Description of Work: The Technician (Steve) was very PROFESSIONAL, KNOWLEDGEABLE, FRIENDLY. After troubleshooting he gave a detailed description of what was wrong, what caused it, and how he was going to fix it. Great Job!! Great Experience!! We will most definitely use Air Tech of Houston for our AC/Heating in the future.

Description of Work: Our downstairs ac unit started making funny noises and smeilling like burnt electrical on new years eve. We called two different companies for estimates. Although both air tech and the other company were similar in the price they quoted, air tech did not try to do a hard sale on a 16 or 20 seer unit. We also appreciated their patience in answering questions and flexibility on installation times. The crew was very prompt and very quick. Would highly recommend.

Description of Work: A crew showed up to replace my coils, put in a new air exchanger, install new thermostats, etc. Required 3 to 4 people and was done professionally. They laid cloth tarps down to protect the carpet and cleaned-up afterward. Mark and the other guys explained what they did and the unit now dehumidifies much better and am happy with the investment, A good A/C is one of the requirements to live in Houston. Recommend them.

Description of Work: The service man came to my house and checked the outside and inside units of my cooling system. He found a capacitor that was bad and replaced it on the outside unit. He also put refrigerant in the system as it was a little low. Inside the house he found the thermostat for the downstairs system was not functioning properly and he replaced it. He also replaced a circuit breaker that had gone bad. He checked the date on it and found that it was under warranty, and he replaced it for no cost. He also checked the other components of the system in the attic to be sure they were all OK . After the repairs, the system began to work like it should and there have been no further problems. The reasons for replacing the parts were all explained to me and there were no hidden costs or attempts to get more than I needed. The technician's name was Daniel Proffitt, and he was very professional and didn't hesitate all of my questions. All around, it was a very good job, and I am very satisfied.

Description of Work: Bought the $64 tune-up and inspection package on Angie's list. Steve showed up and listened to my a/c problems. Have had 2 different co's out over the last 18 months and he did something the others failed to do. He had me come to the attic and look at the coils on one of my 2 units. They were corroded and we discussed how even though it was a 4 ton coil, the newer 4 ton coil units are larger and do a better job of de-humidifiying. We discussed operation of the thermostats and how dampners to regulate the flow might be helpful. Have not decided to spend the money now to upgrade, but at least understand the system better and appreciate his information. He fixed the refrigerant leak and charged it back up. Good experience.

Description of Work: I wish that the repairs that Air Tech did were actually standing the test of time, but they have not. I have had to call for various issues about every six months since 2011. For a while they were coming out and fixing the problem at no additional cost. The major problem was they were not fixing the problem. Finally it became clear that one of the workers damaged a part on the equipment - he actually admitted it to my husband. Then we were given an estimate that would fix essentially what they broke for $400. Does that seem fair? I called Air Tech and was met with hostility and resistance. I then spent an extra $100 to have a different AC repairman come out to look at their work. He was blown away at how poorly the equipment was installed. When I told him how much was spent he nearly fainted that the install was so poor. I explained the story below about the homeowner trying to install it and messing everything up and he said that for $5K the system should be perfect - it was far from it. So the lesson I learned is always get a follow-up from a different contractor that you trust before you sign off on work. I really feel like I have been scammed. I was in the midst of a messy real estate transaction in which the seller of the home I was set to purchase attempted to cover up a botched HVAC installation. Luckily I had a good inspector who was willing to follow up on the supposed repairs that the seller was completing and right before closing it was apparent that the seller had installed an HVAC system to poorly that it was actually dangerous. My inspector referred me to Billy from Air Tech and he came out immediately and determined that the whole system needed to be ripped out and reinstalled (and a city permit needed to be pulled). It became apparent that the seller did not have the HVAC system professionally installed. We were able to escrow out the cost of the repair from the seller's proceeds and had Air Tech come out and fix it. I am now sitting inside a house that is cooler and more comfortable than any air conditioned house I have ever experienced. I am a happy camper!

Description of Work: We had shopped several HVAC companies and their products for about a week upon coming to grips that our 16 year-old unit was in hospice (for lack of a better expression). First American Homebuyer's Protection, a home warranty company, couldn't provide us with competent enough techs to prolong the life of the unit beyond a couple of weeks and are still not cooperating with us to replace the unit as per their contract. Dealing with a company like Air-Tech, who showed us a little respect and integrity, as did Air-Con, was a "breath of fresh air." My wife claims she left messages w/ other HVAC companies who topped Angie's List; however, they never returned her call. It came down to a tough choice between Air-Tech and Air-Con. Air-Tech appeared to offer us the best unit for our money, and we went with it. It still works (knock on wood). The only thing that bothered us was that they offered senior citizen and cash/check discounts on-line, but resisted honoring them on our purchase, maintaining that they were giving us the best deal possible, already. It WAS condiderably less than what Air-Con proposed, though Air-Con IS a good company that I also recommend.
