Hired them to level one corner of an addition which was sinking and had broken the slab foundation resulting in a crack and non level floor in that corner. They jacked up the sunken corner and supported it with footings. I was generally satisfied with the work. However, the contract specified that they were to then come in and cut out a two foot trench (one foot each side of the ~15' crack in the slab), remove the rubble, drill in rebar to the two sides and refill the trench with concrete. After jacking up the corner, the two management level guys oohed and ahhed about how good the crack looked. They suggested that cutting the trench was not necessary. So, what I got was a guy spent a few hours grinding the two sides of the crack smooth in a few places and then pushing concrete into the crack. I was OK with that. However, that's a LOT of work they had just been relieved of and I felt a price adjustment was appropriate. That was not forthcoming. They charged me the full amount even though they did not have to do a big chunk of work they had signed a contract to do. So, despite what I felt was generally good work, I came away from the experience with a bad taste of "bait and switch". Be prepared for that if you hire them.

Very poorly to put it mildly. Late start, crew of three, with no knowledge of what the job required, especially where it came to leveling the floor. Parts of the job had to be torn off and repeated, requiring extra materials, all due to crew not having any knowledge in the use of concrete leveling products. Used wrong product two different times requiring the tear off of couple areas of the wood flooring. The bottom line is, by the end of the job they were frustrated and calling me names, and insisting on final payment before even partial resolution of problems. Today some of the wood is popping loose from the floor due to them not sealing the concrete overlay I've had moisture problems coming up through the wood. Due to the lack of knowledge and cooperation the whole experience was not one I'd want to repeat or wish on anyone else.

Dear Sir, Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our company. We certainly strive for every customer experience with us to be a great one. Please accept my sincerest apologies that we didn't meet you expectations. We really do try very hard to meet and exceed every customer's expectations on every project. In this very trying time we have been experiencing unexpected and extenuating circumstances with regards to materials and availability of quiet a few key necessities for various projects. We have had to adapt and make changes to the challenges and I will be the first to admit that we have not been successful with every challenge thrown our way. This is a very trying time for everyone, but I will not have this be an excuse for not having met your expectations. I will happily try my absolute best to ensure that you and I can resume a successful business relationship. If given the opportunity, I'd like to try and mend this situation with you. Kind regards, Robert Howard

This company was really great. I am very happy with the foundation repair and leveling that they did on my home. I had hired another company 2 years ago that didn't do a good job. Aztec fixed my house and it looks 1000 times better than it did before. The workers were really nice and professional. They took care of problems without me having to be standing over them. I would recommend this company to anybody needing foundation repairs or leveling.

My insurance engineer stated that there was no need for the house to be leveled. Plan was presented Aztec Hose Leveling and they were very upset and rude because I had to cancel the contract. The sad part is that my money was not reimbursed ($1500.00). This is a company that will not work with you in case something goes wrong ! Very poor customer service. The manager was very rude and disrespectful!

Dear [Member Name Removed], It is regretful that you feel we have not provided you with quality service. We have invested many, many man hours into your project including the negotiation of your insurance claim, 2 trips by a plumber to perform testing and supervision by our management team throughout the negotiation process with your insurance adjuster. Our team spent many hours providing your insurance adjuster with every bit of information he required for your claim. All the plumber'[Member Information Removed] time, and our man hours invested in your project were covered by your deposit. The balance was returned to you after your decision to terminate our contract after the necessary 3 day cancellation clause had expired. We feel as though we did everything possible to provide you with quality customer service in a professional and workman like manner. Again, we are regretful that we could not assist you further with a more positive result with regards to your insurance claim and are always striving to do better for all of our clients. We appreciate your candidness and will always strive to provide our clients with the best quality service we can.

