ACE SAFE & LOCK CO INC

I called Ace Safe and Lock from Angie's List and also based on a friends recommendation. I needed them to replace several door locks and re-key 2 locks. They originally said they could fit me in on the following Saturday afternoon. Saturday came and went and no one called or showed up. Someone from Ace called on Monday night to apologize for not being there Monday, so apparently their scheduling was screwed up. They asked a lot of questions about the type of locks I had and the work that needed to be done and said they could be there the next Saturday afternoon. They weren't sure what time they could be there and said they would call with a time later in the week. The next Saturday came and no phone call and no locksmith. I called to try and get information and just got an answering machine. Left a message and didn't receive any response as of Monday morning.

I went in, bringing the file cabinet with me. I was given an estimate of $20 dollars and decided that was cheaper than replacing the cabinet. The technician/owner, spent quite a bit of time to get the lock to move as it apparently had not been used in years. After the cabinet was opened and I received a key, I was told the work would only be $12. Was I ever suprised?

OVERALL, WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE. MR. ESPINOZA ARRIVED QUICKLY AND WAS REASONABLY NICE, WHILE AT OUR HOUSE. THE PRICE CHARGED ALSO SEEMED REASONABLE. HOWEVER, AFTER HE LEFT WE NOTICED TWO PROBLEMS THAT HE DIDN'T DISCUSS WITH US. THE FIRST PROBLEM WE NOTICED WAS THAT AN UPSTAIRS BEDROOM DOOR HAS SERIOUS WATER DAMAGE AT THE BASE. WHEN HE OPENED IT, THE BASE OF THE DOOR STARTED TO CRUMBLE AND DELAMINATE. (WE JUST MOVED INTO THE HOUSE AND HADN'T OPENED UP THAT DOOR YET. IT DIDN'T APPEAR DAMAGED BEFORE IT WAS OPENED.) HE DID NOT CAUSE THIS DAMAGE, BUT HE SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT IT TO OUR ATTENTION BEFORE HE CHANGED THE LOCK, AND CERTAINLY, BEFORE HE LEFT THE HOUSE. THE SECOND, AND MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM, WAS THAT AFTER HE CHANGED THE LOCK ON OUR FRONT DOOR, THE LATCH NO LONGER CONNECTED! (RENDERING THE LOCK USELESS, AS YOU CAN IMAGINE). WE HAD TO HIRE ANOTHER LOCKSMITH TO FIX IT.
