To verify, I called the company this afternoon, to find out how they respond to a new customer. When I asked about their policies, these are the answers I got: Question: Your workers don't work in the rain? Your workers can decide that they don't want to work anytime?Answer: Yes, if they don't want to work in the rain.(I then told him that it had been raining previously when my other child used their services, and that group did work in the rain.) Question: And you charge double the rate that you quote once you arrive at the service address? Answer: However long it takes our workers to load, we charge that amount again to unload, regardless of how long it takes. Question: So if you load for 3 hours and unload for one, you still charge for 3 hours?Answer: Yes. But, if it takes 4 hours to unload, we still charge for 3 hours. That sounds good, except you know it never takes as long to haul stuff off a truck as it does to get it onto a truck. And something like that should be disclosed upfront, not after you've arrived a day and several hours late. I give this company an F+, because he did answer my questions. Description of Work: This mover actually contracted to move my son, but since I am the member, and I was so outraged by what he told me they did, I have elected, with his permission, and at his request, to post this information so that others may be aware of how this company operates. They contracted to move my son and his family on June 30, 2012,(I believe this date to be correct) and were due to arrive on that Saturday morning. Well, it rained on that Saturday, so the workers eventually called to say that since it was raining, they weren't going to show up. They said they didn't work in the rain, that was their policy. My son asked them, well, what about tomorrow? They answered, it's not supposed to rain tomorrow. When he asked them what would happen if it did rain, they said it wouldn't. They came on Sunday, (it wasn't raining), and before they even got started, they renegotiated the price, and refused to get started until my son would agree to their new terms. They said that whatever the rate previously agreed, however many hours they actually worked, the fee would be doubled. My son was desperate, and had to be out of the house that day, and didn't have any other movers to call on a Sunday. So, he reluctantly agreed. It took them over two hours to load the first load, and another hour to get it to my son's new home and out of their truck. My son had decided he would not use them after that first load, and settled up with them and let them leave. He had to pay them for 6 hours at $65 per hour. After that, he rented a UHaul and got some friends and family to help him get the rest of their things out of the house. The men broke the hose connection to their new high-efficiency washing machine, and nicked or broke furniture. When the company was called to ask what they were going to do about it, they avoided the question, and then, stopped answering their calls.