I used Aztec House Leveling last year for some foundation repairs and this year I figured I needed some plumbing repairs done due to my foundation shifting, so I called them back out. They came out the next day after calling to give me an assessment on what needed to be done. They saw that I had a plumbing leak and that was the reason for my foundation to shift. Like before they provided me with a lot of information making it easy to hire them again. Therefore, I signed a contract to fix the plumbing leak and to also honor my 10 year warranty on the foundation repairs from last year by doing adjustments where needed. Again, they were professional and got my work done in a timely fashion. I would definitely recommend Aztec House Leveling for any and all home repair needs. On a different note, before posting this review I decided to read some other reviews about Aztec and was floored by what some NON-customers had to say about this company. I find it extremely strange that you wouldn't do your homework on a company before hiring them especially knowing how many fly by nights that are out there. I thoroughly did my homework beforehand and that's how I came across Aztec House Leveling. They had the reviews, the knowledge and the experience you look for in a construction company and that's why I hired them twice. Unfortunately, in today's world anyone and everyone has the right and/or power to write reviews whether they are true or not which is just not right. Don't take your anger out on a company just because you didn't like the price or their employees, especially if they didn't do any work for you either. Aztec House Leveling & Remodeling's work will speak for itself.

On 8/25/14, I signed a contract with Aztec and gave them 1/3 of the total cost of the repairs. I gave Doug a $4,200.00 cashiers check along with the contract. I was also informed that they wouldn't be able to start the job until 6 weeks from that date, and that at the start of work another 1/3 of the total cost would be needed. Doug informed my wife and I that we had 3 days from the signing of the contract to cancel it and receive a full refund under state law. We were satisfied with that, and signed and Doug left. On 8/26/14, I did more research on the company and what other people have done. I also received lots of call backs from different companies that wanted to come give me an estimate. I was being bombarded with information and felt that I needed to cancel the contract due to the 3 day time constraint so that I could make a more informed decision before spending 12,500 with Aztec. I called Doug to let him know that I wanted to cancel and I wanted to gather more information before moving forward and hopefully sign another contract the following week. Doug became irate with me over the phone and basically said that I don't trust him and he spent many hours at my house measuring my foundation, which he only spent a total of 30-45 minutes both inside and outside my home. He then went to tell me that he doesn't want to work with someone that he does not trust, and that he has plenty of other customers and doesn't need my business. I told him to wait, and let me contact my wife before I made a decision. Doug called me back while I was speaking with my wife and asked if he could come over with his Supervisor, Jarrett Alexander. I agreed, and they arrived at my home in 10 minutes. Both Doug and Mr. Alexander got out of their trucks and started walking to my property. As soon as I saw Doug coming onto my property, I told him to turn around and go back to his truck because I wanted to speak to Mr. Alexander about his behavior. He did so, in a very rude manner and sat in his truck for 5 minutes and then took off in a very fast pace down my street where kids play. I spoke with Mr. Alexander and heard him out for about 20 minutes without interrupting. When he was done talking, I asked him if I ever interrupted him while he was talking, and he acknowledged that I didn't. I told him that Doug's behavior was unacceptable and asked if it was true that they DID NOT need my business and potentially 12,500 dollars. He said that he wanted and needed my business and that Doug would be reprimanded. At this time he gave me my cashiers check back and asked that I come out to a job site the next afternoon before cancelling the contract to see his work. I was not able to make it to the job site in time, and nobody was there when I got there. Mr. Alexander never gave me his telephone number and would always call from a blocked number. I spoke with Mr. Alexander previously in the day and told him verbally that I wished to cancel the contract and would like to wait til the following week to make my final decision. He kept pressing to get me to wait, and I asked him to please respect my request of cancellation. I gathered more information on this company, and apparently over the past years they have changed their names several times. Also, the physical address of their office is a run down house in the ghetto part of Harlingen. I went to that address to receive a notice of cancellation in writing so that I won't have to worry about them trying to say that I never cancelled the contract. I came to work and called the office number again to ask for Mr. Alexanders email address so that I could email him and have a paper trail that I cancelled the contract. The receptionist was rude and asked why I needed it and I told her the reason and she gave it to me. I emailed Mr. Alexander so that I could have a paper trail for my records. 15 minutes after emailing Mr. Alexander, I received a fax with a notice of cancellation. 15 minutes after receiving the fax he called me from a blocked phone number again. I answered and he sounded very agitated and asked what exactly was my problem and what did I want from him. I told him I just wanted a notice of contract cancellation and I had already received it. I advise ANYONE looking to use this company to PLEASE do your research!!!! This is a lot of money for me to spend, and both Doug and Mr. Alexander's professionalism really sealed the deal for me not going with their company. They bad mouthed other companies, bad mouthed the structural engineer that I was going to hire, and basically bad mouthed myself. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research. Yes, they are on Angie's List, but look at their track record before then and how many times they have changes their company name. I also found it odd that when I was calling other companies in Harlingen, such as A-Advance and A-1, and A-Affordable, ALL OF THEM HAD THE SAME RECEPTIONIST ANSWERING THE PHONE. I am glad that I chose not to go with this company, and I hope you do your research before you invest your hard earned money on them.
Description of Work: The provider came to my house last week on 8/18/2014 to do an inspection of my home foundation. He walked around the outside and inspected cracks around my windows in the brick mortar. He then went inside my house with a digital device to measure the foundation level. He took approximately 10-15 minutes to do this.

