, Ohio, to Houston, Texas. I chose American Knights Moving and Storage because their prices and availability fit my budget and timeframe. I also was impressed with the cooperation I received from Theresa in their Houston office planning the move. We arranged to have the items I had previously placed in public storage to be picked up on September 5, 2012. Cameron, the driver for the pickup crew, called me in advance to let me know when he would arrive and to confirm the pickup address. He arrived on time and explained the details involved in interstate moving. He and his crew loaded the truck carefully and efficiently wrapping and packing everything to protect each item. The 190 owner-packed boxes were fitted into the truck like pieces of a puzzle; no loose boxes that could fall. It took most of the day to load everything. I was impressed with the professionalism and courtesy of the crew. A few days later, I was notified that the delivery would be made on September 21. The truck arrived as scheduled and the crew began unloading the items and placing them in the rooms per my directions. Again, this new crew was equally professional and courteous as was the first crew. They handled everything carefully and positioned furniture where we wanted it. All items were delivered in very good condition. It took most of the day to unload and place the funiture and boxes where they belonged. The charges for the move were paid as agreed upon. After I opened all of the boxes and inspected all of the funiture, I found a couple of owner-packed drinking glasses broken (my fault), a very few scratches on a couple of pieces of wood furniture, and one broken knob on the clothes dryer. I did not find enough damage to even report it to American Knights. All in all, our interstate move met or exceeded all my expectations. American Knights handled the move professionally, courteously, as scheduled, and for the agreed upon price. I would recommend American Knights Moving and Storage and would use them again without question! Robert Annas

They had a good quote and they were actually a little bit lower than the company we went with. They had a little bit of negative feedback on Angie's List so we went with another company. They weren't aggressive but they were persistent in calling me back. They definitely wanted my business. They didn't have a good answer when I mentioned there was some negative feedback on the internet. Up until the day that we made our decision they were calling and emailing me in order to get our business. If I hadn't had another alternative I would have used them.

They first gave us a quote on how much the move would cost. They provided free boxes and packing tape ahead of time. On moving day they showed up when promised and took great care with our belongings. They wrapped all of the furniture needing wrapping, carefully boxed items that they felt should be boxed, and left us satisfied with the job done. I found NOTHING broken or scratched from the move.

I recently had to move my daughter from Dallas to Houston. We both are on a limited budget did not want to undercut the level of service for cost .I searched the internet and completed a request form on line I received 14 different responses from various companies. Out of 14 quotes there were about 5 that were very low and about 4 that were around the same price. By the way the Quotes were all late except American Knights and another company. I did my homework and researched the 4 companies most of them were new and when I checked the dot website ( www.protectyourmove.gov )they only had 1 truck (This meant they were a broker) So I decided to go with American Knights - What sold me? American Knights has been in business for over 10 years under the same name and location, carries out the job from A-Z (does not broker out the job), and has great ratings . And most important my sales consultant - Lisa I imagine she is surreal. She is the hope all Companies need to stick to, because good personal service still exists. She was on top Of every detail and every question I had. Lisa explained to me what is excluded from the other rates and that the price is based on the capacity of the move. After a closer look at the other lower quotes I noticed that although I provided the same list of items to all movers some choose to base their quote on half of the capacity to appear cheaper. American knights provided me a true estimate and guaranteed that the price will not increase. The day before the move, I got a call from my driver, Carlos. He said they would be there around 9 am. Move day comes and they got there at 9:10 not too bad! They started working immediately and took care of everything. Any concern I had they were more than happy to address! They loaded up everything in no time and got on their way. And my final bill did not increase. The price I was quoted by Lisa was the final price I paid- not a dime more :-)Lisa and American Knights Moving, thank you for making a very stressful time in our lives a worry free and pleasant experience I will definitely be using American Knights Moving for any move needs in the future and would definitely recommend them to anyone!

We called them after a highly rated Angie's List moving company was very unhelpful. They had a representative out the next day and we started moving the day after that. They thought they could get us moved in 1 day with a 3 man crew. They wound up bringing in 3 more men the first day and sent a 3 man crew the second day. They worked 11-12 hours each day to make sure we got moved. The price was good considering the number of men, boxes, and trucks they wound up having to use.

Out of all my moving experiences this was by far the worst. They broke items and luckily I had additional insurance to cover it. The people for the claim hung up on me and had poor communication.
