+ 0 moreI do not recommend Harvest Landscape Services, 1918 Josh Rd, Fort Worth. The licensed irrigation expert, Brian Giles, designed a plan and buried 3 tanks each with 300 gallons capacity for harvesting of rainwater without regard to the proper preparation of the hole and protection of the tanks which could not withstand the pressures of the earth pushing against the tanks in the long dry summer. The pumps installed to move water from one tank to the next were plugged into an extension cord and then into the outlet because they didn't purchase the proper components. The system stopped working in April 2010. When the tanks were dug out in Dec 2011 they had punctures, the pvc connection to the spigot was collapsed, one of the 3 pumps had lost its electrical cables. For the full landscaping project, the project manager told me 3 weeks of work to complete my landscape and it took 5 months August into January 2011. Repeated phone calls efforts to obtain information were ignored. They also ignored contact efforts from Fort Worth?s Better Business Bureau. I obtained their bid through eContractorsbid.com. Because of Harvest Landscape's failure to deal with me properly, eContractorsbid.com no longer allows Harvest to bid on projects through the website. I have had no such trouble with businesses recommended through Angie's List.
Description of Work: Harvest Landscape bid on 3 parts of a renovation of my landscape. The patio cupola is good. The implementation of the design I provided them on the plants and layout is ok. There are three significant areas that I regard as horrible. 1.They selected large river rocks about 3" diameter without consulting me to gravel over about 1/4 of my backyard. The rocks are too large to walk across without stumbling. 2.They designed and installed a system to harvest rainwater from the roof of my home and from french drains they installed in the backyard without regard to the purpose of the type of tanks I had used above ground. The tanks stopped functioning about 6 months after the system was finished(Dec 2010). The heat of summer and pressures of earth against the tanks caused leaks from holes and collapsed pvc connections. A sinkhole began forming in September 2011 beside the electrical connection they installed to run the pumps. When we dug out the cisterns in December 2011, the leaking and collapsed tanks were removed. 3. Harvest Landscape said the work we verballly agreed on would take 3 weeks. As week after week passed and my calls were seldom returned I had little leverage to get the project completed and end their access to my yard. For a job started in August, delayed through September and October with excuses about plant availability, plants finally went in in November. The final inspections for permits didn't take place until January 2011. That's 5 months for a 3 week project.

Description of Work: The paver installation they did was okay, as was the demo work and the old shrub removal. However, several of the plant choices by their "expert" for the new landscaping were quite poor, and the new installation of 14 landscape lighting fixtures was a disaster. After 6-8 return visits, they NEVER figured out what was wrong with the system. Finally, we just gave up and turned off the lights. My advice: Don't EVER employ this company to install outdoor lighting. They simply don't know what they're doing!