We sincerely regret not being able to come to a mutually satisfactory agreement with you (Member name removed) regarding the repairs to your home. I certainly understand your frustration with the process and in dealing with multiple separate companies and multiple opinions regarding the method(s) of repairs for your home. This is my one and only business. I do not have any affiliation whatsoever with any other foundation repair / remodeling firms. My company name has never changed. Every employee with prior experience has worked for another firm I am sure, but that has absolutely no bearing on me or my company. My complete interest in focused on Aztec and my clients' repair projects. I can say that with every repair project, there are many obstacles to overcome from pricing, contract agreements, mutual trust & respect, down to actual construction, etc. With all of the aforementioned obstacles, it is sometimes very hard to reach an agreement with all of our clients. Often times we as contractors / salesmen pour our heart and soul into these projects. We impose on ourselves a policy of making every effort to ensure the project is handled efficiently and professionally from our initial visit to the very last hour of the projects completion. Everyone here at Aztec is working with me for a reason. I have complete trust and faith in all of my employees to handle each and every project with care and professionalism. With that being said, I am also fully aware that everyone is human and therefore has the potential of making mistakes in judgement and in character from time to time. While I hold with high regard all of my employees, I also feel the same about each and every client. I know that without the support and trust of clients such as yourself, that I would not have success and longevity in this industry. Let me be clear in that I do NOT condone un-professionalism in my employees, but I am understanding of human nature and feelings. Your grievances about my salesman's actions will not be overlooked. Please accept my sincerest apologies for any inconveniences and mis-handlings with your home repair project. I know it is of extreme importance to you that you have complete faith and trust with whomever you hire to perform the repairs to your home. I am deeply regretful that we were unable to reach a mutually satisfactory agreement. I stand by the decision to halt any further efforts to be awarded your approval for our plan of repairs to your home. I wish you the best in your search to find the right contractor for you and your home repair project. Respectfully, Robert Howard

It started very well from the initial estimate and start of work, then I was left alone with their crew of workers and having to call their office/salesperson when needed to come over and check the work. After the last payment they promised to be back and finish the work repairing the front porch, sprinkler systems plus adding dirty back to some holes, have had serious difficulties to have my multiple phone calls returned and the work is not yet complete despite of final payment made 2 months ago. I even gave up to ask them to finish the work promised to be inside the house, all of this included on their original estimate.

