I was hoping changing a 30 amp breaker to a 40 amp breaker in order to swap my single oven for a double oven would be an easy task, but the wire had to be changed to a lower-gauge wire to handle to load, which involved running it from the breaker panel in my garage, up the wall into a crawl space, then into the attic, then into another crawl space, and finally down the wall of my kitchen on the far side of the house. The three guys that did the work were friendly, courteous, and professional.
Description of Work: Ran lower-gauge wire through two crawl spaces and an attic, then replaced a 30 amp breaker with a 40 amp breaker.

I purchased an Angie's list coupon for $200 of work by C & B Electric for $111. There was no electrical outlet near or around the desk under the stairs, and I purchased the coupon in order to have one installed. The company was able to schedule the work within 5 days of my call, and their electrician arrived on time, looking and behaving professionally. When I scheduled the work, I believed the task would be a simple one, but after his initial analysis, the electrician explained that the procedure would be more complicated that anticipated, because there were no electrical lines adjacent to the desk. He said he could install the plug by accessing the wires to an existing plug on the first stair landing, but it would cost an additional $167, due to the difficulty of reaching those lines. He explained that he would need to crawl under the desk, and cut a cut a hole in wall behind the desk to access the understaff crawlspace and access the wires. I agreed, since he was already there, since the process involved putting a full-grown man in a child-sized space, and since I needed the plug. He completed the work after cutting the hole under the desk cutting the sheetrock near the existing plug on the landing. The process left lots of sheetrock particles and dust in both locations, which he did not clean up. In addition, he left pieces of wires and other trash generated during the work. This is the reason that I am detracting from his quality score. In addition, the price of the work was 189% of the original $200, which I thought was excessive.
Description of Work: The contractor installed an electrical outlet by a built-in desk in the front hall, under the stairs.

It was okay. I know electricians are expensive and honestly I ended up almost spending $500 for doing some things. They were trying to find some outlets that wasn't working in the porch and in one area in the garage. I felt like I was kind of pushed into "do it now or we'll end up charging more later." They came with a massive binder. They wanted to charge me an arm and a leg. It's a beautiful glossy binder. When you decided not to go with them because you called for a consultation or an estimate, they told me on the phone that there's a $200 charge for them to come out. They pulled me the wrong way. I called and they came right out. They were very prompt. He wasn't rude. It's all in presentation. So far, everything's working.
Description of Work: I purchased a "Big Deal" for C & B Electric. They replaced an outlet over the gate. They did the ceiling fan. They checked some outlets as to why we weren't getting any power.

He arrived around 9am, on time/in the arranged window for the appointment. The quote for services was very, very high. The man was nice and knowledgeable and caught an issue our painters had created when they disconnected an outlet. if it were not for the crazy high prices I would use them again but I feel we were taken advantage of, paying $400 to have 4 outlets replaced.
Description of Work: I purchased the coupon for $100 good towards $200 worth of services. I called as soon as I purchased the coupon and the first available appointment was 10 days later, so we scheduled an 8-11 am window of time for his arrival. I wanted 8 wall outlets replaced and a quote on my outdoor light that turns on and off. He gave a quote of $1800 to replace four overhead lights and replace 8 wall outlets. The price seems very, very high. We had him replace 4 wall outlets and paid another $300 in addition to the $100 paid for the coupon.

I wanted the electrician to explore why my hall light fixture kept blowing bulbs; instead he wanted to sell me two new bulbs for $75.00! I said "no" to his bulbs. He suggested that my bulbs had only been 120 volt bulbs, but should have been a higher voltage. Hmmmmmm? I think all the available bulbs at the local retailer are 120 volts. I've now replaced the bulbs with LED bulbs, and so far, so good. I wanted the electrician to replace the bathroom ventilation fan with one I already had. He did this, but instead of stopping to tell me that the new fan was smaller than the original opening before finishing the installation, he completed the job (I would have opted for a better-fitting fan replacement). I am left with a sizable gap across one side of the new fan which allows the attic insulation in fall into the bathroom. I have since purchased a larger grill to cover the whole area and will have to fill in the gap to keep the attic insulation in the attic! The bedroom ceiling fan installation went better; however, I needed a different electrical box in the ceiling for the fan, and for that I paid a whopping extra $150.00! It had seemed to me that the $111.00 that I paid for $200.00 of service didn't go very far - certainly not as far as I had expected that it would.

