Initially, I was pleased with the service. The technician was pleasant, seemed knowledgeable, etc. I asked lots of questions, confirmed the answers I was given, etc. The initial maintenance on the 3 units was around $1500 on top of the Big Deal price that I'd paid. The issue came into play when I was told that we needed to replace the coil in one of the units and I was given a verbal quote. The verbal quote wasn't given to me in writing - which I should have required but didn't, and when I phoned my husband to relay the price, he was surprised at how high it was and I asked him to speak with the technician directly. When my husband pushed on how the pricing was done - by the hour or by the job, the technician told him that he was trying to tell him how much money he could make, which didn't sit well with my husband. Ultimately, we decided to go forward with the service because we didn't want to have to deal with another company at this point. I called them and told them to proceed the next day as we had initially discussed. When the service was complete and it was time to write the check, the price he wrote up was higher than what he had verbally given me. He argued that he had told my husband this price on the phone the day prior and that he "assumed" that my husband had told me. I could not reach my husband to verify this at the time, so I told him to just give me the bill so I could be finished with them. This entire situation did not sit well with me. He wanted to know what he could do to 'make me feel better" and offered to install a drip pan switch for overflows, which he did. Situations get tense when you are spending thousands of dollars and when things come into question, like changing a price that was already quoted once the work is complete, it leaves you wondering if you weren't just lied to about everything. The end result of the experience is that I wouldn't use them again. Anytime I feel that uncomfortable about a service situation, both during, and when it's finished, it's best that I look somewhere else in the future.
Description of Work: The big deal I used was for preventive maintenance on my AC units. I bought 3 big deals since we have 3 units. One of the units wasn't cooling the way it should, so we anticipated there would be a problem that would need to be addressed. Upon inspection, there was a lot of work recommended that my husband and I decided to go ahead with to protect the investment in the units.

Very prompt response to my purchase of Angie's List service; scheduled service to be done within the week. Technician was here when he said he'd be; he was extremely polite and thorough noting everything he had cleaned and checked, as well, his findings. He made a recommendation to change out the compressor contacts. Even though I agreed he didn't rush to change, rather he took the time to show me what mine looked like (unit is nearly 10 years old) vs. a new one and explained to me/showed me why he recommended changing. As opposed to my scheduling another appointment for him to come back out., he willing changed it out while here, despite having to do so in the rain, I will be using Air Rescue for all future A/C and heating needs.

Worked for 2 weeks. We went on vacation for 10 days came back and the same unit didn't work...I don't what know happening. The results wasn't what I was looking for. HVAC works before they came out. Now it doesn't work and they replaced a part for a lot more money then the deal I got from Agies List?
Description of Work: AC check said everything worked fine...then said because I have 2 HVAC units he needed to charge me to check the second unit $49. Then he said that the a capacitor needed to be replaced $295.

Returned on Monday and replaced OEM blower motor $690.00 and added 5 lbs of r-22 refrigerant $200.00. Not sure why low Freon was not found during routine service by Air Team but possible it occurred during time since last visit. Credit allowed for original service charge of $49.95. Total charge $840. Would have been cheaper but generic motor for this unit not available. After Freon addition, my office became cold at normal setting and had to close the vents to almost shut. Update: About a week later blower became very loud and called Alfred to return and check out. Reduced the blower motor speed and the noise went away. There was no extra charge for his visit. I might add he is located about an hours drive from our area. Needless to say we are very pleased with the results.
Description of Work: Alfred answered the call on a Saturday and came out the same day. Current service provider (Air Team) voice mail was full. Identified the problem as the blower motor. Original unit is 10 years old. Could not find replacement which had to be OEM, until Monday but was creative in bypassing the circuit board to prevent burnout until OEM blower could be acquired. We were able to continue cooling the house after ice melted on inside and outside unit. In addition, he suggested replacing the "builder grade" air registers (plastic) with metal ones. Purchased a Truaire 10"X8" aluminum register #502691 HA301M which can be adjusted without a ladder.

