ALLIED INTERNATIONAL HOUSTON

Description of Work: We contracted with Allied International to move the contents of a three bedroom townhome near downtown Houston to Conroe, Texas. We selected them on the basis of price and the representation of their sales contact. We were supposed to have a four man crew and two trucks, so that major furniture could be moved separately from boxed items. We did much of the packing ourselves using boxes Allied provided, and an Allied crew of 3 took one day to pack the remaining items. | |On moving day, only one truck showed up with four people. Only one of he workers appeared to have experience with moving, and he often disagreed with the foreman over loading the truck and on other issues. | |All of the furniture and boxes were crammed into the single truck, and some items that we had planned to move, like potted plants, were left behind. In the process of moving some of the furniture, a desk slipped an punched a hole in the sheet rock of the townhome. We had gouges on several furniture items, and some items packed by the movers like the glass in framed photographs and vases were broken. | |All of the items were delivered to the new home the next day. Offloading went fairly well. It took us a couple of weeks to clear all of the boxes from our garage, and although we called Allied to pick up the boxes, they never did. We disposed of them as heavy trash and at the local recycling center. This was typical of the lack of after market service by Allied. | |We made an insurance claim for some of the items, but most of the damage was covered by the deductible, which we had to pay.

Description of Work: They moved our belongings of our four bedroom home from North Carolina to Houston.

Description of Work: Allied Van Lines helped in my move. They moved almost all my possessions except for the incidental keep sakes that I brought myself.
