Abacus Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Electrical

My main likes were they responded quickly and did a good job. My dislike was they were very expensive. They made it up the same day. They showed up on time.

Kitchen sink/disposal and clothes washer were both backing up and clog was not somewhere I could deal with without calling a plumber. Contacted mid-morning and they were able to get to me on the same day. Chris arrived on-time and was great -- very courteous, friendly and careful about not tracking in the house, etc. He was completely will to answer questions, explain what he was doing and why, etc. I would absolutely ... and almost certainly will ... use Abacus again! Absolutely no problems/criticisms!

Kenny was conscientious, professional, and effective. He took care to protect our floors. They were very accommodating on scheduling and came the same day.

Also same time I have called Abacus for plumbing as we have Unclog 2 drains and the plumber told us that we have to change two 3/4" pipe all the way and given the estimate of $1,194 and cannot able to just perform the to unclog 2 drains as there BOSS won't allow them to do that. After this I called Polar Express located in Katy, TX, not fancy as "Abacus", the Plumber showed up as promised first of all without rescheduling for 2-3 times and did Unclog the 2 drain fixed the problem in $75. I will never suggest to get any services from Abacus unless you are crazy rich and don't care if they charge you few thousand dollars. Note: Also with this... Seriously I am thinking about Angie's List as well about what is the criteria from them to give them "A" List status.

I never had a chance to meet with anyone since they have a pricing policy that I will not agree to.

The plumber arrived earlier than expected and I did not have to wait all day. Flushed my water heater and installed a new element. Since I provided my own element, he did not know what price to quote me, however he called his supervisor and got an answer immediately. After fixing it and leaving, I noticed that there was a burning smell from my water heater and the electricity in the rest of my home was not working. I called him directly and he said he would come at a stated time, which he did. Fixed the error and apologized for the inconvenience. Even stayed extra time to make sure there were no errors made this time. Although he had to come back and redo it, the mistake wasn't made from inexperience or lack of attention to detail. Just an honest human mistake. Furthermore, he was very prompt at returning and fixing the mistake. Did not hassle me for further payments and did not raise issues about fault. Would definitely use again in the future.

the a/c was not working, the tech resolved the issue, the thermostat was the problem. decided to replace 2 thermostats, the service was excellent by david

They are the very best plumbers around. I can trust them. They always send someone out that knows what they are doing. They are a little bit expensive, but since I had a big problem I wanted to make sure I got the best.

did a good job, find some issues that I not expected, but needed to be repaired, replaced energy shut off valve, installedfloodstop system, and replaced t&p valve,and replaced water heater vent thru the roof. also checked water hose to washer. did see-n-sewer inspection. made recommendations for toilet tank rebuild, jimmy the inspection was detailed and very helpful

Everything went well. I will need to have some A/C service done within about a year and my plumbing is good.

Very well. The crews did all of the work in one day and were very good at not hitting the walls, etc. we have two systems and both are in the attic. It had rained heavily the day before and their was nothing on our carpets at the end of the day. Be installed the highest efficiency units on the market and they work well and are very quiet, as promised.

Technician was very courteous and attentive to our needs.

They did a good job, but their price was outrageous. I would not use them again not just because of quality work but because of pricing.

Although the gurgling and popping noises are now greatly reduced, my water heater still gurgles and pops. Maybe I need new coils.

The appointment was easy to schedule and everyone we dealt with in the office was professional. We chose Abacus because we thought it was a deal to pay $89 for both tune-ups we needed during the year instead of $120 for two Home Warranty calls. We were wrong. We paid $89 to Abacus and THEN had to pay Home Warranty because of all of the things Abacus told us was wrong with our units. The service tech came and looked at both of our units. He then told my husband we had a leak, needed 1.5-2 lbs of refrigerant, probably needed a new unit, needed a new coil, needed two new filters, and on and on. The total would have been over $10k. (He also left our attic open, letting in a ton of hot air for several hours until we found it.) Having just moved into this house, we panicked. Our home warranty covers some AC stuff, so we decided to have them send out a company to take a look and verify all that Abacus had told us. The new company came and did the same inspection. They told us that we will need a new coil, but not any time soon. Our units are both working fine, there is no leak and if we added 1-2 lbs of refrigerant, we would be overfilling it. Abacus was a total rip-off. They won't be coming back to our house. Learn from my $89 mistake and DO NOT use them.

I didn't use them because they couldn't answer my questions around level of work effort required to assess - as in will they need to tear up my ceiling. No one was willing to call back to answer either. Very unprofessional in my view. Others like Big State and Wedgeworth had a plumber call me back and walk thru the steps....FYI - Abacus wants $49 for assessment. No biggy. However, it could be an indicator that their business is about efficiency for personal gain, without focus on customer service.

I called them for a estimate it was free according to the web site. Not free wanted to charge me 49.00 to come out then mention a service fee of 150.00.

Ziggy was so cool. He was on time-ish (there was a lane closure on freeway...). He understood exactly what was needed, and went right to work. I had told him that i planned to later go with remote control switches to connect the leftover switches to the remaining light - he had the idea to fish the switch control to the other fixture, and was able to leave both sets of controls in the same box instead of having to pull a bunch of cabling out. He went up into the attic and removed the old box (code requirement) and cut some cardboard to cover the hole. He chatted the whole time, totally friendly, and you can tell he really enjoyed his work. And he did a great job - looked like he could have done it with his eyes closed.

They were able to schedule us in within 2 business days. Overpriced in my opinion. $300 to install a faucet that I purchased seems high to me. There is apparent disorganization at the main office and / or lack of communication between plumbers and main office. We got a call that they would not be there in time. An hour later we were told that the plumber would arrive in less than 30 minutes?? Glad they were there in the expected time but definitely made it impossible to schedule anything significant for the entire day. Because of the nature of our old faucet, the plumber needed to use a saw to get it off. There was questionable damage to the sink and because we are new to the home we unsure if it was there prior to the service. Pretty sure it wasn't though. The plumber himself was professional and was thorough unfortunately after he left a small leak was apparent under the sink. Not a quality job! To spend $1000.00USD only to have the job not done correctly was very disappointing. We had to wait another 2 business days to get someone else in. We were given the window of 12-3 that the plumber would be coming. We received a call in the morning informing us that they were running as scheduled and we should be hear soon that the plumber would arrive. Then at 2:22PM we received a call that said the plumber would be there "shortly". No time frame was given. After an hour and 10 minutes went by I called them to check the status . They informed me that the plumber went to lunch and they would call back when they had a time frame for arrival. at 4:03PM i received a call informing us that the plumber would be there in 30-45 minutes. After ANOTHER hour and 20 minutes I called them only to have them say that it would be another 20 minutes the plumber finally showed up. ALL OF THIS AND IT WAS A 10 MINUTE REPAIR!!!!!!!! SUCH AN INCONVENIENCE! I will not be using ABACUS plumbing again! So much for the Angies list A rating!

The work went extremely well. Ed Kelley was the lead plumber. They had to work really hard to get the old water heater out of the attic because it was bigger than the opening of the stairwell. I was very impressed with Ed and his apprentice helper. They were very respectful and professional. You could tell that Ed really knows his stuff and has been a master plumber for a long time. He took his time, was patient and very thorough. You can certainly find cheaper plumbers out there, but they won't be as good as Ed. It was worth paying a little extra for the peace of mind. I would highly recommend them to my friends and family.
