I had called Abacus on a faucet that was still leaking slightly and had a loose handle. The person that handled my call was very professional and let me know up front that since this was a recall that the service call would be waived and there would be no charge. Greg was the technician who came to my house again today. He had fixed my kitchen faucet that was leaking very bad a few weeks ago and came back out a February 17 to repair the guest bathroom faucet that was still leaking slightly and had some slack in the handle. Greg was not the technician on the first service call in January. He was very professional and both times stayed until he was sure the job was done correctly. I keep using Abacus for this reason as they stand behind their work until the job is done correctly and the customer satisfied.

The service call was a great experience. We have a leak in the main water line and called Abacus to come to the house. They arrived on time, quickly and were able to diagnose the issue and provide 3 options for how we preferred to handle the repairs. They answered all of our questions and were very courteous and understanding. We selected an option and look forward to having the work done soon.

The technician, Jarrod, was great. He explained to me what was wrong with the old kitchen faucet and put in the new one that I purchased from Lowe's. The new one was professional installed. He doubled check everything and cleaned up all the boxes and junk. The good thing about Abacus is their prices for each professional job is fixed and each technician would pull up the menu to check the fixed prices for each job so the customers can be at ease of mind that they won't jack up the prices on the spot. I highly recommend this company -- honest and high quality service.

We first called Abacus to evaluate a GFI plug that was tripping several times a day. Bryan Haygood Sr. was very thorough. He spotted that the plug had been poorly installed, was breaking, we were missing one, and the current was fluctuating wildly. On inspection, our electrical panel showed severe heat damage and was not to code. Ramon Garcia showed up the next morning with a team and replaced the panel and most of our sockets and plugs, finishing up the next day. They left everything tidy. We have been chasing electrical issues in our 20-year-old house for four years. Abacus is the third electrical company we've had in and three days later, our home is safe again. Now that the current is stabilized, the A/C is no longer straining and cools the house down so quickly, our appliances are quieter, and our lights are much brighter. We saw some of the sockets Abacus pulled out: they were cracked, with loose wires. Thank you, Abacus. Bryan Sr. and Ramon explained what was required to avoid a house fire and what was merely recommended. We felt able to make an educated decision for our home. Some of the other team members crossed a couple of wires. I told the office when they called to see if we were satisfied. Ramon was back the next morning and fixed it within an hour.

Very good. He found that the installers, Royal Air, had left off the sediment trap in the gas line which is a code violation. I wish we had hired Abacus to install the new system to begin with.

I happen to know a person that works for them, but I didn't know that. When I got talking to him, he said the worse things about his job is that he has to sell every time he comes into a house or they won't keep him. So now I don't even know if I needed that new unit they put in. I have two units that are about the same age. When I had Hop HVAC come out they said this unit was fine and asked what happened to the other unit. I said I don't know. They just said I needed a new unit. He said, who was it? I told him and he said, oh I doubt that you needed a new one.

The plumber was there on time and identified that the gas valve was shot. He said that a replacement would probably be $400 - $500, that I would have to order it from the supplier so there would be shipping charges, and that they would come back and replace for probably another $400. He recommended just replacing the unit and we went ahead an tentatively scheduled something for the following morning. The quoted price was to over $2460 for replacement. Out of curiosity, I called the original water heater manufacturer. A replacement valve would be about $120 plus $30 to overnight it, not $400-$500. Its an old unit, so I called a couple of other shops. All of them, using the same equipment, quoted $800 - $1200 LESS than the Abacus price. These were all Angie's List A rated companies. I called Abacus to cancel the service. I get being a little high sometimes, but this one was just ridiculous, especially given the mischaracterization of cost on a replacement valve. Will not call them again.

Abacus charged $49.95 for the estimate. They estimated the repairs to cost $7,362. I asked for the license number of the man that inspected the house and would be doing the work, I discovered he was licensed as an Electrical Apprentice. After contacting TDLR I found out that only Master Electricians are legally qualified to estimate electrical work. Needless to say, I did not proceed with the repairs.

It took a week to get them to my house after the freeze - understandable considering that hard freezes are rare in Houston. When David came, he was prompt, professional in his appearance and demeanor. He diagnosed the problem, order the parts, and came back to fix the pipe asap. I continue to be impressed with the Abacus employees - great job overall!

Very well. They came out same day and saved us! We had water gushing from a burst pipe and had to shut off the water to our house to get it to stop. Abacus sent out a plumber the same day. He was able to cap off the pipe and set up a time to repair it in the near future as parts had to be ordered. He came back shortly and completed the repair quickly and completely. We are very happy with our service from Abacus!

