Cleanup was ok and when I inspected the lights they replace one had a wire showing that I ask them to fix when presented the bill. They charge by the hour but I knew that, so I made sure my time was available for all their questions and I had opened all packaging of the lights to save time and thus money
Description of Work: They replace four lights in closets with fixtures that I purchased. I was scheduled for first call of the day which was 8:30am and they arrived at 8:45am. I used this company once before and was pleased with their workmanship and would use them again. I also had them a circuit to see why it would sometimes kick off, and they advised to move the Microwave to another outlet in the kitchen to prevent that in the future. I also had them check switches in the garage which they advised were still in great working order so no replacement needed.

They came recommended by a friend, and I think they're very good. I've recommended them to a number of people, who have in turn recommended them to others. They're very punctual and clean up after themselves well. They're professional, reasonable, and knowledgeable. They do not do work that doesn't need to be done. They don't upscale you.
Description of Work: They came out a number of times for toilet-related jobs.

This turned out to be a 2.5 day job that entailed replacement of a section of underground conduit, replacement of many exterior plug units, as well as minor system repairs.

The person on the phone was very nice and asked a number of questions, I assumed were so the electrician would be ready. She asked if I wanted the dryer plug replaced or the outlet replaced. I said it didn't matter, but she made me choose one. I chose the plug. The appt. was scheduled. The electrician showed up and I showed him the dryer and explained what I wanted don and that the decision was to replace the outlet. His reaction was "Nope, cant be done" I explained that the person on the phone said it could be and he said she was just an operator and dint know about such things. He said if I really wanted him to, he could go to home depot and get a new cord and replace the one on the dryer. It was obvious he didn't want to so I said never mind. I then said I wanted a bid to replace outlets with 3 prong, to which I was told "nope, cant be done" I questioned that and was told it coupled only be done with extra work and wires would need to be run, etc. I explained that was why I wanted an estimate. I just received a blank stare. I thanked him for coming out and escorted him out. I called the company to make sure that I would not receive any kind of bill for his time and explained the situation. I was told I would get a call back immediately. It took a while, but I got a call and they wanted to discuss the issue. I said that I had no interest in a discussion and just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be billed. They said I would not but proceeded to make sure I understood why the electrician was correct and explained that my requests were not possible. I don't doubt that there was a simple miscommunication between me and the electrician. It just seems that it isn't good practice for the initial response to be "Nope, can't be done." I have since called another electrician who walked me through changing the dryer plug and have yet to get an estimate on upgrading the outlets.
Description of Work: I had just moved into a new home and the plug on my dryer was not compatible with the outlet. I also have some outdated outlets that I wanted to get a cost on updating/replacing. I had used them years ago and really liked them.

I have used this company for residential work (ceiling fan installation, fixture installation, wall switch replacement, etc.) on probably three or four previous occasions. This work was always satisfactory, and I wanted to use them again even though when I called it appeared I was no longer reaching a local office as before. I called Monday afternoon for an appointment. I was offered a Tuesday afternoon appointment, which I asked to take. I was told I would be called Tuesday before the electrician came out to confirm that someone would be home. The company called Tuesday morning at 9:50 a.m. and left a message saying they wanted to send a technician over, and told me that if I did not call back the appointment would have to be rescheduled. At 10:00 a.m. I called the return number (a Dallas number, not the Fort Worth number I had called to schedule the appointment) and the person who took my call did not know anything about the matter, and asked me for the name of the person who had called me. The message did not contain a name and we had to speculate as to who it was. She said she would e-mail the person she thought it was and ask him to call me. I received a call about twenty minutes later from the person who had left the message and was told that the technician had now gone out on another call and they would get to me later in the afternoon, with no time predicted. I asked to cancel the call, and the company representative said he would.
Description of Work: I called for non-emergency, residential electrical work.

I chose this company because of their ratings on Angie's List. I liked that they showed up when they were going to. They cleaned up after themselves. They were very professional.

Ron arrived on time and finished the work in 22 mins. He was thorough and explained what he did and how he did it. He removed the outlet and disabled power to the location. He also checked that no other outlet in that room had lost power after he was done. He is certainly good at what he does. I thought they were a little bit more expensive than others given that we paid $129 for about half hours work. This company could do better on price. They are good on quality.
Description of Work: We had a floor non-functional outlet removed and power to it disabled.