They had to come back numerous times before we got the problem resolved and it appears that it is working satisfactory now. They scheduled me the following week after I purchased the big deal. The thing that I have to complement them on was not the quality of the installation the first time around but the fact that they stayed with it and got it corrected because we had so much problems with the initial installation. I probably would use them again in the future.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I had problems getting him to respond to me and had to write to Angie's List twice to get them to call him to call me. I don't know whatever happened but then he called me right away. He came out that same day and he actually did the service. He was very professional, very nice, very thorough, and explained a lot of the different things to me so I was really pleased to get the service once I got it. There were no extra charges. Everything was working fine but the compressor was pulling more energy than it was rated for and 2:31-2:32 I shouldn't be surprised if some time I have to replace that noting the age. He didn't try to sell me and he didn't try to pressure me into anything. Once he got here, I was really happy with him. He was here once he said he would be here. He's very polite and very respectful. One of the reasons why I went and took the service is it's a fairly new house, it's only been near a year and I didn't have anybody and if something did go wrong, I wouldn't know who to call so it's a good way to try out somebody.
Description of Work: Air Rescue USA Air Conditioning went and checked and serviced the air conditioner, heater and whole system up in my attic. He had a whole list of things he went over with me. Then he went outside and he took the hose and cleaned out the compressor and talked to me about that and told me again how it was rating and how the machines were.

The service was okay. They were great once they got out, but it literally took like three-and-a-half weeks for them to get in touch with me. I had to e-mail Angie’s List and they contacted them twice. I think there was confusion with the distance because my account says that either I am sometimes in Louisiana or Houston. I have a place in Louisiana and in Houston, and so I think he did not call because I think he thought it was a fake purchase. For the seventy-five pounds, it was an additional charge of $150 to the $48 big deal. If it was just them visiting, I would give them an A+, but if with everything, the communication and stuff, I would give them a B+ or B-.
Description of Work: Air Rescue USA Air Conditioning ended up checking everything. He did everything that was said. He put a 1:25-1:26. He cleaned the coils and the rotor. He did everything he needed to do. He put a pound of Freon, but I needed an extra two pounds. So, he added two more.

I purchased the Angie's list special/promo for a $48 A/C checkup on July 20th, and Angie's List relayed the message to Air Rescue on 7/23. I was not contacted by Air Rescue AC within the guranteed 48 hour window, in fact, even after Angie's List followed up to see if I had been contacted (7/26) I still did not receive contact of any kind from Air Rescue until (8/8) two business weeks after the guranteed "Rapid Connect" window was over. That should have been my first clue though I was giving them the benefit of the doubt that they were likely busy. The contact consisted of a 15 word sentence asking me to contact them to schedule service "at my earliest convenience" (of course!). The rest can be read in the other section. I realize that not everyone is on Angie's List and so there is an ability to exist and profit despite negative reviews on here, but if a company cares about their name, they should not put themselves in a position to get all these negative reviews. If you cannot service everyone that you offer the deal too, clearly mark on the deal where it can be used so someone like me knows to not purchase it in the first place, and for those that do overlook it, you can point them back to it so they see the mistake was theirs. That alone would have prevented me from posting this review, but not taking any responsbility for significantly late communication, then denying the service, and then - though accurate - telling me to take it up with Angie's List without once offering anything resembling a "sorry" or an expression of sympathy for wasting my time... that tells me about the character of a company.
Description of Work: The provider did not contact me within the Rapid Connect window, did not include an apology (or even an excuse) of any kind when contacting me (via Angie's List message) two weeks AFTER they were supposed to, and then when I called them back, they bluntly told me that we were out of their service area and that Angie's List has been doing that (selling deals outside of their service area). Their company entry on A.L. represents their service area as follows: "Air Rescue Usa Services Houston, Tx and Its Surrounding Areas." When asked about a refund, the guy on the other end said I would have to take it up with Angie's List. If you are going to misrepresent your service area, or limit the special to a specficic service area, this company should specify the geographical areas that will be eligible and that ones that will not be eligible. I understand the need to make money, and I recognize that they are not going to make much or any money driving over to I-45 and Beltway 8 south if they have to make a special trip. But it seems that this company is overselling the "deal", denying purchases who are further away than they want to travel by claiming that they are not in their service area (or misrepresenting their service area to begin with), and putting themselves in a morally comprimising situation where they will not make money unless they find issues that need to be upcharged. Honestly, after now reading some of the other reviews, I am glad that I am not wasting my time on this "deal". This review is not hostile, it is exactly what I would tell my neighbors and family if the topic comes up. Buyer beware.

