After submitting for service on the HomeAdvisor website, I was contacted by 3 contractors. The issue at hand was a broken spring on our double garage door. I received 3 calls within 3 minutes of hitting submit. Each were very friendly, cost were quoted over the phone. Ultimately I went with Family Christian Doors (FCD), they had the lowest price and I was impressed with their website and online reviews. They were out the next day, on time. Project was completed quickly. I paid a little more than what was quoted ($40) due to a piece that needed to be replaced because we allowed the door to work under stress for months before we released one of the springs were broken. The FCD experience was great.

I called and set an appointment between 10am - 12 noon. I called them at 11:45am to get an ETA and they did not have one and had to call me back. Called back in 10 minutes later and told be that a tech would be coming from Mansfield (to my location in Irving). Needless to say they were very late, but the tech gave me $50 off the repair. They do not give estimates until the tech arrives which I do not understand. Being in the service industry myself, it it not that difficult to provide an "estimate" so the buyer can adjust finances to ensure that we can pay for the service. Once the tech got here, he was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with; but the prices were a little expensive I thought, the trade off I guess is the "lifetime warranty" on the parts used. After I told the tech that the $388 dollars for a broken door spring repair was steep and that's with $50 off, he then proceeded to show me a platinum type package and the price was $450 + dollars! I stated very kindly that if I thought $388 was high, why on earth would I want something more expensive, Anyway, I felt I needed to complete this project because the tech was already there and he came a long distance and their name invokes the thought that they are a Christian based company. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have shopped around; after all it was one spring broken. Though I would recommend them based on knowledge and quality of work, I bet if you shopped a little you can find a better price or at least a company would can provide an estimate for repairs; it's a garage door, not a car and there is only so much wrong and I provided detailed information on the issue.

My garage door would not open and there wasn't an additional access door to the garage. The very courteous serviceman, Eric, worked diligently to gain access. My garage door opener had to be replaced and a new bar installed. Eric worked quickly and efficiently to resolve the issues. He gave me maintenance tips on my garage door. I will ALWAYS USE THIS COMPANY AND REFER THEM TO OTHERS. THANK YOU, ERIC!!!

The repairman was polite, offered suggestions about future maintenance needs which I found very helpful.

Getting your garage door repaired is expensive. I rated their value as "good" but might have shopped around A LOT before shelling out what it cost me. I just don't keep that amount of money on hand.

They replaced two garage doors, a double and a single. They were on time, completed the work in a reasonable length of time and very efficiently. There was one small hitch -- two days after installation, one of the doors stopped working. I called for service and they came out the following day. One of the wires to the opener had separated so it wasn't making contact. It was replaced quickly and both doors are working well now.
