J Davis Tree Care Solutions

Said they would arrive between 1 and 3 P.M. Arrived at 3:25 PM. While working, my wife and I asked them about doing some more trimming on a couple of the trees and were told that was not on the estimated price given and/or that is not what was called out on the sheet. Also, doing what we asked them to do would make the tree not look right and if they took more off where we wanted, it would cause them to have to go all around the tree again to reshape it. Also, asked them to remove one limb from Maple tree in the back and was told it was not on the sheet. However, I said I would pay for it. Took less than 4 minutes to cut it and haul it off to the truck out front - charged additional $100. They still left a dead limb on the tree. Also, did not do well at trimming the dead from the Mulberry tree. At one point one worker asked another what was meant on the Job/worksheet and the other said he did not know what it meant. Was completed and they left at 4:25 P.M. ( a total of one hour on site). I called Monday to get the price owed and the office could not provide it because the work sheet had not been turned in. I asked what J Davis normally charged by the hour and was told $395 an hour. Finally called me Tuesday afternoon (today) and said they had the price. I called back and was given a price of $795 for the work (they added $100 to the estimate was for the one extra limb I asked them to cut off). Then, there a 5% disposal fee added to the $795 and then the sales tax was added to that, coming to a total of $903.62. When I asked about the hourly rate of $395, I was told they could not answer that because if the hourly rate was charged, they may not have sent out as many people or it may have taken longer; etc., etc. (Really?) Takeaway from this is that I should have asked the person giving me the original estimate what he figured/estimated timewise it would take to complete the work. Then if it was estimated at say two hours but only took one hour, the final price should be revised downward. Also, if the workers did not know exactly what was meant on the sheet they used, either they are not well trained or perhaps the person giving the estimate should be with them while they are doing the job so he can answer any questions. Finally, I think that the homeowner should be satisfied with the work and if he/she is not, they should do what the homeowner wants (rather than saying they cannot do this or that). I paid the requested amount, but I do not believe I will use this service again.

Very well, they did a great job and worked hard to save what could be saved. They were there timely and worked for a full day. The end result was as they had explained.

I have used J Davis for tree care for many years. They have always done excellent work. They always send out an arborist to evaluate the trees and help me determine what needs to be done. As usual, they were on time and efficient and do excellent clean up. I wouldn't use anyone else.

It went very well. Arborist who came over to do free estimate was very knowledgeable and able to explain what did or didn't need to be done. The work crew that came over cut, trimmed, raked and cleaned up all debris. They bring their own mulching unit, so clean up went very well. I have referred their business to my neighbors. One has already used their service and was very pleased.

Both cypress trees are browning and in poor health. I don't know the person's name, but the day before my appointment I received a call from someone from J Davis. The gentleman asked me some questions and then told me he would be happy to come out, but that he thought I would be better served using my money towards removing these trees and purchasing new ones. I was 100% confident that he was right because he told me to look for a few things on the trees that I hadn't noticed before, most noticeably sapping. So, even though I never met anyone from this company... I would not hesitate to call them again due to their superb customer service.

Billy Davis came out and gave us a bid, told us when they would be available, showed up when they said they would and did a great job for a very reasonable price. I have used them on a number of occasions and have never had a problem or been disappointed in their work or service

They were very nice, just did not return our calls in a timely manner. Had to call 3 times, and they did finally call back and offer a discount. We decided not to use them.

Shannon came to our house and walked the entire landscape with me, indulging my questions and offering his observations. He was polite, patient, friendly, professional/insightful and had a great sense of humor! Shannon took the time to explain how I needed to care for certain trees, ways they should be pruned for optimal care and how I could tell that my tree was dead. (We had hoped it would "come back.") Shannon quoted me the price of the tree removal and stump grinding: It was fully HALF of what I had been previously quoted!! Shannon really took his time at our appointment, even suggesting which type of tree would be best to replace the removed tree, based on what I wanted (shade? fast growing? color? etc.) and gave me the card of a local garden center where the arborists there could help me select and purchase a tree. J Davis doesn't not sell/plant trees, but will coordinate the work with the vendor you select. J Davis gives you a general timeframe for service, based on weather. With the recent rains, our tree removal was delayed. Shannon called the day before to let me know when the crew was coming out. The crew left a signed card on my door after removing the tree; I was home working and never knew they were there! The stump grinding has been delayed due to rain, but I am confident that it will be done. I am grateful that a friends of mine referred me to them.

We used them since 1993. We have a huge oak tree when we built the house. One of the big trees died and they just have to remove that. They came out and they cleaned out; got out the roots and every year they came out and do the trimming. If there's a bad storm I call them they come right away. I've used them for 20 years. They're really, really good. They're very professional. Their prices are reasonable. They're excellent. They're no expensive than anybody else. The quality of what they do and every tree we have they take care of it.

The storms that came through the area on 4/18/2015 split the tree in my front yard and part of the tree landed on my house. I called to schedule someone to come out and provide me with a quote and to try to schedule the removal of the tree. The receptionist was very nice and polite, but could not schedule anyone to come out until the following week. I would expect for a company to work extra hours and weekend time during an emergency to facilitate these issues. I asked for someone to come out in the evening or on the weekend since they were booked up M-F 8-5. The receptionist informed me that they did not work those hours.

They were quick, after my call they came out within a week. The leaves are out fully but I don't know, it is fairly gone so I have to see if this year if it needs to be removed but I am hoping that it will looked better than last year but I can't tell it yet. I would recommend them. They are certified arborist so that carries a value with me.

called for a free estimate, received estimate the same day with explanation of what would be done; work performed the next business day, happy with the results and no clean up needed on our part

Excellent service all around, from the initial estimate, discussion with arborist and the crew that did the work. Price was comparable to competitors.

