+ -1 moreKevin Higgins came out to survey the property and take measurements. We discussed the type of fencing I wanted, how I wanted it constructed. He asked questions and offered several different options. Once we agreed on the price, construction began 2 days later. Everything was completed and cleaned up 3 days later. His crew worked expeditiously and cleaned up as they went along. They always were polite and professional. The crew even cleaned out some brush that I did not expect them to do. I had several bids before I chose DFW and while they were not the lowest priced they showed some of the best quality construction that I witnessed before purchasing. Kevin guarantees satisfaction and he lives up to his word.
Description of Work: Remove and haul-off old fencing, replace wooden fence posts with metal, and install 200' of cedar fencing, with 3- 2X4 backrails, 2X6 kickboard and one walk in gate.

+ -1 moreWe had a very narrow location to place a shed. In order to maximize our shed, it need to be built in an odd foot with. Kevin was able to design a 5 food by 10' shed that met the requirement of not being higher than the carport. Kevin visited our home three times. 1st to look at the location and work up a bid on site. He provided photographs similar sheds so that we could provide them to the HOA. Once we had approval from the HOA, we were able to schedule the construction on site within a week. Kevin came out again to go over the speciation again and pick up the first draw (50%) The construction went as planned. We did run into a problem with the painter. However it was quickly corrected. This is the reason that he did not receive an A for promptness. We are very pleased with the finished product.

The work is stellar and final outcome looks wonderful. All the neighbors have commented postivitly on the work. The fence looks fantastic and will use them in the future as my primary fence company.

+ -1 moreI contacted Kevin through the website and the next day I had a response from him. He came over on a Saturday and looked at where we wanted to put it. His price was only about $200 dollars more than what Lowes quote was to me for an installed painted shed. To me it was a no brainer with the steel base, steel door frame, and it being custom built on site. I decided on Sunday to do it and his crew installed it on that Tuesday. The crew had it up quickly. It looks good and is very functional. The night after it was up we had a bad storm and there were no leaks and everything has held up well so far. I would definitely recommend DFW Shed and Fence.

+ -1 moreI needed a typical garden shed to store lawn equipment, etc... Kevin Higgins was very helpful throughout the process. In summary: - After my initial contact and discussion, Kevin provided me with the names and phone numbers of previous customers that had agreed to use their shed as a "model." (DFW shed does not have a showroom). - When I decided to go with DFW shed, Kevin came to my house and we discussed location, size, and other options (e.g. # of windows). He had very helpful suggestions and was patient with me and my (very picky) wife. In addition, I live in a historic district and had certain restrictions on the building. - We ended up making some minor customizations from their "standard" build at no extra charge. - The shed was constructed in a few hours on the day (and time) scheduled. - Painting (did require extra charge) occurred the next day, but (due to the weather) required a return trip from the painter. - I had one minor issue with a hinge on the steel door frame (these are not constructed by DFW Shed and are purchased from a third-party). Kevin quickly dispatched someone to fix the hinge as soon as the issue was identified. (and re-painted the affected area) Additionally, he has followed up to make sure everything is working well. It is. Overall - My experience was great. DFW Shed isn't the cheapest shed, but I couldn't find anything that matched quality. I needed something secure and made from quality materials.

+ -1 moreThey build a custom, quality product at a reasonable price. Kevin was really nice to work with and I appreciated his knowledge on building quality sheds. I would use his team over Tuff Shed everyday and twice on Sunday. I spent some time doing my research and making sure I was going with the right shed company. I looked at two other sheds on-site that they had built months prior and both home owners were very satisfied and the sheds were of fantastic quality. I ended up satisfied as well. Concrete Slab They dug out and framed the concrete slab with care. They used multiple piers to add extra strength and I believe they went above and beyond to make sure a good foundation was in place for the shed. They really did an excellent job on the concrete and I was impressed with their work. Kevin's team did exactly as he told me they would before they started. Shed His team did an excellent job building the shed. They took their time on construction and the material used was as expected and exactly like it was stated on their website. When I talked with other shed companies, I really felt like I was just a number and not a customer. With Kevin, you get a custom shed experience and you also work with a professional that knows everything about his product as well as his competitors. You know he wants to build something that will last and the final result clearly represented that mission. It also looked very nice in the backyard and we have received compliments from neighbors on how well it was built. This shed is going to be there for a long, long time. Why did I give them a "B" in responsiveness and punctuality? His concrete guys came later than scheduled and I was not given a heads up so I was left wondering when they would arrive. They arrived around 10am instead of 8:30am, which is not a huge deal, but I waited around before going to work because I expected them earlier. Also, there was a very minor adjustment that they needed to make on one of the vents and I did not feel like I got "A" customer service on this concern. Overall though, I definitely recommend them and I would use them again.

+ -1 moreVery responsive and patient through an extended wait period while we obtained necessary county permit. Work begun on 6-27-2012 and completed on 6-30-2012. All tradesmen involved worked in a focused, efficient manner in hideous heat which at times exceeded 100 degrees. Extremely well constructed with the steel foundation and steel door frame. The steel framing was main reason we chose DFW Shed & Fence Co. over anything else. Went out of their way to obtain the color of roofing shingle we desired, which closely resembles roofing on existing shed. We are completely satisfied with the quality of construction materials and quality of workmanship. They did a nice job cleaning up the yard as well. We did receive the 5% discount offered for being Angies List members. If you need a barn/shed like this, do not hesitate to contact Kevin, Liz, Leo and Antonio at DFW Shed and Fence Co. They did a wonderful job for us and we are so pleased to have the additional storage this building will give us. THANKS DFW Shed & Fence Co.

