This was one of the worst experiences I have ever received from a service provider. The initial service call began on April 7 when they diagnosed that the main central module was bad. They removed it to take it back to their shop for repair. At that point, I paid the deposit and trip charge. When they finally brought it back, the tv had a bright clear HD picture and a new invoice showing that a color wheel was installed. This was not mentioned on the initial diagnosis. I was very happy with the new bright picture for about an hour after they had left. I then noticed a constant humming noise. When I called them to ask about the humming noise. I was told that it's normal when a new color wheel is installed. They told me to give it a week or two and the humming noise should stop. Well, it didn't stop after 10 days. They came back, took out the inner parts of the tv again and was gone for another 8 days. When they came back to install the inner parts of the tv again, I noticed that the HD appearance was no longer present, but the humming was gone. Naturally, I wondered and asked if the color wheel was still there, and they said "yes". Now, after almost 30 days, and after reviewing how they manipulated the numbers on the costs of the diagnosis, parts, and labor, I see that the truth was misrepresented on numerous occasions during this 30 day period.
Description of Work: I needed a diagnosis of my big screen tv, which had stopped coming on consistently. The red standby light flashed for about a month when I would first turn it on. Eventually, the tv never came on again and the red standby light kept flashing.

Response from Adam Big Screen Repair
Attached is a copy of the repair invoice that we services (member name removed) TV on April 07, 2017. As indicated on the invoice, we did replace the color wheel which function is to mix the color of the input signal from cable/satellite/Ant.... Few weeks after we replaced the color wheel, (member name removed) called and complained about the noise coming out of the TV. We sent out our tech to check it and found out that one of the cooling fans was making noise due to the dusty buildup. We took the system back to the shop, rebuild the fans, and returned with no additional charge. The fans have nothing to do with the high definition quality display on the screen. HDTV picture quality depends on the source and the signal processing of the main module. To protect her TV and investment on the TV, we have suggested her to have extra cooling fan outside the TV to help to circulate the air to make TV last longer. This is just an option and she does not have to do it. About the promises to fulfill for discount, we did give her the following discounts as she asked for: $7.50 (5% of labor for Angie's customer) + $25.00 (trade for her broken TV) + $165.00 (deposit & house call) = $197.50. Total repair bill including tax is $357.17. With the discount ($197.75), she only paid us $159.65 based on our record. However, as a good will gesture, we will give her a cooling fan at our cost to satisfy her request. If she agrees with this proposal, she can pick the fan up at our shop. Thank you Angie's List for your help.

This shop was listed on Angie's List under its old name and address of Atom Electronics in Pasadena, Tx. The phone number was still correct. They came when they said they would the first time. The two men who came out were very nice. They said they thought it would be back in a day or two. That did not happen. My only complaint is that the repair people in the shop never called to say when it would be back; I had to keep calling them. I wish they had called me when they found they needed to order some parts. I was glad to find someone who still worked on "old" tv sets. They took it to the shop on the 13th and brought it back on the 18th. I think that was a reasonable amount of time considering that parts had to be ordered.
Description of Work: Took my tv to their shop. It is an older tv, but I wanted to keep it. The color was messed up; everything had a yellow cast. After they fixed it, they brought it back and re-installed it and helped me connect it to cable and made sure all was working ok.
