Torres Flooring

My job usually requires that I am often away from my home, so my wife ended up finding George through Home Advisor and also seeing that he had a page on Angie?s List as well. He came out to the house to do the estimate. He brought his daughter and 5 year old daughter to our property, which is a bit unprofessional but the least of my concerns. He took the measurements and gave my wife a quote. Everything sounded okay so we proceeded. He then said that he would need about $500 to start for ?supplies?. My wife paid this to him in cash before I was able to get home to meet him initially. At this time, he also let me know that he used a part time sub contractor to do the refinishing portion of flooring, because he himself only does the installations. Once I realized that we were going to use his services for the flooring project. I asked him for a list of references. He told me that his wife would contact us the next day to give us that information. Sure enough, she sent us a list of names and numbers that next day. We proceeded to contact all of the people he gave to us, hoping to plan a visit to the potential work that he had completed. But for every reference, every time we were about to meet, there would always be some reason for postponing the meeting. Got back in touch with George to clarify that these were valid, at which point he let me know ?well they should answer, they?re my friends.? He ended up giving me a list of his FRIENDS as opposed to clients for whom he had actually done work. I still decided that this information was still more valuable than no information. After multiple attempts to schedule a meeting with any of the references without luck, I decided to contact George for a refund. He initially said that he would be able to refund half of the money and also the supplies. I agreed to that, hoping to be done with his business. I asked if I could get a receipt so that I could also return the supplies. He refused to give this to me. Again, I conceded in hopes to just be done with his company. He said that he would talk to his partner and that they would get back to me the following day. I never heard from them after that until I tried to reach out to them myself. I contacted them and asked about the refund, at which point they let me know that they were not going to be refunding any of the money I paid. We exchanged words which led him to telling me to ? Do whatever the h*** you want? . I tried to let calmer head prevail and give him a call back the next day. Usually his wife answers the phone, takes any messages for him, and then has George call you back. He actually answered this time, and the conversation ended with ??to h*** with you. Do whatever you want, you?re not getting a dime from me.? This is by far one of the worst experiences I have had with any business of any kind. Avoid this company by all means!
