 + -1 moreResponsive when we called on Friday evening. THey came out on Monday evening. I was happy they could get to us so quickly. i had already called another company who had never returned my call! They were knowledgeable about our options. I told them i needed a way to get into my garage when the electricity went out so they suggested a opener with a battery backup. THey said they would have that opener in stock on Monday. It was more expensive than the replacement we had planned to get but better than other options. They were a little later than we expected so we called them to check and make sure they were still coming. They called back and came within the timeframe they said they would. They were very helpful, professional and knowledgeable. They programmed the universal remotes we already had. Two people did the installation and explained the warranty.
Description of Work: Replaced garage door opener that was not working. Also replaced springs and rollers and replaced chain with a belt and got tuneup. Got a new universal remote.

 + -1 moreThe tech came in and removed the old broken springs and replaced with new workable parts. As our garage doors is the main entry to our home this was very important that we get it done fast and right. We were not disappointed.
Description of Work: We had the representative out to replace the broken springs on our very heavy garage door. He was patient and explained the steps to all of us and even discussed some of the problems that can occur with incorrect installation. We were very impressed and would use them again!

 + -1 moreCalled to make an appointment to replace the garage door opener on house we were selling. Fast answer to phone, scheduled an appointment for the upcoming Saturday. They arrived on time, did a fast, excellent job, and even did some extra door reinforcing at no charge, as well as provided a more expensive wireless wall controller vs. the cheaper wired one inside the garage, at the price of the wired one. Will be replacing the old garage door and door opener on the new house we bought later this year, and Family Christian Doors is who I will be calling.

Now that's impressive! However, we could not fix the problem, called back, and arranged for a tech to come. The young man was prompt, courteous, efficient. Good company!
Description of Work: The tech replaced the two safety lights at the base of the door frame. He also did a check-up of all equipment and serviced everything.

He explained every step on what he was doing as he fixed it and why and how to do maintenance on tracks, door, rollers, etc. He put in the keypad and walked through step by step how to reset it in case. He was was efficient and knowledgeable and did not try to sell me anything I didn't need to fix it which is very much appreciated since I am on a very tight budget. Jason is one of those who you can tell enjoys what he does and it shows. Excellent work. WIll highly recommend this company to others.

 + -1 moreOur garage door came off track and literally fell apart on a Friday night. I called them at 8:30a on Saturday morning, they had a guy come out and assess the situation, gave me a quote, and by 8pm that night it was all replaced. What I really liked about FCD was their communication throughout the process. Up front they gave me an estimate on both the cost of repairing vs replacing and told me the pros and cons of each option. Once I decided to replace the door, they told me exactly what they would be doing, and when the installers would be there. There was a delay with another install during theday and the supervisor called me to let me know they were running behind. The guys that did the install were completely professional and got the job done in less than the time they said they would need. I was very pleased with the experience.

 + 0 moreI had to learn that a permit had to be obtain to do work, and their busy work schedule. one should no upfront. Which was about 10 to12 business days before work could be started.. When they arrived , job was completed within 3 or 4 hours. Very fast. Beautiful finish., but the price paid very expensive. Time will tell, whether it was good investment. LOOKS GOOD THOUGH.
Description of Work: Board on board 8 foot fence alongs side of house, with 6 foot gate front entrance; About 62 feet in length for whole job. Wood panels were very thin. I believe they were cedar, and was told because they will not warp. compare to pine. But pine is thicker and stronger by the looks of it, from my other side of house (neighbors). And because they are so thin, I believe if you do not stain, they will eventually split or crack . They say they will give one year warranty if damage.

 + -1 moreMy garage door finally gave out in the middle of closing when I got home late from work. It was around 7:30 in the evening. We had called this company before when we had a minor issue with our door and got great service so I called them again. They came out to the house at 9:30 the same night so we wouldn't be stuck with an unsecured garage. They set about determining the problem and fixing it. They also found some other issues with the door as it is quite old and recommended options to permanently correct all of the problems. They were reasonable, explained al of the options and the pricing up front and let me decide the best course of action for our family and our checkbook. They finished the project at 11:15pm and never complained. They were extremely professional and attentive to the task at hand. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone who can use their services!