It was expensive, but it was on a Saturday. He was very prompt. His work was good and he did what I expected for Saturday emergency service. He offered to come back and do more work for me, but I thought his price as too much so I passed. He also commented on a chandelier that I had and said it would not provide the light we needed and it might not be the safest, and also commented and said he thought it was ugly. He could have been more tactful but he was extremely helpful, caring, and thoughtful in terms of safety and professionalism.
Description of Work: He discovered which of my fire alarms was chirping, took it down, replaced the battery. I had another one which was defective and replaced it. This new fire alarm is more user friendly. Re-installed an alarm system which a friend had uninstalled before we knew the fire alarm was the problem.

The electrician was professional, explaining what he was doing and why. He replaced only what needed replacing, did not replace outlets or fan as they did not need replacing.
Description of Work: Replaced porch light and outlet. Did some troubleshooting on a ceiling fan and removed the remote mechanism so it would not need to be replaced.

When they came to check out the problem, they did a thorough inspection of everything. There was a few things that they could not fix but they were every honest about it and told me instead of attempting to do the job and charge me for it. What they could not do, they referred me to someone and I thought to be very professional. They all very nice, courteous, and I think it is good place of business.

I called McBride at 11am on Friday to confirm that they were still coming, and was told that someone was finishing up a job and would be headed to my house shortly. They had no record of a 10:30-12:30 window for the work. I called back at 1:30 and was told that they would get the electrician on the radio, find out where he was and call me back. They called back approximately 1 hour later and said he would be there in 20 minutes. I complained that this was far outside the window I was promised, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to deal with McBride anymore. They offered me a 10% discount (which I usually receive anyway as a repeat customer), but I was not satisfied with that. I asked for a 20% discount to keep my business. They called back 15 minutes later and said that a 20% discount was not available. I told them to not bother coming to my house and that after using the last 5 times I needed an electrician, I would not use them again.
Description of Work: I made an appointment to have an electrician move an outside electrical outlet. The appointment was made for the coming Thursday, but they could not give me a specific time or window. At approximately noon on Thursday, McBride's representative called to tell me that they would not be able come and asked if they may reschedule for Friday. I agreed but asked that they give me a window of 10:30-12:30 for the appointment. They agreed to do this. This is the 2nd time McBride has called on the day of an appointment and asked to reschedule. The previous time I also asked for a specific time window and when the electrician showed up 3 hours later than that specified window. He did not even know about it.

BEWARE IF YOU SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THIS COMPANY, BECAUSE THEY WILL LIKELY NOT SHOW UP AND NOT CALL TO TELL YOU THAT THEY ARE RUNNING LATE. IN MY CASE, 2 1/2 HOURS HAD PASSED AND NO ONE FROM MCBRIDE CALLED TO TELL ME WHY THEY HAD NOT ARRIVED. I SUGGEST THAT YOU FIND ANOTHER ELECTRICAL REPAIR COMPANY, BECAUSE YOUR TIME IS TOO VALUABLE TO WAIT TO SEE IF THEY SHOW UP OR NOT.
Description of Work: I HIRED MCBRIDE ELECTRIC A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO TO COME OUT AND TROUBLESHOOT A POWER PROBLEM WITH A LIGHT FIXTURE THAT KEPT SHORTING OUT THE FUSE BOX. THEY CAME OUT ON OVERTIME HOURS AND MADE A QUICK FIX. THEN I CALLED A FEW WEEKS LATER TO SCHEDULE THEM TO COME OUT ON REGULAR HOURS TO FIX AN OUTSIDE PLUG AND DO AN ASSESSMENT OF MY OVERALL CABLING SITUATION (SINCE I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS POWER PROBLEMS). I HAD A NOON APPOINTMENT WITH MCBRIDE ON A FRIDAY. THEY DID NOT SHOW UP, AND I CALLED AT 2:30 PM TO ASK WHY NO ONE CAME. THE GUY AT THE OFFICE SAID THAT THEY WERE VERY BOOKED AND HAD NO IDEA WHAT TIME SOMEONE WOULD COME OUT. I TOLD HIM TO CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT AND HE OFFERED ME A 10 PERCENT DISCOUNT IF I WOULDN'T CANCEL. I REFUSED BECAUSE HE STILL COULD GIVE ME NO IDEA WHAT TIME A TECHNICIAN WOULD SHOW UP.