We have used him off and on for 3 or 4 times. He is very prompt, he cleans up very well after his service, and just seems very professional. He is not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. He does very good work.

I called J Davis and they sent the arborist, Shannon Finch out the next day. We discussed what I wanted done which was raise canopies, clean out dead branches to open the canopies, trim off dead branches on fig tree, cut out a short tree entwined in the chain link, and identify the cause of disease in one oak tree. Shannon identified the oak disease problem and referred me to a company that could treat the tree. He suggested feeding the trees in the front yard where the diseased tree was located. He gave me an estimate for that work. The next day the crew (Jose, Jorge, Jason and Joseph) came out and did the work. They raised the canopy on 6 trees as well as cleaning out dead branches and cleaned off small sucker leaves/branches to open up the canopies. They trimmed back many dead branches on my fig tree. They cut off a tree trunk of a small tree growing up intertwined in the fence. When they cut the trunk of that small tree growing up in the fence line, Joseph suggested to the worker that he take another tool and get the remains disentangled from the fence rather than just let it die. They did everything I asked including going back up one of the trees because I wanted a couple of other branches taken off and trimmed back. As usual, they were on time, and very efficient. Their clean up was meticulous. The feeding was performed a couple of days later. They even fed the shrubs in the front yard while they were at it. All work was done within the quoted estimate. J Davis is the only tree service I have ever used but I see no reason to change because they are thorough, professional, courteous and efficient and on time.

They're fantastic. They're on time. They do the work that they say they say they're going to do for a reasonable price. They are extremely polite.

Very courteous, timely, polite, professional and knowledgeable. Came out and did an estimate which did not change. They did the work very quickly and cleaned up yard before leaving. The cost while appearing high was reasonable for the sheer amount of work done. Another arborist/tree service gave a quote that was $1100 higher for the same work. Would highly recommend J Davis.

The arborist, Keith Glenn, was extremely professional and easy to talk to. After an explanation of what they could do, he was quick to get his team to work. Within minutes, all of the work was complete and perfectly clean. Keith checked in before leaving to ensure satisfaction - and my family and I were excited! Not only can I trust their certified arborist's approach to long-term tree health, the results from this talented crew's work look great! Instead of overgrown trees with branches to the ground, I have beautiful shade trees again! In about 15 minutes, the family and I will be sitting under one of them enjoying the shade and some southern sweet tea. I cannot thank J Davis Tree Care enough!

They do an excellent job and they cleaned up immaculately. They're just extremely consistent, it's like a family owned company, his son is the one that comes out and give you the estimate and he explains everything to me.

Have used J Davis for years and love them, trust them especially their arborist, Mr.Keith. They saved our live oak that was badly damaged after the ice storm/s about 4 years ago. And after this past fall trimming the oak did not lose even a tiny branch with all the bad weather we had this past winter. They are not the cheapest service, but for my money they are one of the best & everything I want in a contractor!

We have gotten a couple of pick-up loads of mulch from J Davis in the past, the second time; we should have seen the red flag. Our third truck load, we called Friday about picking mulch up on Monday morning. We explained on Friday that it takes us an hour to get there, could we be there at 8 am to pick up mulch Monday morning. We were told to call at 8 am. We called at 8 am Monday morning and got an answering machine. At 8:30 a woman returned our call and asked if we could be there by 9 am, which we replied no, as we had already said to her, it takes us an hour to get there. So we agreed to a 1 pm appointment. We were there at 12:50, went inside, paid and told the woman we would be waiting at the mulch pile. At 1:15 we called and ask where the loader was, and only then was told that he was in Arlington and wouldn't be back for at least another hour. At this point, we went back to the office, ask for our money back, and left. I went so far as going to the J Davis website, and on the contact page, sent an e-mail for either Justin or Billy to contact us about this problem. The next day, one of the office personnel called and asked if she could be of assistance. I told her I had sent the e-mail asking for either of these men to contact us, and we are still waiting, two weeks later. . . Our family has used their tree service many times in the past and is happy with their work, but trying to purchase mulch is a nightmare. If they don’t want to sell mulch to customers that will come and pick it up, they should say so, and not string us along. There is a sign on the wall in their office about the customer is the most important part of a business. They should read the framed information every once in a while.

J Davis' crew did a great job! We have a massive Water Oak in the back yard that dwarfs the Pecan tree near it. The Pecan tree has not produced any crops for several years. So I had it removed. We have not been able to have a good lawn in the front yard because the overgrown Crape Myrtles completely block out the morning sun. Those where cut off at ground level so that we can control how high they grow in the future. It was time to raise the crown and trim the Pecan tree in the front yard to allow more sunlight in the afternoon. All of the work was done exactly as we requested it to be. The workers we friendly, professional and competent . Grade - A+. We will defintely continue to use J Davis Tree Care solutions for all of our tree work.

Billy called me back promptly to schedule the appointment for the estimate. He arrived on time, and was very professional. The estimate was provided just before Christmas, and Billy explained the company was shutting down for the holidays, good way to manage customer expectations. That worked out well for me. After making the decision to use J Davis, I called Billy to let him know. He called back as promised, and scheduled the work. The crew arrived as promised, and did a great job. I have used J Davis in the past, and will continue to use them in the future :)

My yard was cleaner after they left than when they arrived!!! They are professional and they work as fast as they can and still be safe. The price isn't the lowest....high I would say, but I get a knowledgable certified arborist out to look at my trees and tell me the truth about what I need. Glen has actually told me he wouldn''t do a thing. Other times, I need a tree trimming. I like that he's straight with me. They have trimmed my trees, deep root fertilized and responded to repair after storms. I've used them many tiimes. They are insured and I trust them.