 + -1 moreWe enjoyed the service but noticed a few things after the tech left. One, they do not install lightbulbs in the new $350 openers. I remedied this at Lowe's for $4, but we actually called and were told they do not install them. They did not, however, have a problem removing our old unit which included lightbulbs. A silly thing that is definitely not worth frustrating a customer who shelled out $720. Also, we noticed that one opener has three buttons while the other button has one. I am not sure I understand the difference. We do have two garage doors so having the multiple buttons in the future would be helpful. Currently the other garage door is a different brand and not compatible. Strange, nonetheless. When the tech was here, the door was very quiet, but within days we noticed loud knocking sounds with each opening/closing. He did recommend replacing the whole door, which we did not do, but I'm not sure where the noise is coming from. FCD was professional and courteous and we would definitely use them again. I would encourage them to tack on the $4 for bulbs. I'm sure any customer would pay it, especially when it's pitch black in the garage and they are tripping over a ladder while carrying an infant....
Description of Work: FCD was called when we discovered two days before moving in our house that our garage door was so loud that the floors actually vibrated upstairs...which is the baby's room. They came out the very next day and worked with us to develop a solution. Initially they suggested a total overhaul with new doors for about 3k, but when we said that we couldn't do that, they did a tune-up/roller replacement and garage door opener replacement in one of the bays. The tech was knowledgeable and friendly and did a great job. Upon completion, he left the extra opener dangling on the rope which proceeded to become covered in oil. It wiped off, but probably not the best location. We really appreciated their responsiveness and ability to make our door quiet enough that we are able to open the garage door while the baby sleeps (with a loud fan in her room as well).

 + -1 moreThe installation went well, especially due to the problem later encountered that required an adjustment which the company promptly performed at no cost and even was honest enough to explain that a new trainee who had performed the installation had forgotten to take a particular measure to prevent the problem (which resulted in some noise), which Family Christian made good on. I would recommend this company to anyone. Particularly because of their integrity with having demonstrated how they resolved a problem.
Description of Work: My parents called to ask if I could look up a garage door company on Angies List in their area, Ft. Worth, TX (N Richland Hills). I consulted Angie's List and found that I needed to add the D/FW area to my subscription and I immediately did so. Family Christian Doors was selected and my parents could not have been happier with their service, promptness, work ethic, etc. A new garage door installation was needed for the double door side of their garage.

They were very helpful and answered any questions I had and helped me decide exactly what door was right for us. They were friendly, professional and excellent quality of work. We decided to upgrade from our current doors and, oh the difference it makes in curb appeal! Our doors are the talk of the neighboorhood! Will definately refer Family Christian to friends and will use them again for any of my garage door needs. After dealing with several different contractors for different hail repairs on our house, Family Christian was the fastest, most helpful and most pleasant to work with. A+++!!!

Description of Work: Ordered the special 31/2 HP belt driven garage door opener, with two remotes and an external entry keypad for the outside, for $349. Jason McCann, with Family Christian Doors showed up on time and with the requested opener. Was surprised that this can be a one man job, but Jason assured me if needed he could completely disassemble and rebuild a complete garage door if needed. Told me it would be about an hour, so I just left it to him and went back inside. About 45 minutes later, went back to the garage and the new opener was about complete, but I threw a monkey wrench into the project when I inquired about the loud squeak of the rollers my door had been making, and Jason showed me how the old rollers were just one piece, no bearings, rollers who become locked with age and just slide down the side rails instead of rolling. I then ordered the new replacement rollers which are lifetime guarantee, and have complete bearings with a very smooth and quiet operation after Jason took the extra time to install, even though I had not indicated I wanted those at the start. Jason is a very interesting young man who shared his military experiences with me while he worked and I watched, and impressed me with his love of family and recognition of the Lord in his life. Jason also filled me in on the keychain opener I could get which keeps me from having to leave an opener in the car for someone to break into and grab, giving them an opening to the house through the garage.

 + -1 moreThe door is only 8 years old and was only approx $700 to begin with.... it came off the track at the top on one track and the bottom on the other. It has been noisy and it's been shakey. There were 2 young men sent and one did most of the talking. It was immediately noted that new tension cables were needed, showing me the damaged one that I knew already had come off the spool. The back and forth on the pricing felt like negotiatiing on a new car with confusing pricing...not a feeling that I like. The quieter man suggested new rollers and was correct that they were >much< more quiet than before and that we should have been applying white lithium lubricant to the rollers and tension springs all along. The door now works wonderfully, took about an hour or so.. but was much more expensive than I'd imagined. They said the company would pay the tax.. which I don't think is right. Do ask for >written< estimate. His delivery was hard to follow... but he was polite. DO ask to keep your parts.. it is a state law that they must.. I could have recycled the springs etc... lot of metal.. just sayin'. I would seek out more estimates in future. I needed this done quickly and that contributed to my haste.
