Abacus Plumbing Air Conditioning & Electrical

The whole HVAC replacement started on May 28, 2021 and still is pending completion to my satisfaction as of today 09/08/2021 based on their guarantees on their commercial and their claims of honesty and integrity. This has been a nightmare that includes the culmination of my ceiling falling through and various cracks still there and days where I couldn't sleep in my bed because the air from 2.5 ton AC didn't reach. I have a small 995 sq ft home. I feel strongly that I was treated with sub standard care as a single black latino female living in a low income neighborhood. And I'm 99.5% sure I was overcharged because Alan Mazboudi who came and did the original assessment was a con artist. And even after all of horror they caused and after telling them several times about the crack in my ceiling needing to be taken care of and eventually having it fall through and cause an avalanche of insulation land on just about every surface, one of the managers who had up until this point been fairly decent Matthew Lopez had the gall to ask if I could come up with part of the payment for the drywaller. I couldn't believe that he thought I was that stupid. Isn't this why they're insured? I had to cleanup the mess because I suffer with asthma and have a little dog and neither of us could be exposed to the horrible affects of the fiber glass insulation. I had to buy special materials from Home Depot specifically to handle and touch and dispose of the insulation and dirt and had to put up the tarp myself as this all happened on a Sunday when they aren't actually opened 24/7 and I didn't want a gaping hole with insulation floating about in my living room. They did send the drywaller and a cleaning crew to clean behind what I'd done and they did an ok job but there were a lot of things that needed to be steamed cleaned and they weren't equipped to do that. Again this all started at the end of May and is still going on now into September because some managers won't return my calls. And I have to call several times and talk to the Excellent customer service employees with the exception of a customer service person named Darla who laughed at me when I called to speak with someone regarding cleaning up the house and steam cleaning my couch the first time. Other than that the customer service side is top notch they listen and try to help but the HVAC team is so awful they make it difficult for them to do a good job. Needless to say if I were a litigious person I would have taken action by now and really have every right to do so. I do not recommend the HVAC side of Abacus at all run away if you are poor or without unlimited funds to pay the extra energy bill it's cost me to cool my home because the install was so screwed up the thermostat didn't work properly and has to run at low temperature 24/7 and I was blamed for this too. They did the assessment on my home and knew it wasn't fully insulated and that my windows weren't fancy yet since I've only lived here a few years and I'm house poor. And when I told them that the old 16yo AC cooled just fine until it died. They constantly found other reasons to blame me or my home even though they assessed it, had there been an issue they shouldn't have gone through with the installation.

The water heater was replaced by courteous, experienced, professionals. The city inspector passed the project saying Abacus does good work.

Abacus was the only one that would show up after hours on a weekend. I was very thankful for them coming so quickly on a Sunday after midnight. The house was almost 80 degrees with my senior Mother living here with me and they had the AC repaired quickly. I switched my service over to them since they take the calls that are inconvenient when the AC goes out after hours/on the weekend. Sold!

Had one tech give bid and promised be done next day if paid in full which I did. No show called and said he was on vacation. New tech came and gave another bid much higher and I told them to get lost. Got repair work done for way lower than the original bid and no demo needed as they were going to do.

Only problem was cut cables while excavation !

No issues. Just expensive, as to be expected for this type of job. On the plus side the new AC works perfectly and the electric bills are about $60 lower. We're also happy that the water softener unit is back working perfectly as well after having the motherboard replaced.

The repair was done before the circuit was properly tested. The actual fault was a bad ground in the electrical panel. Abacus sold a replacement of the outlets, switches, and fixtures to replace poor quality items installed during a renovation. The items were replaced and the circuit failed completely within 30 minutes of the work being completed. The tech sent to check out the failure found the fault as soon as he opened the panel. I felt that we were duped and will not hire Abacus again for electrical work.

Great! Both AC units we’re out and it was hot! They came out the same day and stayed past midnight to make sure we had a running unit and finished the next morning. Top notch service techs.

Whew, we have a RELATIONSHIP with Abacus at this point. We've been using them since 2016 and with the exception of the most recent job, we've had major issues with every job we've hired them for. BUT, they are amazing at coming back, at no charge, to correct everything and make sure we're 100% satisfied with the work. I fully trust that if I have a problem with any work they've performed, I can call & they will come & make it right. That's not trust you can have with just anyone. Our first major project was when we noticed a massive leak in our front yard in May 2016. We discovered the previous installation of a water softener system was done incorrectly, so we had them install a new one, fix the issues, and replace our water heaters with one tankless water heater. It was a huge, very costly project. They did it quickly, but there was some internal communication issues and a final inspection and review was never completed. After a few months went by, we contacted and the supervisor inspected and they even came out when the city shut off our gas, as we could smell gas in our backyard & we discovered the leak was our neighbor's. But, they didn't charge to come out, since they'd dropped the ball on their work that could have impacted gas lines. Our second major project was to replace our electrical box after it was fried and replace our HVAC system. The electrician messed up big time, I had to HOUND their supervisors and spend way too much time losing my mind at some people, but since then, they've given me top notch customer service & completely rectified the situation. They did end up compensating us for their errors and turned around a terrible mess of a job. Our latest major project was a whole house re-piping after the winter storm. They responded SO quickly to us, the guys were AMAZING, and honestly, this job only had a few minor, minor hiccups and that they were there for us in such a crazy, stressful time, means the world to us. They did great work, were very timely, and very respectful of our house and time. Overall, Abacus is very expensive. You need to stay on top of communication with them, because their internal communication isn't the strongest. But at the end of the day, we will continue to go back to them because they do always make sure we're taken care of and will do whatever they need to to make things right.

Since then I have had insulation put in and a complete air conditioning and heating system installed. The workers have always been professional and friendly. They always left everything clean. I have a set twice a year inspection to ensure that things continue to work well

I requested a quote to have the ducts cleaned. I received a quote to replace my HVAC system. I later found another company to clean the ducts.
