Description of Work: I have the yearly service plan with Abacus. For me it is a great deal since my knowledge of plumbing and HVAC is limited. Their premise is to check your systems and sell you other services and repairs they have found to be failing or close to that point. They give you the entire story explaining the why the issue(s) could be a future problem. They are not high pressure and don't do the OMG you could die scenario, they just explain the situation to let me decide and ask questions. They are NOT the most reasonable, but the work they do is quality and quality parts are used. They technicians we have used have been very friendly, know their job and went right to task to complete the work authorized. I now know future things that I can budget to do in the future and have a level of comfort in knowing the condition of my house.

Description of Work: After being here 10 minutes and looking at the bathtub, and not checking from the water was leaking into the downstairs closet, stated that I needed a whole new tub and shower and would cost approx $4800.

Description of Work: Quality of the work was fine, but I find the pricing excessive. They charge $49.95 to show up. That should be waived if they do the work. It cost me over $300 to simply have a dish washer drain hose replaced and a fixture tightened. Think I do the work myself next time.

Description of Work: Abacus (i) re-routed the kitchen outflow from its exterior pipe to a second (already existing) exterior pipe and also (ii) cleared root intrusions from the second pipe. The Abacus estimate (and cost) was less than half of that of others (warranty period was shorter, but we were fine with that), I should point out too that we had a number of visits from other plumbers that tried to fix the problem, but never did. The Abacus guys that came were very professional, very polite and actually quite nice to be around. It has been a few months since the Abacus work was performed and we have no complaints.

Description of Work: We have used Abacus a number of times over the last several months, they performed a water systems inspection which pointed out those items that were good and few items that were deficient. So far we have replaced a Kitchen Sink faucet, we had a couple faucets replaced. They took out an old under sink water filter and replaced it with a three filter under sink reverse osmosis system. They cleared a clogged toilet. They installed an add-on toilet bidet. They also replaced a problematic toilet with a new pressure assist ADA compliant toilet. We have been very pleased with all aspects of the service we have received. Each individual representiative was very professional, courteous, thorough. We like the fact that Abacus provides 24 hour service. Each time we needed a new item Abacus provided us with a detailed cost analysis which gave us the the opportunity to obtain needed items on our own or Abacus could obtain those items. We could easily understand the costs and could decide which option was best for us. When at first confronted with the high expense we were wary, however but in the end realized the satisfaction of having a professional company available and standing by the work we received was very much the important point. Over the years at our current home we have called upon plumbers of all shapes and sizes but never felt we could rely on any of them, With Abacus we feel that finally we have the company we can truly rely on.

Description of Work: I called to have a look at a toilet that was leaking around it's base. I was told of the service fee. When the very nice technician reviewed the work to be done he provided a quote for $400 to remove the toilet, and place a more heavy duty wax ring, then reseat the toilet. He also noted that the issue is the piping under the house that shifts as houses in Houston are prone to. Of course my $50 service fee would be absorbed by this cost. I know this is quite a high price. I went forward and am pleased with the work. But, it is too expensive by 2x what I have paid for similar work. I was offered a membership program which I refused.

Description of Work: I was referred to Abacus by another contractor. We had a small tub spout adjustment to make, and I wanted to go over some planned work with them to get an idea of options. Bob came out right away and was extremely knowledgeable. He carried everything he needed in his truck, so preformed the work right away on site, after giving me a written estimate. We also went through options for decreasing the time it took for our downstairs shower to hear up. Bob knew exactly what to do, and quoted me on the spot. He also took a look at our water heater installations and found several issues. I had him come back out a couple of days later to replace one water heater, and install a heat pump and thermal bypass valve. Bob arrived right on time - after I received a call 45 minutes prior from the dispatcher letting me know he was on the way. Bob and the other guys that showed up laid down carpet, and wore boot covers the entire time they were inside. Very polite, clean, and got straight to work. The end result was excellent. What you should be able to expect from everyone, but usually don't get. Bob went above and beyond and I would highly recommend using him and Abacus for any plumbing needs.

Description of Work: We have a leak in the island in our kitchen that has damaged our cabinets, baseboard, walls etc. We needed to find the leak. The technician looked at the water meter outside and said something is leaking-we knew that- and we needed to call a leak detection specialist. He said it was not the sink or dishwasher. He was there less than 15 minutes and charged us $49.95. We called another plumbing company the next day and they found that the leak was coming form under the dishwasher.

Description of Work: I live in California and have a house in Houston that I am renting out. I recently had a leaky kitchen faucet that needed attention. I called Abacus plumbing. I spoke to Miguel who went over to the house and suggested that a replacement sprayer was all that was needed. Unfortunately, the weekend went by and a replacement part couldn't be found. I started to get really frustrated as my renter was also getting frustrated by the delay. After listening to all my frustrations in a very calm and professional manner, Miguel went out of his way to pick up a prepaid faucet from Home Depot (I was in CA after all) and installed it way after business hours the very same day. What an amazing guy! My renter told me he was very professional and recommended that I always use this company. Miguel, you are awesome! Because of the delay, Miguel also spoke to his manager and was able to get me a discount - other companies are a bit cheaper but, you cannot beat such amazing service from amazing professionals! It was totally worth it! I would definitely use them again.