Initial contacts worked well, always answering to my calls. During execution of the work I was left alone with their crew and had to supervise the work by myself, the office/sales team will stop by to collect payments only. After work was complete, had tough time to finish the final clean up and work at front porch. Still cannot get them coming to my home to fix issues caused on the sprinkler system. No responses to my phone calls, promise to send a person but they don't appear and there is no explanation for the miss. Payment was done in full several weeks ago, I recommend you not making a final payment until you are completely satisfied with the job and not expecting them to address any pending issue.

The Aztec crew were very professional and worked very hard to help us return our house to a level state. The crew had to hand dig twenty holes around the parameter of our house in order to place twenty piers to be used in the leveling process. The dirt that was removed was carefully placed in an area that was covered with plastic and later replaced as was the stones and other yard items. When done it was hard to tell they had been there. Thank you Aztec for helping us return our house to a state of normalcy.
Description of Work: Leveled our house which had settled. We were starting to have water seep into the west side of our house when it would rain. We had to remove the carpet from our bedrooms and moved all the furniture to the middle of the room. This is in addition to the cracks that were beginning to appear on the outside of our house.

My experience has been very dissatisfying. I was just trying to get a hold of them to complete the service for me after they had come a day early without me knowing. They were very unresponsive and I requested the phone number of the owner and they said they were not able to do that and would relay the message. I ended up getting a hold of the owner and he ended up yelling at me and putting me to blame saying "He could not call me every minute on the minute." I was just trying to reschedule an appointment we made around my schedule and they were not willing to work with me. At about 1pm, Jared Alexander came by to resolve the issue. He told me that he was on my side on some of the concerns. He said he has been having problems with his cell phone and that is why he was yelling. I feel he could have gotten a land line and that his voice is very threatening. He refused to do so. He says that "that is the way he talks" and refused to lower his voice. Additionally he said he has already reprimanded his office workers for his staff being late and his workers not calling, but who is going to reprimanded him? He said that my perception of him being discourteous should not reflect on his workers, but I feel that they are all connected and that this is not right. I also told him that I do not want anything to do with him. I do not have any problems with Albert or Doug. I regret going with this company. As long as he does not come over I have no problems. I feel he does not get it and is not taking responsibility on his part and has no tact.

I apologize for the inconvenience we have caused you and we understand your time is valuable, but our time is valuable as well. We try to accommodate to all of our customers and sometimes we are ahead of schedule and sometimes we are behind schedule. He stated that my house needing leveling all around the corners. A structural engineer provided by my insurance company made an inspection of my house. He stated that the leveling problem was not serious and my real problem was termites. I later contacted a termite company highly recommended by Angie's List. I hired this company and made they provided the termite extermination doing an excellent job. Later I hired a friend to repair the termite damage which was extremely severe. I glad of not hiring Aztec Leveling Co. at this time because the real problem was termites and not my house settling.

Over the last couple of years I had been experiencing some issues with my home that led me to believe that I was having some foundation problems. Hearing horror stories from other people, I decided the best approach would be to hire an engineer to assess my home's situation and provide a thorough plan of repair that would permanently fix my problems. I hired and consulted with an engineer last year. I discussed my home's issues and he conducted what I though was a thorough investigation. We discussed the different types of foundation repair methods because that was my main interest and reason for hiring him in the first place. In the end, the engineer recommended gutters to divert water away from my foundation. He also recommended soaker hoses. I have admit I was kind of happy that he didn't recommend foundation repairs as an option because of the cost. It wasn't until an entire year went by with absolutely no positive changes that I realized his recommendations were completely wrong. We got almost no rain last year because of extreme drought. So the expense of the gutters were a waste of money and the soaker hoses resulted in huge water bills every month. On top of all the additional expenses I incurred due to the engineer's recommendations, my home wasn't in any better shape. In fact I think it got worse. Needless to say I wasted $700.00 on that engineer to boot. I went back and did my own research, and decided that my first instinct was the best. I called out two different foundation repair companies for assessments and estimates. The people over at Aztec had their stuff together. I hired them to install piers around my foundation to lift and stabilize it. They provided me with a lot of information that made my decision to hire them easy. They were professional and got to my job in a decent amount of time. I am very happy with the work they did. I would definitely recommend this company to others looking to fix foundation problems. Very good overall experience

