Talked to this company on the phone where they promised to call me back with more information. They sounded like they would be happy to help us find a remnant to complete an 18 square foot (just over 7 ft long) bathroom vanity in granite. (ie. so we would not have to buy a whole slab of granite when only needing about 1/3 of a slab) I never heard back from them, even after leaving several messages. I just wish they would have had the courtesy to call and let me know that they either didn't want to do this 'small' of a job or that they didn't have what I was looking for.

The level of customer service John and Aaron provided was superb and they did what they said they were going to do, from beginning to end. My wife and I met John on several occasions at their shop to look at, and eventually decide on the granite we would use. Both occasions were on Saturday, and we were never rushed. John was always very helpful. We were also impressed with Junior, the person who did the install. His workmanship was high quality and his level of detail was also very good. He's been with the company for 7 - 8 years, which is extraordinary in this line of business. They did a great job!

John was instrumental in helping me with coordinating and choosing a granite slab style and backsplash that complimented the motif that I was going for. The install was complicated by the original layout of the old cabinetry for which John came up with a economical fix that not only worked, but looks great! Truly, a value-added experience.

Our initial impression was positive when the owner came to measure for the estimate for the kitchen countertop/backsplash and the master bathroom project. We wanted an estimate for two different types of granite. A few days later on February 21st, we received an estimate for the kitchen, but one of the granite types was incorrect. That kitchen estimate was corrected a couple days later. (We never did receive an estimate for the master bathroom project even though I sent a reminder one month after it was measured.) We replied on March 4th to say we wanted to go ahead with the kitchen estimate and install near the end of the week of the 26th. There was no reply. After sending another email, we finally received a reply 2 weeks later on March 17th and they said that installation time should be okay. Unfortunately, they forgot to order the sink and then its delivery was delayed. Our installation didn't happen until April 3rd. We really like the granite itself on our countertops as well as the extra cut pieces for our tables. However, there were two installation details we did not like. 1. The granite piece on top of the bar does not reach the edge of the backsplash tile. It should be horizontally aligned with the edge of the tile like the old bar top so that there isn't a gap there. 2. The vertical granite piece above the faucet was cut too short. It should at least extend to the edge of the bar wall or even 1/4 or 1/2 inch further out. As it is now, the granite ends and then the bar wall sticks out just past the edge of the granite. When I emailed the details, they replied, but basically dismissed the items. I sent pictures and additional explanation, but never received any further response. In the end, we did our own homemade patching to try to make those items look a little less noticeable.
Description of Work: We asked for an estimate to replace our kitchen countertops/backsplash and to renovate our master bathroom's shower and tile. In the end, we replaced our old kitchen countertops with granite countertops, but kept our old backsplash. Also, since there was extra granite from the slabs, they cut granite tops for our coffee table, sofa table, and two end tables.

Response from Platinum Granite
Our first response to a customer wanting to save an existing splash and try to retrofit granite into the same space is to inform them that there may be issues. We explain what may happen by saving the splash and always recommend changing the splash at the same time to avoid any issues as this happens in many cases and did happen on this project. The new granite being only 3 cm.(1 3/16") making it thinner than the original formica that was only 1 1/2" thick. For that reason the new granite would not reach the existing backsplash. If we raised up the granite to meet the old splash there would be a problem under the slabs creating a large gap under the stone. When a customer asks to save the existing splash there is always an issue somewhere. Formica tops are very seldom level and always thicker or thinner than the stone. When the original formica is installed it is never as level as a properly installed granite top. If we save the splash we have to install it level or not to meet the tile as best we can. Granite does not bend and formica does which makes it impossible to create a smooth flush seam on a countertop that is out of level. For this reason, we always recommend changing a backsplash at the same time granite countertops are installed.

I hired Platinum Granite to purchase and install my porcelain tile, stacked slate fireplace hearth and surround and then install my supplied wood flooring. John, the owner, was punctual for his appointments for reviewng the job and supplying the estimate. After supplying the 50% down, it was a bit difficult at times to get a hold of him. On the Friday before the job started, I was able to get a hold of him and confirm, again, work would start on the 11th. I was given the employee's name, Jim, and told he would be there promptly Monday morning. Jim and his 2 helpers were there Monday morning, promptly. As I was reviewing what was to be done I realized Jim was not given details of my job. Thankfully I had all the information he needed, but I was distressed to learn that John didn't give him details and John would deliver the tile later that day. As I was under a strick timeline this was a concern. Jim and his team did an OUTSTANDING job on my floors and fireplace. Jim paid such attention to detail, limited the amount of waste of wood flooring and tile, and cleaned up the area EVERY NIGHT! The gentlemen were such a pleasure to be around that they made the stress of a remodel on a tight schedule go away. I am thankful Jim and his team were exceptional as I try to never hire a company that use subcontractors. I've had problem with subcontractors in the past, so I usually don't hire companies that subcontract out. It's been more than a month now with my new floors and I am so pleased.
Description of Work: I had the foyer, kitchen, laundry room and 2nd bath retiled with porcelain tile. The living room/dining room, hall way and two bedrooms were floored with engineerd wood that I supplied. The fireplace surround was done in stacked slate tile and the hearth was made of that stone and porcelain tile.

I started looking at slabs on a Saturday and even though I had not committed to use Platinum Granite I called Aaron several times (on his cell phone which he had given me on our first conversation) to talk about what I was finding and ask more questions. Turns out it was his birthday and he still took my calls, ALL of them, and there were several. I was impressed at each of the 3 granite houses that I visited when they asked who I was working with and I told them Platinum Granite. Their first words were always something to the effect of - and quot;...that's great. You're going to love working with Aaron and his dadand quot;. I took that as a good sign and decided that day to give the job to Platinum Granite. Turns out the slab I picked (Gran Delicatus/Kodiak) can be difficult to work with. I have since learned that this stone is fragile to handle and transport due to the natural fisures in it and that some installers do not like to work with it (but once it's installed it's very stable). There are chunks of mica throughout and some smokey and white quarts that sparkles in the light. I have never seen anything like it! Aaron did not hesitation to work with this stone. Platinum Granite simply did the job and when I called and inquired about some 'rough spots' on the surface he completely explanined the nature of the stone and it's natural imperfections - but still sent someone out to smooth out any areas where I felt it wasn't right. The expert he sent stayed at my home until I was completely satisfied. Now that's good customer service! Platinum Granite also installed my tumbled marble backsplash and his guys did a great job. I highly recommend them! My counters are so gorgous that I must now replace my cabinets and floor! I'll post pictures of Platinum Granites work when everything is done.
Description of Work: Platinum Granite installed our new granite counter tops and tumbled marble backsplash. From the begining they were very responsive. They answered/returned calls promply. Aaron spent a great deal of time with me on the first call explaining the process and answering all my questions. Aaron's dad (John, I think) came out prompty to measure the job and provide us with an estimate. There was no pressure during the visit and my husband told me later that he liked John right away. We got about 5 other estimates as well.
