First Exterior Designs

I cannot say enough about Lynn Nichols and his design company. They replaced 19 windows on my 35 year old home and made it look new again. Their workmanship is impeccable and professionalism is firt class - you dont find both those attributes in a company very often nowadays. Everything was perfect down to the most minor details. They were on time, did the entire job in 1.5 days, and they cleaned up as well as I would have when the project was completed. We keep the A/C temp about 4 degrees higher now and its still cool in the house. There was an immediate defference. I cannot say enough about Lynn Nichols and his design company. Their workmanship is impeccable and professionalism is first class - you dont find both those attributes in a company very often nowadays. Everything was perfect down to the most minor details. They were on time, did the entire job in 1.5 days, and they cleaned up as well as I would have when the project was completed. I appreciated that the sales pitch was at all high pressure. Lynn is a very honest person and he definitely gives the impression that he trustworthy. He's worked on a number of homes in my neighborhood and he had 100% positive reviews on the neighborhood blog.

Very well. Installers arrived on time. They are well trained & experienced, were careful, detail oriented & efficient. They cleaned up & removed any debris.

I had this work done in the last two years, but prior to using Angie's List, so just now writing a review. You can't go wrong with First Exterior Designs. I get compliments all the time on the quality of the windows and doors. They were easy to work with, and the two installers are top notch. I send their name to anyone I hear who needs new windows or patio doors. I can't say enough about them. You won't be disappointed!

We had all 28 windows replaced in house, we got three bids and went with First Exterior Designs, they were not the cheapest, but they used Don Young windows and between the window choice and the installer's reputation is why we chose First Exterior Designs. We could not be happier with our decision, Lynn, Ben and Peter did exactly what they said they were going to do and when they said they were going to do it. The house was left in the same condition as when they started, you couldn't even tell they were there, except for the awesome new windows.

I was impressed by the work that Lynn and his team did on my neighbors house. Seeing that work my wife and I selected First Exterior Designs. Our whole house replacement of windows went very well. Lynn was well prepared and knows his business. He was very open and knowledgeable. Ben and Peter, the installers, were prompt, punctual, polite, and did a very careful and clean installation. We are very satisfied with the work that was done. We are happy with the visual quality, the cooler comfort from high-efficiency windows, and as an added benefit, the quiet from well insulated and and properly installed windows. We recommend First Exterior Designs for great windows.

From quote to completion everything went well. Lynn was responsive to all phone calls before, during and after installation. Lynn's price was not the least or most expensive. I was sold on the manufacturer Don Young windows. Lynn was recommended by the company. Ben the installer was awesome. They were on time and worked hard throughout the day. They are self contained. I had to reassure them to get the drinks I purchased for them out of my fridge. There was little to no mess. There were two of them and they did an excellent job. Lots of attention to detail. Courteous at all times. They took all of the windows out without any glass breakage. I would not have felt uncomfortable leaving the installers alone in my house. They seemed trustworthy. They were dressed professionally and their equipment was in great shape. My husband says you can tell a lot about a company by the way they keep their equipment and how their representatives look. After the install I checked each window for a tight seal and could not detect any incoming air. I love my new windows. I waited to get a couple of electricity bills to write this review. My electricity cost went down considerably. I would highly recommend this company.

They used Don Young windows and we were happy with the quality of that window company. Ben came out to install our windows and did a wonderful job on everything he did. It is a process that takes experience and that is exactly what Ben has.

The installer did an excellent job on the installation. He was very careful removing the old metal frame windows and covered the inside areas with plastic materials. The installation of the new windows was very professional. He applied a termite spray in the opening and also expandable foam in the cavity openings. After installing the windows he sealed the windows outside and inside. Then he cleaned up the area and then washed the windows. I was very impressed with the thoroughness of the installer and the company as well. If I need more windows I will used this company again.

