The story is that things where moving ahead at a good pace until roughly late August early September. When my guess is that Firehouse began working on other jobs and working on my 3 houses during occasional spare days. By December, 6 months into project, I began to question both builder and Firehouses commitment to finish this project in a timely manner. This is when work became a little more steady with 2 workers for a couple of weeks. And an assurance from Randy Woods that he continue to keep me informed of work schedules etc. Then I assume the builder told Firehouse to stop working on the project,I don't know Randy would not return calls or texts. The work they did painted most of exterior of 2 houses no paint on 3rd. Interior trim complete in 1 house incomplete in 2. Then after notifying both builder and Firehouse of one house leaking during a rainstorm nobody came to repair. I have pictures of leak in master bedroom and bath all the way down to first floor hot water closet. Firehouse put roof on and painted without caulking siding and trim in many areas. They also sheetrocked over the main electric lines from the breaker box to go outside to the meter. Also got trucks stuck in the front yard of a home causing major ruts and running over and destroying a water meter box, replaced and repaired by city water department. I have pictures and videos of all above descriptions I have now been left to complete the project on my own without a refund of any funds. Again I gave Coldwater Custom Builders $175,900 of a roughly $200k budget. I will have to come up with an additional $45k over $200k to complete project. These 2 companies continue to work together and I want to inform everyone what could happen if you hire Firehouse Construction,Randy Woods.
Description of Work: Firehouse construction was hired by the builder Coldwater Custom builders to be the main contractor on a 3 house new construction rental home project. The builder and Firehouse walked off the job with houses roughly 55% completed while taking $177,900 of the $200,000 budget. This was after the slab foundations had been poured in July 2012 quit in mid January 2013.

Response from Firehouse Construction
Customer story is filled with untruths as it pertains to Firehouse Const. Firehouse Const has earned a reputation of providing quality work at a fair price with hundreds of happy customers over the past 10 years. Customer reneged on the original contract price which was done on a handshake between him and Coldwater Builders, one of his personal friend for the past several years. Customer also refused to pay for change orders required by city code that was not part of the original plans. Customer was advised upfront that due to his very tight budget for this project, the project would take 6-8 months to complete the 3 houses because the plan was to use hourly crew members to save save money over the cost of using normal sub contractors. Firehouse const. did not do the framing, plumbing, hvac, and roofing, these phases was completed by out side subs. Firehouse construction was only paid for work completed by Firehouse Cont. crew members. and not one penny more. If customer did pay Coldwater for work not completed, that is an issue between customer and Coldwater. The project was not left at 55% as stated by the customer, by my estimate it would have taken 50,000 dollars to complete job. Given the fact there was 25,000 left according to customer and 2000, per house for change orders required by city, and 6000.00 disputed by customer on the original price, there was a total of 37,000 dollars left in job to complete. On Jan 25 2013, i received a text from customer stating Coldwater had said he was done with job, Firehouse Construction did not walk off job as stated by customer as we had work scheduled for the next day. Firehouse Const. continues to do work for Coldwater because over the past 3 years we have never failed to get paid for our services. In the end Firehouse Const. will always put our customers first, customer's lies will not change this. Customer was in partnership on this project with several of his family members, i suppose him posting this story on here was a way to save face with family. I am really sorry that the project turned out bad, but Firehouse Const, was paid to do a job and was only paid for the work that we completed. Customer refusal to live up to the original agreed price for the project ,and his refusal to pay for required city changes put the project in jeopardy. No contractor can or should be expected to pay for the cost of changes made by city codes, in addition on a project with such a tight budget, no contractor can or should be expected to take 6000.00 dollars off the agreed amount of the project. So be very careful if you work for the customer, he might do you this way as well!
