Overall, it turned out very well.

They finished the construction on August the 5th. It cost us around $2082.47 for their services. The old shed was taken down by the concrete people. They stacked it all up in the front. Two days later, they hauled it off. Then DFW Shed & Fence Co. came out. They hauled all the components in and it took them about a day and a half to have the shed built. They put it up in panels. It was a metal base. Then they put the sides up and put the door on. We contracted with them and told them about the shed size we wanted. It was a custom built one. It wasn’t that much more expensive. I have one problem with them which is the lack of follow up. They didn’t get the door lock and the assembly put on for a while. When they came back and put the door, it was supposed to be secured. It’s like a barn door with a 5 to 6 foot opening. The left side door was supposed to be secured top and bottom because there is a steel frame on the door and a steel frame floor. They had to drill into that to put it in. It was supposed to have been drilled and it couldn’t be broken into after that. They actually had a shield on the front, which had a deadbolt and a knob. The knob never did close and the deadbolt was very small. A month after our shed was constructed and we put our tools in there, we had a burglary. It was broken into and the door was broken. Then we saw as to how they had assembled the locking mechanism on the door. They had used the plywood with drywall screws. It wasn’t the long sheet metal screws that we were told would be put in there. I still have the locking mechanism and we are yet to hear from them. I have got the police report and everything. We called them on September 10th. The people who broke into the shed came in through the back gate. They broke the lock on the back gate. Then they came in and jerked the door open. We don’t know who did it. It was a crappy assembly. The shed is great. It’s a wonderful shed and it looks good. We had all of our lawn equipment in there like the weed eater, hedger, trimmer and blower. They took a saw and our pressure washer for the pool deck. We were like cleaned out. DFW Shed & Fence Co. is yet to respond. We have e-mailed them and we called them. We told them what happened. We feel like they should at least come back and make it right by putting the lock back on the shed and the door knob as well. We had thousands of dollars worth of equipment. It will cost us $1300 for replacing the lawn mower. When we didn’t hear from them a week or so later, we went to another store and we got the heavy duty locking mechanism with the big thing that goes 4 inches up into the floor and into the ceiling. Then we put motion detector lights out there and we even have an alarm in the shed. We were perfectly satisfied up until the lock assembly. I also watched the shed go up. They stood out there and told me that no one would be able to break in because it was a welded metal plate on a steel framed door. They said that they used a double lock assembly, which was secured top and bottom so that no one could jerk the door. It was very shoddy work. Kevin Higgins is the owner. He stood out on my driveway and told me that the door couldn’t be pulled open. He said that it’s secured top and bottom with a double lock. It only went in like a quarter of an inch. If I would have given it a good jerk, I could have probably opened it. We have lived in this house for 12 years and we have never had anything stolen. We had a crummy shed with a padlock on it. I still have the service manuals on all the equipment that we bought. They were punctual and got out here on time. When Kevin said he was going to be here, he was here. His workers showed up on time. The shed was well built and they even painted it. They used three coats of paint on that with a shingle roof. It wasn’t cheap construction. They were very competitive with their price and I had no problems. It was comparable to what you would pay at another place. We priced at the other places and this one was more expensive than the other companies. The other company didn’t build it on site and we didn’t have a choice on the configuration on the doors. All I wanted from them was a phone call to tell me that they would come out to replace the lock. It also says on their letter that we would get a $100 rebate on our recent work if we refer any of our friends or family members. It’s like a $100 gift card. They followed up with a thank you letter and a phone call. The shed was finished on August 10th and we were broken into on the early morning hours of Saturday, September 10th. They came back and fixed the lock. Generally, their work was good, but their lock mechanism didn’t stand up to what they had promised. They never called us or tried to make it right. We had a very detailed contract and we read the contract. We made half payment for the shed. We gave them a deposit upon completion. We gave them the balance after they installed and came back to fix the lock. Then they followed up with a letter. We paid the balance on August 8th. We gave the deposit on July 28th.

I am very impressed with this company, and especially the owner, Kevin Higgins. Kevin arrived on time to view the site in my backyard and to answer all the questions I had about features, security, etc. for the new shed. He emailed a copy of the itemized estimate to me later that evening, and it included everything we had discussed. We had initially arranged to have the shed put up at the end of that week, but dealing with the city on the building permit and inspection threw a monkey wrench into things. Kevin kept in touch throughout this whole process and walked me through everything. He was always professional yet personable and kept a sense of humor (even when I lost mine). We were able to schedule another build day for about a week later than the first date, and everything went very well. Kevin came back after the shed was up and painted and did a last check. He even had one of his crew come back and touch up some nails that were missed in the painting, and saw down some old clothesline poles that were close to the shed. I am extremely happy with the shed, and it appears to be a quality building, very solid. I recommend Kevin and his company without reservations to anyone who needs a shed or fence built. He is honest and does what he says he will do, and seems to know his business very well. Thanks for a great experience, Kevin!

Kevin kept me informed along the way. He came out to the site, measured and asked about what I wanted. I even made a change afterward and accommodated me. Leo and the crew showed up on time and worked until it was done. A very professional experience. I was impressed with the overall construction of the floor and door. Both made of metal and the floor.

Owner and sales rep Kevin Higgins answered phone calls, emails and questions promptly and conscientiously. He and his work crew were punctual and courteous. The shed looks great. The pet door was installed neatly and in a workmanlike manner. When I thought they had installed the pet door backwards (they had not), they were unfailingly polite and not at all condescending. I am not sure whether they charge the lowest price in town, but I know I avoided the problems people can have when they buy sheds that are inexpensive, but poorly built. I would definitely use this company again.

Very well. Kevin Higgins, owner came out to my house 2 x because I changed the building I wanted built to a very different one. Prompt, professional, tidy, clean, cooperative. highly skilled. Cleaned up after themselves. Did quality work. Painted the building and the steel very well with 2 colors. Looks great and is very serviceable.

Installed lean-to in one day. They even followed up to see how everything went and to see if there was anything else that I needed, or that they could do.

Very good service with excellent product. They built a shed on-sight to my specific needs. Since this wasn't a shed they normally produce(this had no floor)I was pleased with their ability to build it on-sight and in one day. Their price was exactly what I was given as an estimate. They were friendly and easy to work with. Highly recommend this small local company
