The final product looked great and significantly improved the look and aesthetics of the patio area. It created a beautiful show place which we expect to enjoy for many years. We did appreciate the fact that the installation crew continued their weekday work over an entire weekend to ensure that the project completion would be expedited, since it encountered some issues noted below: Getting to that point involved a great deal of unnecessary stress for us: - On 3 occasions, the installation crew was: 2 hours late one day; 4 hours late another day and did not show up on another day, and didn't bother to call us when these inconveniences occurred. - Before the project started, we received a nice introductory letter from the project oversight manager, introducing himself and letting us know to contact him during the course of the project, however, he went on vacation during the majority of the project and was not reachable until the completion date neared. - We had ongoing communications issues with the on-site foreman because he didn't follow our specific pattern and color requirements, with the crew sometimes beginning those phases of the installation work without first allowing us to provide input on the patterns, grout and expansion joint colors. Most of the problems were resolved by the local representative, who intervened to rectify our issues. Our confidence in the on-time reliability (showing up at the job site at the promised time or providng an advance courtesy call when the can't) of contractors remains questionable but the quality of their work diminishes some of the frustrations we face.
Description of Work: Perform tear out of some flagstone areas of the pool/patio area, install new concrete in those areas, install simulated stone surface, install grout in joints and expansion joints over the entire pool/patio area.

In our experience, we received poor quality product that cracked weeks after it was laid. That company is very unprofessional. The company took us to arbitration to collect their money, because we didn't consider the job done or complete, as there were patches that had been fixed with cracks still in place. We still have many cracks and chips in the product. We've experienced poor customer service, dishonesty, and poor quality. Currently, we have to spend atleast another $20,000 to fix this. We just want to make other members of Angie's List aware of our poor experience.

- UPDATE- After a negative review on Angie list I was contacted by regional manager who committed to "make it right". A new team was sent who quickly repaired - not patched - the problem areas. The pool apron looks considerably better. There are still some minor remaining issues that are being worked, but overall, this company has redeemed itself in my eyes.

We contacted them to get an estimate on installing decking over our current pool deck as well as adding a sidewalk and possible small slab. They called us back promptly on 8/29 to schedule the appointment for 9/2 at 7:30 p.m. When they spoke with my husband, they told him to make sure we were both present for the estimate and to see their products. That was the last we heard from them. No confirmation call or email and a no-show for the appointment. I'm glad I left work early so I could be home for them to not show up. To date, we never heard from them. We were very excited to work with them based on their reputation and reviews, but we were never given the opportunity.

[member name removed], I am so sorry to hear about your frustration. I am wondering if perhaps we have been mixed up with another company? We do not have anyone by your name or address in our system. We are certainly capable of making a mistake but I cannot find any evidence that this could have been us. If you could, please reach out to me either here or on my cell phone....281-513-4656. Requested Jordan from Allied outdoor solutions come out and give myself and a neighbor a bid. They were not the cheapest price but fair and he had a good sales pitch along with stating that he believed we would not need additional drainage. We decided to use them and the prep and poor went pretty good. The neighbor had a few small issues with dipping in water pooling but nothing too great concern. Unfortunately shortly there after we ended up having some heavy rains and my backyard became a swimming pool 6 inches deep. Unfortunately, it took Jordan almost 3 months to get a contractor back out due to crew scheduling issues and work load. We were told by the original contractor, Angel, that they would put a drain in the lawn and it would not be visible. I came home to find a 30 foot random line of rock in my yard. I called Jordan and expressed my disapproval with the work. We both agreed that I would remove the items that were installed and leave them on the side of the house for his guys to come pick up. We called it a wash. Although a lack of urgency on their part, Jordan was always professional and overall, pleasant to deal with.
Description of Work: An A for the quality of my patio. Although it took a few months for them to come out and install a drain system; Jordan has since called me and we have made amicable amends. I would definitely use them again for a concrete pour.
They do an overlay and cut that out and make it look like stone. It's great, it's pretty. They were very nice and polite. It was 2 people. The first day they came out and put stuff on it that had to dry overnight. The next day they tented it and sealed it and they were done. I had one man that spoke english and one that did not. The one that did speak english was really nice and respectful and the one that didn't was really proud of his work. They both did a good job and they cleaned up everything. They were nice men.