Had kitchen and laundry drain stoppage. called abacus and very courteous and friendly lady took my info and scheduled appointment in no time at all, Tech came out and repaired the lines very quickly and had both lines clean in around 1 hour. I am writing this at 3:30am because we had a complete stoppage of all sewer in the house. I called a number of plumbers who list as 24x7 but all deferred the call to morning and this could not wait. Abacus was extremely responsive and courteous. It was late night and a busy holiday season but they had a unit dispatched in 45 minutes. Amazing! Chris T. Showed up and was incredibly courteous, sympathetic and polite. He advised me of the potential costs and options before starting the work. Once I chose my options he went right to work. He spotted the issue in no time and unclogged the main line. He also advised making sure that we check all the lines as he identified an ancillary obstruction in one of the pipes to the main. He was right! The shower drain was clogged from debris in the main line. He augers that line and voila- issues resolved. Chris was very personable and professional. He made sure all was working before departure. Abacus will be on my speed dial from now on. I was very pleased with the results and especially the response. The $55 coupon from Angie's List was a bonus!! Thank you Chris!!

Repiping is a gargantuan task. It went well. Abacus technicians responded very promptly to all concerns.

The bottom line is that I paid Abacus $6,200 to replace perfectly function cast iron pipe after they told me I had an impasse in a section of pipe when in fact there was no impasse. The Details: I had a blockage that was causing sewage to backup into a shower. Abacus unblocked the clog. Then said they were going to run a camera down the sewer line to determine condition. They said the old cast iron pipe was not smooth and that it should be smooth and recommended that they hydro jet the sewer line at a cost of $1,189 to clean it out to avoid future problems. I agreed to this. Abacus also informed me that there was a crack and blockage on the city's side of the sewer line and to call the city to have them make repairs. Three days later the city tried to inspect their problem but said there was a blockage in my sewer line. I called Abacus who put there camera in my sewer line and said there was an impasse in the sewer line where the city said it was. I was then quoted a price of $13,800 to replace my main sewer line or $6,200 to replace the portion of the sewer line where the impasse was located. I said I was going to call some other companies to get bids from them. They offered to credit methe $1,189 I had spent on the hydro jet towards what ever option I chose but the credit would only apply if I agreed to it that day - as their representative told me the $1,189 I spent on the hydro jet would be wasted (his words). I agreed to have only the section replaced where I was told there was an impasse. I watched as Abacus removed the old sewer pipe. There was no impasse. The pipe removed was fully functional and would have had years of service left. It was not perfectly smooth as the new PVC pipe but it was functional and did not have to be replaced. The "impasse" was a 45 degree turn followed by 3 ft. of pipe then another 45 degree turn. It was the second 45 degree turn that the Abacus plumber could not get his camera past and told me it there was an impasse. I asked Abacus where the impasse was several times and got no reply. I called the manager who also was the one that ran the camera and had an impasse. I told him there was no blockage. He said that he didn't say I had blockage that I had an impasse. Still not sure what is the difference. I then called his manager. I told him about the still functional pipe they removed and asked him to come out and look at it himself. Instead he sent the manager that said I had an impasse back. When I asked him to show me the impasse, he said "look the pipe is cracked". I told him that Abacus broke it with a sledge hammer when they were getting it out. He confirmed this with the Abacus plumber putting in the new pipe. I asked again about where the impasse was. The was no reply or he deflected giving an answer. The new, completely unnecessary new PVC pipe was competently installed. The only thing they did after this was to repeatedly send the original plumber to my house to collect the final payment when the job was not even complete (concrete not yet repaired). I did pay them when the needless job was completed. I wish that I didn't use Angie's List to find this company.

Called in a panic at 8:30 a.m. and someone was there by 2:00. My plumber Jarrod was kind, efficient, careful and explained everything he did. He even showed me how to fix the problem myself if I so desired, should it happen again.

They are great! They came out for an air conditioning overflow and to install a water heater. The drain was clogged and they came and unclogged it. They send out multiple guys to get the job done. I have used them in the past and will continue to use them in the future.

The office staff was professional when I called to set up the initial and followup appointments. When the tech, Andres, came out, he was very courteous and professional.

Timely. Efficient. Accurate and gave me options to make an informed decision. Worked with me even though I was out of town and dealt with my mom in a respectful friendly manner. Was able to replace my water heater same day. Overall excellent service.

Abacus explained the process, was considerate of our living conditions and managed issues as they arose. While it was a significant expense, it's worth the piece of mind that it's taken care of and we shouldn't have to worry about serious plumbing issues again. Be wary of their referrals. The two companies they referred for moisture removal and sheet rock repairs where disasters.