It started out at sugarland home after initial assessment for complete change of condenser unit because it was beyond reasonable repair. When technician Richard talked on phone, he was rude, offensive and seemed to take great offense when asked why it should take so much money to fix a small capacitor worth 20-30$. It went down hill from there with technician pointing out at least 6 things wrong with recommendation to change condenser unit for $2800. I consented only to few things that took 1 hour and cost $600. The technician was scheduled for both our homes for AC tune up and so proceeded to our other property 25 miles away. When he reached there, technician scared our tenants of serious issues with AC unit and recommended changing starter kit, fixing hose leak in attic with duct tape, and several pounds of refrigerant along with chemical clean. I had no choice but to consent because inspite of giving explicit instructions not to discuss issues with tenant, he not only mentioned, showed them fictitious issues and scared them. Charged us ~$1000 for repairs and left. Next day we realized something seriously wrong at both houses which were supposed to get only AC tune ups with no issues before then. Rental house AC unit stopped working completely. Had to call our trusted AC contractor to come and redo all the work. Angel AC charged $800, changed starter kit, burned out capacitor, filled 5 pounds of refrigerant and fixed an electrical issue that Air rescue did not find. ( maybe even caused it ) 2 days later sugarland home had issues with compressor over heating, motor spinning backwards and AC not being effective. Again our trusted contractor came along fixed everything the first time charged a whole lot lesser and convinced us not to change the unit and there was nothing wrong except that they were old units. This was absolutely the worst AC service, worst AC technician- no professionalism whatsoever, incorrect diagnosis, overcharging ( just short of suggesting dishonest intentions because I am not an AC professional myself). It cost us $400/ hr of his service with every single thing fixed by another AC company again within the week. Will never ever recommend Richard or air rescue USA to anyone. Please save your money and go with another company. Cannot believe we found this person was listed on Angie's list.
Description of Work: Provider serviced sugar land home : approx $600 and rental home ( blossom st): approx $ 1000. Both started out as merely AC tune up and quickly piled up to chemical cleaning of coils, starter kit, AC drain blow down, several pounds of refrigerant etc etc. total time between 2 homes ( including drive time ) - distance between homes ~ 25 miles was under 4 hours- charged $1600 without major equipment installation.

He never even looked at the A/C breaker box, did not check the ductwork in the attic (except for the immediate ductwork coming out of the unit), did not clean the evaporator coils in the attic, said that there was no need to clean the outside unit as it was too old, and all of these things were supposed to be included in the checkup. He also said that he checked the freon but he was only outside for about one minute before I joined him and he said he was finished. When I asked him about the things not done he said that for this price he couldn't spend all day there and he had other places to go where they would not complain so much.

Alfred Joseph, cleaned my condenser, coil, treated drain pan with tabs, checked filters, amp volts, capacitor high voltage control, Delta-T and motors. There was an initial problem that my freon pressure was too high and instead of relieving some of the freon pressure he cooled down the compressor and that took the freon levels to normal levels. He interacted and was informative with me. I did not need freon servicing for my 2 yo unit. I would recommend him to everyone here on Angies List. Steven Dostalik