Very punctual throughout. The initial consult occured a day or two after I called. Everything was straight forward and the financing options were very flexible. The good thing about this company (Houston Concrete is who handles the concrete work for Allied) is they give you an extimate the day of the consult. If they end up needing more concrete or there are some unforseen issues, they don't raise the price on you...no hidden costs. I was told there would be about a month's wait before they could start- it was the busy season, but luckily they were able to begin about a week earlier than expected. Start to finish, it took 3 days to complete. They poured a 390 sq ft concrete patio with stamped concrete border plus a step. It looks awesome- better than I ever expected. Everyone was professional and most importantly, they cleaned up after themselves. I've had contractors in the past leave a mess that you don't really stumble across until a few days later, like washing out paint buckets or concrete on the side of the house. These guys were great. Reason I gave them a B on Price is because they aren't the cheapest....but that's why I chose them. Price is definately worth the quality. They also followed up with a call about a week after the work was done to make sure we were satisfied with everything. I would recommend them to anyone looking for patio work.

We had our pool remodeled and needed our stamped concrete patio and pool deck restained. After nine years, the color was almost gone and in places that got full sun, the concrete was white. They came out and measured, but their measurement was way off. Fortunately I had the original plan as laid by the pool constructor showing the exact measurement of concrete, and he readily accepted this figure. We signed a contract and paid a down payment of 10% and set a date. The workers showed up on time and set to work. First they thoroughly cleaned the concrete, then acid washed it. They mixed several new colors and applied it to patches to see which one we liked best and which matched the flagstone coping aournd our pool best. We chose one which they applied followed by two coats of a sealant. They also told me that if once a year I applied a sealant, the color would last much longer. They told me I could do this with a paint roller and approximately how much it should cost. I appreciated the advice on maintaining the concrete. They did an excellent job, and our patio looks great. I would definitely recommend them.

We established what we wanted in terms of the way the patio should drain. We talked at length to the salesman about it, and they did something else. It ended up being a contentious kind of thing. The workmanship they did was fine. They did not turn the sales agreement into some kind of operating plan. I told the guy that. I told him that I talked to their salesman at length about how I wanted that done, and that their crew came out and did something else. Some of it is an internal communications problem. The quality of the work was high. It just didn’t drain the way I wanted it to drain. My overall experience with them was mixed. I selected them because we talked about drainage and agreed on a plan. They settled with me by reducing the price. It is still unsatisfactory. I would tell others to make sure that if they have any requirements for the work; they should make it well known and make it clear to them. Then when they show up work, they should go over that before they start digging. With regard to price, I really don’t know, but I think it was a reasonable price. This has an arbor and a lot of other things associated with it; it is not just concrete. I didn’t go out and get a bunch of bids. Even though it wasn’t done the way I wanted it, the quality of the workmanship was excellent. We dealt with our differences in a civil manner; Drew was civil.

