My three year old AC unit stopped working Sunday night after hours, MC came the next morning and diagnosed the issue in less than 10 minutes. Turns out it was a clogged (AC) drain. He cleared it up and was on his way, with a job well done.

Perfect as always. As a homeowner, you get what you pay for and Abacus is the best. We only trust Abacus with our home.

We purchased the annual membership which gave us a whole house electrical check. We had another issue, too, but the technician was able to quickly resolve it for us at no extra charge. He did find out that our breaker box is overloaded and recommended that we get a sub-panel. The whole experience was positive from scheduling to completion. They called me an hour in advance when the tech was on his way and even texted me a photo and description so I would know who to expect. I definitely recommend!

When I called for service, I said I had a defective 1 1/2” valve that needed replacing. I asked if they wanted me to send a photo of the valve and the person said that was not necessary because all their plumbers would have those on their truck. Then they sent an email confirmation indicating that I needed a 1 1/2” valve replaced. Sure enough— you guessed it: the plumber said the largest valve he had was 1 1:4” so he would have to go get the 1 1/2” valve. That took about an hour of his time and mine. He was very nice and very skilled, but there is definitely a communication problem at Abacus.

He arrived on time and quickly assessed the damage. He recommendation for items that could be replaced sounded fine overall until it came down to price...which frankly just blew me away. My response was "no way am I paying that" to replace 2 breaker boxes. There was 1 GFCI that needed replacement as well which I was going to have him do until I heard how much that was going to be. I'm very happy he told me upfront what it was going to cost. ~$3k for breakers (each) and almost $200 to replace the GFCI.

Nathan was on time and professional. He explained the process and advised me on the correct filter size for use next time. I will be requesting his services for next year's inspection or if we experience any plumbing problems.

I ended up not getting this replaced by Abacus and did it myself due to the price. They wanted 195.00 for a 5 min job and parts cost $16 at Lowe’s. I have used Abacus in the past for large jobs like total AC replacement and water heater change outs. They are extremely professional and very punctual. I will continue to use them for larger jobs but have to admit I was shocked when they told me nearly $200 for a shut off valve.

Not yet completed but going great so far

They advertise $139 for drain cleaning. But as soon as the technician looked at my drain, that offer evaporated and he said it would cost $1100. Some special piece of equipment that blows out and suctions out the drain. When I told him I couldn't spend that much, he justified the amount because the piece of equipment had cost them $70,000. That is not my problem. Then he was going to charge me $49.99 for a service call. I wasn't told about that and when I told the technician that, he told me that I wouldn't have to pay. I feel that their practice is a bait and switch. I would not use them for that reason.

Luis responded in evening to assess and correct my problem. Courteous and knowledgable, he identified the problem and fixed the issue before it created overflow problems. Abacus is lucky to have him as their employee.

Abacus checked the situation and explained that I had done the right thing. The technician suggested I cut off a portion of the outlet pipe to assure it is above ground level. The technician then vacuumed water remaining in the A/C pan.

We needed two jobs done, replace a pvc valve leading to the house and then change the bronze ball valve on a back flow preventer for the sprinkler system. We supplied the bronze ball valve and they charged over $500 for what turned out to be just the pvc valve line AND used the bronze valve instead of the actual pvc valve that was supposed to be there. They never touched the back flow preventer. When I called to request them to come do what I thought I paid for I was told it would be another $450 to change out the valve. I won’t ever recommend them to anyone or use them again.

The technician worked really hard to find and ensure the problem was resolved. The only downside is the price. They're definitely one of the most expensive companies I've ever used. Be aware, you pay for everything and nothing is included in repair. Just to schedule an appointment, it's $49.95. Then once they arrive, to investigate the problem is another price. Then to do the repair it's another price. So definitely adds up quick. However, they got the job done in a tight squeeze.