i originally had set an appointment on a Thursday. I was told they could come in through the garage. They called me the next day and told me they had an appointment come available that day between 1-5. They told me they could not come through the garage. I called my husband and he said he would be there at 3:00. They agreed to come at that time. The service professional called my husband at 1:00 and said his early appointment got cancelled and he wanted to come out at 1:00. Since my husband could not be there at that time he was unwilling to wait for the agreed upon time and cancelled the service call for the day. I rescheduled the appointment for that Friday when I would be home. I bought a deal from Angie's list for $111 which got me $200 worth of service. The service professional came, was in my house less than one hour, and replaced a breaker, and an outlet. He charged $199 for the breaker and $99 for the outlet. My total cost out of pocket was $295 plus the $111 I paid on Angie's list. He also did not leave an invoice for the work he did. I called the next day and asked if the service professional forgot to subtract the $200 from the Angie's list deal. I was told that their service charge to come to the house was $200 so he deducted that. He did in fact subtract the charge and what I paid was correct. I called to talk to the manager, got his voicemail, and left a message for him to call me back. He never did. I called to talk to the Owner's son, got his voicemail, left a message, and never got a call back. I have since contacted several other electricians which quoted me much less.

Description of Work: Replaced 2 fluorescent light strips with LED. Alex did a great job. Another electrician was originally scheduled. But he wanted to come to the house 1 1/2 hours before the scheduled window. When I was finally able to call him back, he was no longer in the area and didn't think he could make it back before the end of the day and felt rescheduling would be best. I was a bit irritated as I made the schedule for my day around the service window I was provided. When I called the company and explained what happened, they were also irritated with that electrician, and was very apologetic. They wanted to make it right and were going to call the original electrician to get him back to my house immediately. I didn't want that to take place for various reasons. They were going to check another electrician's (Alex) schedule and could send him out the next day. I got a call back within 20 minutes and they let me know Alex became available and he was sent out. In hindsight, that was the best move for me. Alex was very professional, knowledgeable, and thoroughly explained the option of LED (which I would have never considered) vs. replacing the existing fluorescent unit with new ones I purchased. The cost was very similar, but the LED was the better option, especially with the amount of light it provided. I'm not sure if Alex knew the scenario, but he did an outstanding job - which I think would have been the same regardless of the situation.

Purchased the deal for two hours of labor worth $200 for $111. This wasn't really two hours of labor. It was for the cost of "troubleshooting" even though I knew the issue. My LED can lights flicker when other items are turned on in the house. After looking at it for a few minutes, they told me it was a voltage drop because too many items are on the same circuit. and is not a concern. This is what I wanted fixed because I don't want lights flickering. They changed the wire connector in the light switch and called it a day. Also, they replaced a different light switch which cost me $75. I was just disappointed that my issue did not get resolved after spending all of this money. Total out of pocket was $111+$75=$186 for a new single pole switch and new wire connectors. The issue still remains and now the lights randomly flicker in the evening on their own. Would not recommend purchasing this "deal" Response to Provider: Sorry I meant $111 for $200 of electrical services. 'Troubleshooting' what I had already known should not be worth $200. Taking apart a light switch and changing a wire connector should not be $200. I knew too many items were on the same circuit which I wanted re-wired to a new circuit. I specifically said that. And all I was told was that it's nothing to worry about.
Description of Work: Wanted my can lights to stop flickering so they changed the wire connector. Also replaced a new switch.

They came out and wrote up quote and total for 3 ceiling fan installations was $747.00. $50 to take down old dome light, $50 to assemble fan and $150 to install new fan for each. Most ridiculous quote I have gotten on this. This is a one story ceiling that a normal ladder can reach. I had gotten several other quotes and it was $75/fan for entire thing. I sent them away and requested a refund from Angie's list who was very happy to help me out.

Overall, we were happy with C&B Electric. They performed quality work at a good price, although it was higher than what we were originally thinking, but we had additional services performed as mentioned above. The electric panel has been in service for over a year now with no issues. C&B came to our house to do a quote after purchasing the Angie's List coupon. They put together an updated estimate which we agreed upon and came back to perform the replacement. The work took about 4 hours to perform. After the installation, the city of Plano inspection came out to evaluate the work and found that only 1 grounding rod had been installed, instead of the 2 required by code. After a call to C&B about the issue, they returned promptly and performed the additional work at no additional charge since I pointed out that it was a code issue. I did have to show the electrician where in the city of Plano code that it was stated that 2 rods were needed. Overall, we were satisfied with the work performed, the quality and the price. I would recommend C&B to others.
Description of Work: Replaced the electric panel in our house, including new cold water ground, new grounding rods, and surge protection. Used an Angie's List coupon ($1,399), additional services were provided.

Brian and Shawn were absolutely fantastic! They explained very thoroughly what work needed to be done and how it was going to performed. They arrived at the time we established and completed the work within the time period that was established. They were very professional and courteous. I would highly recommend them to all my friends and relatives and have already recommended them to a family member for electrical work they need completed.
