Bar none - the most bizarre and unprofessional experience ever with a service provider. I used AAA before and had a good experience so when I didn't get a quote over the phone for the work I wanted done, I didn't think there would be much of an issue as pricing was fair on the previous outing. Tony showed up early to my house. It took 10 minutes and a great deal of patience to explain what I wanted. By the way the goal was simple- 1 key to work in 4 locks! I used the term marrying a key to lock and was told to stop. It was confusing to Tony. Just as he began to work on the first lock, I asked him for an idea of the cost. This made him visibly upset and was bothered that I hadn't already gotten it. He became even more frustrated when he couldn't do it in his head and said "I don't know". I said I was sorry but didn't want him to get to far into it before asking and he said "We're already past that point" 10 minutes later he still trying to figure out how to take the first lock off the door. Once again visibly upset. He said "I can't get this lock off the door.....". I had to show him how I did it for a similar door on the garage. It was at this point that I told him the FIRST time that maybe we should stop right there and we could do this some other time. He had completely lost his composure 3x in 20 minutes. It didn't get any better as he couldn't figure out out to address the lock on my storm door and he said the key that I had for two other locks (that worked) wasn't good enough. I wouldn't buy new lock sets which cranked him up again. After losing composure a couple more time over locking himself on the wrong side of the door while working on it, I asked him to stop for a SECOND time. He was so out of control by this time that I was considering calling the police.Finally he reached his limits and said he was going to stop after having fixed 1 of the 4 locks after over an hour after he started. The price he came to to fix all 4 locks was $150 with possibly $25 more depending on how much time he had to spend on the storm door. He only manage to fix 1 of the 4 and wanted to charge me $135. After seeing that I was starting to be upset by all of this his demeanor changed and became more conciliatory but we settled on $100 and I declined to have him come back after he had time to "research" the locks. After the first experience, I couldn't imagine a second exposure. I contacted the owner Scott and of course had no response. These comments will be reflected in the BBB complaint filed
Description of Work: 4 locks were to addressed. Two were older Dexter locks that I wanted rekeyed. 1 was a Pella storm door that I didn't have a key for and 1 was a new Digital keypad system that the installer had thrown the keys out for accidentally during the installation. Only the new Digital Pad entry key was addressed.

AAA was on time although after spending over an hour at my home, declined to do the work. They said the locks were not "industry standard" and that I would have to replace all of them with new ones. Needless to say, I considered that a "forced selling tactic" and sent them on their way w/o payment. I called another locksmith, Debow Lock and Safe, and they were on time, changed all of my locks, and even fixed a broken lock cylinder. I paid &70.00 I would HIGHLY recommend Debow.

CONCERNING THE ONLY NEGATIVE REVIEW AGAINST AAA LOCKSMITHS CO., THE CUSTOMER SAID HE/SHE SENT US AWAY WITHOUT PAYMENT. THE TRUTH IS AS A RULE WE NEVER ASK FOR PAYMENT ON JOBS WE REFUSE. WE COULD NOT HAVE BUILT UP A LOYAL CUSTOMER LIST OF 10,000 BUSINESS AND FAMILIES OVER THE LAST 35 YEARS WITH THOSE KIND OF BUSINESS PRACTICES. FURTHERMORE, ON THE OTHER ALLEGATION THAT WE TRIED THE BAIT AND SWITCH; WHAT WOULD BE THE MOTIVATION IN UP SELLING THIS CUSTOMER WHEN YOU CONSIDER THAT WE CARRY A VERY SMALL INVENTORY OF HARDWARE ON OUR TRUCKS. WE WOULD RATHER GET THE JOB DONE WHILE WE ARE THERE, UNLESS WE HAVE A COMPELLING REASON OTHERWISE AS WAS I'M SURE THE CASE HERE. AFTER ALL, IT WOULD JUST MEAN AN EXTRA TRIP AND EXTRA EXPENSE FOR US TO GET THE PARTS AND HARDWARE NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE JOB. WE WOULD MUCH RATHER WORK WITH THE LOCKS THE CUSTOMER HAS. IN FACT FROM OUR POINT OF VIEW, OUR DREAM JOB IS TO SERVICE OR (RE-KEY) LOCKS THAT ARE NEW AND PERFECTLY FUNCTIONAL SO WE CAN MAKE MONEY WITHOUT HAVING TO SPEND ANY EXTRA TIME ADJUSTING LOCKS OR GETTING PARTS OR HARDWARE. IN THAT PARTICULAR CUSTOMER'S CASE, WE PROBABLY WERE NOT WILLING TO WORK ON THE CUSTOMER'S OLD HARDWARE WHICH TYPICALLY IS A HODGEPODGE OF DIFFERENT BRANDS AND DIFFERENT GRADES THAT WERE LIKELY TO MALFUNCTION. THEY OFTEN MAKE INADVISABLE DEMANDS THAT ALL LOCK WORK ON THE SAME KEY UNDER THE ABOVE DESCRIBED CONDITIONS. I DON'T MAKE ANY CLAIMS THAT I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE BUT AS A GENERAL RULE PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT WE GUARANTEE OUR LABOR AND, UNLIKE MOST LOCKSMITHS THAT ARE MOBILE AND HAVE ONLY A PHONE NUMBER TO TURN TO IF THERE IS A COMPLAINT, AS IS THE CASE WITH THE DEBOW SAFE & LOCK THAT THE COMPLAINANTS HEAPED SO MUCH PRAISE ON IN HIS/HER REPORT, WE HAVE AN ESTABLISHED ACTUAL BUSINESS LOCATION THAT HAS BEEN IN OPERATION SINCE 1974. CUSTOMERS CAN COME THERE TO SEE US FACE-TO-FACE AND AIR THEIR GRIEVANCES. THAT'S HOW WE HAVE OPERATED FOR OVER 30 YEARS AND OUR CUSTOMERS KNOW IT. AAA LOCKSMITHS CO. DID NOT CHARGE THE CUSTOMER ANY MONEY AS IN HIS/HER OWN WORDS ARE STATED IN THE REPORT FOR THE HOUR WE SPENT THERE. THIS MAKES OUR CASE AND DEMONSTRATES AN HONEST DEALING IN THE CUSTOMER'S INTEREST. FROM OUR POINT OF VIEW, IT WOULD BE LIKE A MECHANIC PUTTING NEW PARTS IN AN OLD CAR THAT THE MECHANIC KNOWS WOULD BE A WASTE OF MONEY TO THE CUSTOMER AND NOT BE IN THE CUSTOMERS OR HIS BEST INTEREST. JUST BECAUSE IT CAN BE DONE, DOESN'T MEAN IT SHOULD BE DONE. THE CUSTOMER'S REPORT IN THIS CASE SHOULD BE GIVEN THE SAME WEIGHT AS WHAT WE CHARGED HIM/HER, WHICH WAS NOTHING. AAA Locksmith was very fast to respond to my call. They arrived within an hour to help get in my car. They are very professional and I have been really satisfied with them. Their quality of work is excellent in comparison to the price of service. I have a year subscription with them for $50 to $60 per year.