+ -1 moreDFW Shed and Fence company did a great job from start to finish. I found them on Angie's list and placed a call on a Wednesday afternoon to their owner Kevin. He was happy to meet me that Saturday to give me an estimate and discuss placement options. The builder's permit was in place by the following Tuesday and the Shed was built a week and a half later on Friday. Talk about fast service! I'd like to tell you how the workers did, but I wasn't there for the process. They hadn't started yet when I left at 8:30 but were done and gone by the time my wife came home at 4:00. It was like magic! I thought corners might have been cut but I thoroughly checked out the shed, it was level and solidly built through and through. Yard was clean with no sign of trash or anything. I couldn't be happier with this company. Great experience.

+ -1 moreThey did a really good job. They clean up was pretty good but they used nail guns and left strips behind, which was somewhat of an issue with my small dogs. Otherwise, everything turned out very well. There was an issue were the door lock wasn't reaching and they came out immediately and fixed it. They had great follow up when we had that time issue.We haven't had any issues since.

+ -1 moreThe crew did a great job with the demolition and hauled off everything. my yard was spotless. They started construction on the new shed but had to stop mid-afternoon because of the tornados. The walls were up, and everything remained standing throughout all the storms. Quality construction! They put the roof and doors on the next day, and the shed looks great. very strong and sturdy.

+ -1 moreDFW Shed and Fence built a custom shop to my specifications on my property. The owner was friendly, professional, and responsive. I had several requests about insulation, doors, etc, that were off the "standard menu", he quickly and fairly was able to come up with a good quote. The crews show up on time and took the time to properly overcome challenges as they arose. The building was completed in one weekend with good quality. One of the guys made an extra trip to correct some small items and make sure that I was satisfied. If I ever need another shop built, DFW Shed is who I'll use.

+ -1 morecontract between dfw shed & fence co. was to replace the 6' fence an all 3 sides with an 8' fence board on board with trim, corbels and trim work for enhancing. steel posts were 3' apart dug 2.5 to 3 feet deep for strength. total new fence would be 270 linear feet.. grade a cedar was to be used all the way. in short everything top notch. my project has nothing to do with sheds. only fencing.
Description of Work: kevin, the owner of dfw shed & fence co. gave a fair bid in par with the 2 more bids i took. i went with dfw shed & fence co. because kevin did put in a lot of time into the bidding. he was very enthusiastic about the project and really wanted it. i signed the contract 12-01-11 and about 61% was labor cost, which needed to be given upfront. though his contract clearly states various choices by which we can pay the deposit (cash, check, credit cards) it does not state anywhere that is an extra charge to pay via credit cards. i did not feel comfortable writing a check for $9,500 plus so i agreed to pay with my master card and agreed to pay his credit card fees. i did this to protect myself. this cost me an extra $280.00 dollars in the end. first load of materials arrived on time on a monday, all the old fence was taken down and we met the lead man leo. but after that first monday this project went down hill. kevin never showed up, lead man leo never showed up and there was total lack of any supervision. my e-mails were responded to by a different kevin who insisted he did not need to micro manage his crew and that his crew knew what to do. his crew never showed up on time. came/went as they found time and there was no schedule anyone followed. we did have 2 days of rain and that is all the delay because of mother nature. on the good days, lot of time was lost as the 2 or 3 men would show up late, take long lunches and stood around and talked. i took pictures to show kevin how his small crew worked. i was paying a guy to supervise this project on my own. that cost me a lot more than i had put aside for an extra pair of eyes to help me with this fairly large project. bottom line i had to give kevin an ultimatum finally. he had labor issues within his co. between his lead guy leo and himself. this inner conflict within dfw shed & fence co. and his lead man leo almost turned my project into a total fiasco. with christmas a few days later and no fence between myself and my neighbors i spent many a sleepless nights. i bought in another co. a-zap welding to provide kevin with the manpower to complete the job before 12-23-11 deadline. i choose not to fire kevin because he did appear shaky and i did not want to bring his morale down. i simply wanted to get this job completed in peace without anyone getting hurt. it did get completed with extra help on time. kevin and i parted ways in peace. misc. things which went wrong: *post holes were not dug deep enough as specified in contract *entire project left un supervised with no schedule what so ever *dug out dirt/mud was not picked up on neighbors sides or mine which resulted in cement getting ingrained into the mud/soil *2 or 3 man crew would arrive late (on good sunny days), took long breaks and owner still refused to show up and supervise. *had to bring in another sub contractor to provide dfw shed & fence co. with the manpower needed to complete job.

+ -1 moreKevin came out on a Saturday and measured for the shed. I told him I wanted a low profile shed that blends into the yard. We agreed on an 8'x8' shed with a low pitched roof. He had had a cancelation and said they could install it the following Wednesday. All I had to do was buy the paint. Everything went as planned and the shed was up and painted when I got home from work on Wednesday. The paint color was a tree bark grey and it looks fabulous. It's a great shed really high quality, and level (I measured) on a slopping yard. The lock seems sturdy enough to me, but I personally would not hold them responsible if someone broke into my yard and then broke into the shed. I would definitely use them again.
