Accurate Moving

The word firefighter instills confidence, trust and dedication in the mind of the public. Unfortunately, this is not carried over with Accurate Moving (they also refer to themselves as Accurate Firefighter Movers). I moved a very short distance on smooth roads and experienced a shocking amount of damage to my belongings. A man came out and rubbed some stain on some scratches and took my sewing machine for 5 weeks. While the way they handled the scratches was bad, the bigger issue, to me, is my sewing machine. It was in pristine condition and when I got it back, it was completely destroyed. It is usable, however I am not sure it is safe. The wires are visible because the insulation is torn. Everything on the machine - the case and the machine - was severely scratched. To "fix" it, they used steel wool to "buff" the scratches out. All that did was leave the sewing machine with a dull finish. There is a large chip out of the machine housing that is irreparable. They straightened a bent steel thread holding arm, but they did nothing to realign the machine after that - now it vibrates a lot when I use it. My neighbors here were referred to this company for moving also and they each have their own horror stories. In Texas, a mover has to furnish $.60/lb if there is any damage to items. My sewing machine is 25 pounds and worth $300, so this amount is just a drop in the bucket. I was assured that my items were safe and that they were insured and something very special to me was damaged. We were led to believe that the movers are off duty firefighters and I hope they really aren't because they don't embody the ideals held by firefighters. At this point, they won't even take my calls - I am disconnected as soon as the phone picks up - which is a shame because the representative told me that he would pay me $1/lb for my damaged sewing machine - which still doesn't cover its value.

It was a very frustrating experience, make sure you request that your crew consist of "central Texas firefighters" as promised on their website and not a crew of young, disorganized college students. My three workers were all students and no one was in charge. Two of them worked together fairly well, but the third man was of little help. I found him texting three times and just standing around a lot. Their overall pace was slow to medium at best. After two and a half hours of watching this I started moving things myself (I am a 65 year old woman). When we finally reached my home I decided to save time by having the boxes put in the garage and stopped them from putting my furniture together as I was over budget by now. The whole process took 5 hours, 15 minutes. I spoke with the owner afterwards who told me he had addressed the texting issue and then he basically quit listening. I was even more ticked-off after speaking with him. If you go to their website link from Angie's List they are advertising as "Accurate Firefighter Movers" and state that the movers are "central Texas firefighters from various departments.....with the work ethics of a public servant". I consider that false advertising. Three movers and a truck for $130 per hour is a fair price. Just make sure you get an adult crew with someone in charge.

The experience was pretty good. They were very good.

We had a very small move at a very short distance; however, the movers were competent, careful, and reasonable. I would use them again.

Accurate Firefighter Movers were great. 3 guys came and they moved us and didn't break anything. They were very professional, very nice, helpful and pretty fast. They are a great company and definitely a worthy cause for fire fighters.