The quality of everything was absolutely top-notch. It's rare these days to find people that truly care about the quality of their work and that are skilled craftsmen and Ben is one of those people of the highest caliber. He is a perfectionist and it shows in everything he does. We couldn't be happier and will use First Exterior again if we need any additional work done. They're not the cheapest guys in town but these days, you're lucky if you get what you pay for and, in this case, First Exterior was more than worth the higher price. We would recommend them to anyone!

Overall, the experience was excellent. They do not use subcontractors, so the same crew always works with the owner. They were great to work with and incredibly polite. The only downside was that we needed to find another company to complete the texturing and finished interior painting, since Lynn only specializes in certain things. We intend to continue working with him!

We have been slowly re-doing our residence one room at a time. This replacement window project was our last major project. I did a lot of research on what windows I wanted in my home and finally decided on Don Young thermally broken single-hung windows. Then, I had to decide who I wanted to install them for me. I interviewed several different companies before finally deciding on First Exterior Designs. Now that the project has been completed, I made a very good decision. The owner, Lynn Nichols, came to my home for the initial estimate and I immediately liked him. He explained their installation process and we discussed their installation crew. His installation process was just what I was looking for, in that the installers use non-expanding foam to seal around the windows during the installation in order to get an airtight seal. A lot of companies that I interviewed don't use that process, they just put in the new window and caulk around it. This company was not the cheapest but they were not the most expensive either. My wife was very concerned about the cleanliness of the project since it would entail tearing out our old builder grade aluminum windows that were nearly 20 years old. Lynn convinced us that his crew was the best he had ever seen at both the actual replacement process as well as being neat and clean. In fact, he told us that if this project was not the best and cleanest of any of our other construction projects, he would knock off an additional $250. Ben and his helper, John, arrived promptly on Tuesday morning, July 31, 2012, and began the installation with temperatures in the 100's. They worked very hard but I did not feel like they were rushing to get the job done quickly. Ben took the time to explain the installation process to me. They installed all 31 windows in 3 days. They installed one window at a time and draped the room with plastic in case of dust. At the end of each day, they cleaned the newly installed windows and cleaned their work space so we never even knew they had been there. My wife and I were very impressed with how clean Ben was able to keep the work area. I will have to say that Lynn was right in that this was the best and cleanest of any of our construction projects. Ben and John absolutely knew what they were doing and I am very happy that I chose this company. The windows are beautiful and I believe they are installed properly.The project has been completed to my satisfaction and I will tell you that you will not find a better company or intallation crew than First Exterior Designs. You will not be disappointed!!!!

Wonderful experience. I contacted First Exterior Design (Lynn) based on a recommendation from the company that had manufactured our new windows. After a previous contractor installed one window backwards, and then would not contact me back or come out to fix it, I contacted Lynn. I explained the issue, and he offered to have his guy come out to take a look. They showed up promptly Monday morning, completed the work in just a few hours, pointing out along the way the mistakes that had been made in the previous installation and what they were going to do to make it better. They protected the inside of the house where they were working, cleaned up after themselves, and you could very much tell they cared about the quality of the work they were leaving behind. I would definitely contact First Exterior Design again in the future.

The entire experience with Lynn and his crew was outstanding from start to finish. He arrived at the house precisely when he said he would and made an initial assessment of the situation with the existing windows which were extremely old wooden windows that had needed replacing many years ago. I knew of the very high quality of Don Young vinyl windows, and Lynn is considered to be their top installer. I can see why! He is a laid back, straight shooting, professional who knows his stuff. He stayed in touch with me on a regular basis to let me know what impact the weather, his schedule, and the production schedule of my new windows would do to the timeline for getting the windows installed. There were never any surprises. His crew is absolutely top flight. They drove to Fort Worth from Greenville two days to install the windows and arrived early each morning. They worked diligently to remove the old windows, install the new indows and leave the house looking like it had a face lift. The windows are beautiful and will improve not only the appearance of the home but will improve the energy efficiency, dust contol, and noise levels. I could not be happier with the work performed by Lynn and his crew chief, Ben Fehr. They are truly outstanding at what they do!! Anyone shopping for new, high quality replacement windows should consider Don Young windows and have First Exterior Designs install them for you. You will not be disappointed.