The visit and service went really well. Richard Huerto came to our house to inspect our home central A/C system because we had purchased an Angie's Big Deal. I was able to call and schedule a visit within 2 days of the visit which was great. As well as, when I scheduled the visit he gave me a 2 hour wait window, which is so much nicer than most of the other A/C repair companies, they are normally 4-5 hour wait windows. I really appreciated the sense of that my time was valuable as well as his. On the day of the scheduled visit Richard called to let me know when he was on his way to the house, which was very nice. He did call earlier to say he was running a little late, but it was still within the scheduled window which was fine. When Richard arrived he immediately went to work. He inspected the system in the attic, which we have a whole house filter installed. He said with that filter in place that the system was really clean, the attic part. When he inspected the outside coils and Freon everything was a-okay. He did suggest that we deep clean the outside condenser coils because they had a film on them that would not come off with water. I knew this was true because I regularly clean the coils with my hose and I keep the fan motor clean and lubricated as well. We decided to go ahead and have him clean them, as I like to perform preventative maintenance on the system, so that we can get the longest life out of our investment. Richard performed the inspection and cleaning quickly and efficiently. We did need to replace the whole house filter, but I do this myself, so I have since ordered the filter and replaced it. I would highly recommend Air Rescue to anyone who would like fast and efficient A/C service and maintenance. The prices could be a little better, but they are better than prices that I have seen and paid in the past. I understand they are in the business to make money, but you don't feel like they are taking you to the cleaners - it is a balanced price in my opinion. Richard was not pushy in any way to sell the cleaning but was honest and very nice.
Description of Work: Air Rescue came in to perform a yearly check-up on my house AC system. After inspecting the entire system, the representative suggested that I have the outside condenser coil cleaned of the mildew film buildup. A regular washing was not going to take off the build-up so I opted to have the condenser coil cleaned.

First off, they never contacted me like they were supposed to. Even after Angie's list followed up. I finally contacted them (mentioned my big deal coupon) and set it up for today and scheduled to be late for work. Normally when you schedule an AC guy for the earliest time in the morning on a flexible day, you can get an early appt. However, I was told they would not arrive before 9 or 10 (I was flexible on day). Still thought I could get to work before lunch.... As soon as the tech arrived (10 am), he said my unit was filthy and needed to be cleaned. (I knew that... that is why I bought the deal for a cleaning.) I told him I purchased that. He said "No, that is not included in an "Angie's check."...(even though the deal clearly states that). He said for a cleaning, they spray the unit down with a chemical and hose it down. Since I was already off, I asked how much and could he do it right now? He said yes, and $200. I agreed to it, because I had already scheduled to be late to work and did not want to do this again. He then proceeded to leave for about 45 minutes (never mentioned that)...to get the cleaner, I guess. He said my unit was already starting to freeze up before he left...must be low on freon (I have had a lot of AC issues over the past 3 years and have spent a fortune replacing and repairing stuff on a home that is only 5 years old now and had mentioned some of this.) He left my new "snake" hose on with his nozzel on it while he left. When he came back, and started to hose down my unit, my hose "popped" like a balloon. Had to throw it away and connect my old hose for him to complete the job. He did, but then said my pressures were fine...it didn't need coolant after all. ..was just dirty. Then he proceeded to criticize my normal AC service company. Before leaving, he wanted to sign me up for their bi-annual fall and spring checks. I said, "can't I skip the fall since you were just here (Aug) and have you start in the spring? He said, no, because he didn't check my heater. I then got 2 separate emails from 2 separate neighbors about the "very rude guy in the unmarked truck" in front of my house. They were about to call the cops. I live in a town home and he blocked the drive way. My neighbor asked him to move, and he refused. The second had told him not to park there...he was just rude in response and never identified himself. I have very friendly neighbors and we are all friends here. Interesting I got 2 separate complaints! Basically I paid $248 for him to spray on a cleaner and hose down my unit, be rude to my neighbors, criticize my normal guy, and make me miss a full half day of work! Very dis-satisfied. I checked the reviews before I bought the deal on 7/17...most were positive...I never would have bought the deal had I seen the reviews now.
Description of Work: I bought the $48 "Big deal" for an "A/C tune-up, cleaning, inspection, and up to 1 lb of coolant" on 7/17.

The vendor did not come at the scheduled time. Had to call 90 minutes later when the response came: yes he will be coming. He ispecte3d and found that the system worked well. He recommended additional services. They are not "needed but may come in useful". The cost for those services were huge. I would not like to be taken in by a vendor who just wants his foot in through Angie's list so that work can be created.
