The job was estimated to take 1 month. The job took 3 months. The staircase job to the 2nd floor was fairly self explanatory. We have used Javier before on other projects and did not expect problems. The problem started in the 1st phase (staircase) when workers would not show up and we'd have to call Javier and advise him of this. Javier, during the course of both phases of the project, probably checked on this jobsite 6 times. At the end of the 2nd phase, we had to have his workers come back because they had not replaced baseboard trim to sanded and painted the patches where pot lights were removed from ceiling. Long and short of it, we had workers not on site as many days as we had them onsite. Javier, when called, even told me that he needed his workers to finish jobs in Kilgore and Lake Cherokee and left us without anyone here. The original bedroom job was described as this: 15x20 bedroom addition, wall type heater/ac such as in motel room walls, ceiling fan and light fixture, windows facing front and side of house that match existing windows in the house, 3 large plate glass panels on back wall facing lake to match existing windows in back of house, closet with loover doors, laminate flooring to match living room floor, pocket door from living room into new bedroom, double sided fireplace between living room and bedroom. Javier no-showed 3 meetings 3 weeks prior to end of project to bring out ac man to see the room (instead of having ordered the equipment at the beginning of the job). At this point, I went online and ordered my own ac/heating unit and had his electrician install it. When the windows came in we had them tinted before bringing them to the jobsite. When they arrived, he had ordered ALL windows as plate glass windows and we had to purchase 2 new windows for front and side of the house and retint them at our expense. His workers broke 1 of the 3 plate glass windows by leaning them on the size of our outbuilding and the wind blew it over and broke it. The fireplace was $5500 extra from the original estimate and we have a separate contractor for that job. The horror story goes on and on with no show workers, sending only 1 man at a time to work, and more. By the time I fired him at the end of the job, I had 2 colors of paint (I bought all paint, door handles, ceiling fan, and 2 light fixtures myself. The workers lost 2 sets of handles for the pocket doors) on a new night stand and dresser, we were told that we could install the trim work around the ac ourselves after the paint dried, they used paint at a rate of 1/2 gallon on 1 wall, I had to tell them to paint the outside of the addition (there were going to leave it plain, unpainted siding), they failed to paint all the outside trim, they used a different color shingle on the addition telling us at the end of the job that they could not match it although they just roofed a neighbors house with our original color shingles, C.F wrong location, light put outside the room.
Description of Work: 2 Projects: (1)to rebuild interior staircase, add light fixture in stairwell, add door at bottom of staircase, raise height of storage closet doorway. (2)to remove slanted, A frame wall, starighten wall, remove pot lights from living room ceiling, cut doorway in way, add 15x20 bedroom including in wall ac/heating unit. The house is on concrete piers and beams.