I was given a generous senior discount, and an additional $200 was deducted because the concrete order was shared between two jobs. The crew worked fast and efficiently. A crewman was sent into the attic to make sure no damage was done when the house end was levelled. The crew went outside of their job description to fix a drain pipe from my washer that had pulled apart due to the settling of the house. After the job was completed, they moved the excess dirt to cover low spots in the yard, and around my plants. They also transplanted one of my plants for me and moved a dead tree out of my yard. It is unusual to find a company that goes that extra step to help their customers.

The foundation work that Aztec recommended was very expensive, $4200. I got another estimate from a company that installs mobile homes and they found almost no problems with my foundation. The slight variance in leveling did not warrant it being repaired. So I decided I didn't need to spend so much money. I suggest being absolutely sure that you need the work Aztec recommends before hiring them. Their sales rep was very professional and explained the repair in great detail. I was impressed by his presentation.
Description of Work: Aztec responded to my call to evaluate the foundation of my mobile home. The sales rep used his leveling equipment to check the entire floor and then told me it was from .5 to 1.5 inches off in different areas. He explained the needs and procedure very well and gave me an estimate of $4200. He said I needed to pay one-half of the cost when I signed the contract although the work wouldn't take place for 2-4 weeks.

Everything went well except for the flower bed. They ruined approximately 1/2 of the bed, replace a few plants with whatever they bought at Home Depot but failed to realize the plants should not have been planted in direct sun instead of the original drought-sun resistant ones. After beginning the job, they found an additional beam needed to be replaced which resulted in the original price doubling. Since the work needed to be done I authorized it. Had dirt piled over the existing grass in front of house, which has not been able to thrive since. Still looks incomplete, dirty.
Description of Work: Leveled 1950s house on one side using approximately 7 piers. When contracted I asked if the flower bed would be effected/ruined. The estimate person said "No!, the workers have enough room to work around it."

After receiving their proposal, I consulted a structural engineer for $400.00. He reported that my home had only cosmetic problems & that the house did not need leveling. He also reported that many problems can be prevented or 'repaired' just by keeping the soil around the foundation moist. He indicated that any kind of 'leveling' in one are of a house, generally causes problems in another. He was most informative gave many suggestions for maintaining the foundation stable.
Description of Work: No services were performed.

We live in a very old house that was built in 1923 that has a ton of "character." The house is constantly shifting as old houses tend to do. We noticed there were major cracks in the walls and that the front of the house was leaning and pulling away from the center more than usual. Also, there is a double chimney at the center of the house and the surrounding floors were being sucked down towards the fireplace. We called a number of foundation companies to come out and give estimates. In addition, we asked a number of friends and acquaintances who have foundation work done. More than one person directed us to Aztec or the former company name AAA. They came out and gave the initial estimate and were very reassuring and worked with us to determine a plan of action within our budget. They were prompt and professional. Job was well done and they guarantee their work. Note: We used to live in San Antonio and owned an older home that had foundation issues. We had foundation work done by 3 different companies so I can honestly say that Aztec here in Brownsville was one of our more positive experiences.
Description of Work: Front of 2 story house built in 1923 had to be stabilized. Chimney foundation also had to be stabilized as well.

I first saw their ad in the newspaper in the storm section of the paper and decided to call them for a free estimate for foundation repairs and hail damage I received from the storm. The sales man was very helpful and thorough with his inspection. I was very impressed with the company and decided to sign a contract with them. I am had 10 drilled piers installed and some minor hail storm damage repaired around my home. I'm extremely satisfied with their services and professionalism.
Description of Work: I had foundation repairs and some minor hail damage repaired due to the storm.