I had several companies come out for estimates, and many were cheaper, however after meeting with Allied, I decided to go with them. Several factors helped me make this decision. First they were on time and very professional. Justin their sales rep explained what they needed to do and why to obtain the estimate. After doing some very complete measurements and talking to me about what I envisioned happening. He provided several options. Based on our base of concrete, the fact I wanted the concrete wrapped down the sides, I chose the carvestone. We set the date, and the team that came out was spectacular. The four guys went right to work. They washed down the concrete, and when complete mixed and covered the concrete with the carvestone base. It was neat to watch. These guys were very professional and polite. Once the carvestone had set, their head designer started carving grout lines to make stone designs, they followed the crack line as a base so that the grout lines covered the crack area, but you would never know that is what it was doing when it was done. I wanted a straight border edge, so they carved rectangle shaped in various sizes around the edging and wrappped the carvestone down the sides to the ground, cutting in grout lines as they did it. While it was drying they took two large boards and covered it with the carvestone compound. When that formed, they cut grout lines in stone shapes, and let it dry. They then brought out the color mix and that was the fun part. These guys went out of their way to try to match what we wanted, and we didn't even really know what we wanted. We started with a Sunset or Arizone Mesa colors. They did burnt red, orange, browns, and I couldn't believe it, when they were done with the board, it was perfect. They did two of them and we chose one. The next day they came back to put on the color and we had changed our mind and decided on board two which had a little more brown and less red, and no problems, they got right to work and it was amazing. The head designer told me he would just start and decide where to put the colors and it worked perfectly. He would do one stone area, back away, look, choose another color do the next stone, etc. When it was done it was amazing, our back porch looked totally different. Then we picked the grout color and away they went. When it was done, we couldn't beleive the difference. The change was well worth the price difference in other companies, the detail blew us away. They came back one more day to put the clear seal on it, but unfortunately it rained that afternoon and some of the sealant turned white. No problem, they came back out and did it again and it was perfect. They also let me know I could reseal it myself or give them a call and they could come out and clean it and reseal it again whenever needed. I love this company and would recommend them to anyone who wants a FANTASTIC job done
We wanted to add a patio area in our backyard. The area outside our back door was mostly plain concrete and a patch of dirt where bushes used to be. After long periods of debate and indecision we decided on the Carverstone technology. Other options would be pavers or brick. However, they would have to tear up the existing concrete and then repour concrete as a base. We thought it was wasteful and we were concerned any errors in tearing up the concrete near the house could damage the foundation. Sales consultant, Michael Martin, came out and did an estimate in late February. He was very nice and professional, and showed a variety of designs and colors schemes. We were going to have them add a 11'x16' pergola as well, but were shocked at the $10,000 estimate. We were expecting at most $3,000, so we skipped that. This is obviously not their specialty, but it would have been beneficial to be able to cement the new pergola in the new concrete. Guys came out the fill in the patch of dirt with concrete in mid April. This took a day. Then a few weeks later the Caverstone guys came out. Applying this technology takes training so the number of qualified workers are limited. What I liked the most is how much pride they took in their work. As they discussed detailed color and design options with you, I could easily tell that they were interested in doing a good job for you, rather than rush to finish and move on.

From the estimate, design, demolition and installation, the process was professional. John was our estimator and was able to give us direction, suggestions and guidance to help us finalize our decision. He found an opening in the schedule that allowed us to start in the same week of signing the contract. Al was our crew chief and we were amazed at the skill and professionalism in how he and his crew performed. They were extremely careful to minimize any damaged to established plants and grass. They laid a board path over grass to protect it from damage in moving materials and demolition debris. We are very happy with the workmanship and design. Al worked very closely with us during the demolition and construction ensuring that we were happy with each step of the process, the progress, the design and quality of workmanship. His crew was very respectful, professional during the whole process. They kept the work and staging areas very clean during the process. The job took two days and final cleanup was terrific. John inspected the final results to ensure that we were happy with the results. The new patio has extended our living area and we find ourselves living and working outside more than ever. The patio is the first step of the design of the backyard oasis. Thank you Allied for such a great start.

First I should note this service was performed in the Lakeway TX area, not Houston where their main office is. The estimator arrived on time and gave a reasonable price. The workers showed up on time and did the work. However there were sections of the stain / sealer which did not look right to me. It has taken over 3 weeks to get them to come back out and try to fix it which it finally looks like they have. Regarding the question about whether I would use them again or not, I wish there was a "maybe" option. I would definitely get some other bids, but at the end of the day if you feel like they give you the best value then you should consider them.

The most trying area was the negotiation of price. It made you fell like buying a car. The back and forth between the salesperson and his calls back to office. Bottom line what we paid was way over the original quoted price. After that was done, the end product was well done and a great job. Very good workmen.

We had a positive experience with Allied Outdoor Solution. They showed up on time to go over our job and give us an estimate. They were helpful at the showroom when we were getting ideas for what style to use. They worked with us on the color to get what we wanted. The workers were efficient and got the job finished earlier than quoted. They did a great job on the overlay and it looks great. We had a crack appear on the patio and some coating came off the side of the garage a few months later; they came back and fixed it without a problem. We would use them again and wish we had used them for our whole backyard/outdoor kitchen makeover.
