Larry's Alamo Landscaping Co. is at 210-909-1081. He had finely crushed granite delivered to build a path that was previously made of uneven flag stones. He removed soil to make the ground flat and smooth for the granite and gouged out soil on both sides to allow for lime stone block edging. He laid the limestone blocks perfectly level and chiseled them to size them and make them fit together properly. He and a helper wheel barreled the granite in from the street and laid it 2-3and quot; thick, and then rolled the path with a heavy roller to compact it. We opted not to use weed cloth because weeds have not grown there in the past. The result is a beautiful and smooth path edged by nicely colored beige limestone blocks, and it's easier to walk on than the previous stones. This is next to a split rail fence and looks great. He also transplanted two large bushes, fixed some brick edging, brought and distributed half a yard of and quot;rose soiland quot; to top off two planters, and brought and distributed a yard of mulch for the planters and gardens. This rose soil is from Fertile Gardens and has excellent texture. It's the first time I've tried that particular mix. The path is a really nice addition to the yard. He cleaned up everything afterward and took away the poor quality excess soil that was excavated. We had a pile of branches in the backyard to be taken to the street for brush pickup. Larry and his helper took it to the street for us. :)

The planter project went perfectly, but I can’t say enough about all the projects that Larry has done for me. He is the best landscaper I’ve found. When first working with him a few years ago, I got other estimates on projects. His was always the best price. I had already seen that he does quality work when he put grass in for our neighbors. We’re on a corner. He created a beautiful desert area on the corner of the lot. That area is separated from adjacent mulched xeric gardens (that he created) by natural brown stone edging and is covered with commercial weed cloth and decomposed granite. The plants he brought were large and looked wonderful right away. He also placed 5 reddish brown boulders there and they match the color of the granite. When a car took out our whole side fence two years ago and destroyed the 9’ wide garden behind it, Larry took away the debris of stone blocks and twisted trellises. The garden sloped quite a bit, so he suggested that we level it to make it easier for me to work it because I lose my balance easily. He used two stacked rows of heavy, wide commercial plastic edging, which I could afford much easier than concrete block, and attached them to the new fence. He brought in soil and made the new garden into a beautifully smooth and level area. He planted some plants and I gradually planted others. He brought boulders to place along the outside of the fence to stop cars from coming in again, since this was the 2nd car in our yard. He removed an 18’ x 18’ area of backyard grass that I didn’t want to water and replaced it with com weed cloth and mulch. It looks nice because there are bushes all along the fence to add greenery. Adjacent to the desert garden, he removed a 6’ wide border of grass around the front and side yards and planted and mulched xeric bushes. Before that, the irrigation water was running down the slopes and into the street. He also removed grass on one shady and treed side of the house and replaced it with mulch and a border of liriope. He built a 2nd stone block planter in the backyard to hold an avocado tree. He replaced unattractive foundation bushes with giant liriope, which don’t need much water and look great. He brings mulch to replenish the gardens’ old mulch about once a year. He picks up every bit of trash from each job and takes it away, so the yard is totally clean when he is finished. He advises me on plants and grass. He’s polite, respectful, and goes along with me when I change my mind on things. He does flagstone work, so I might get him to redo our path stones. I have to pace projects. He is my go-to person for anything I want done in the yard, and I highly recommend him to anyone who has plans for a big or small landscaping job. People have stopped in their cars to tell me that the gardens are beautiful, or that we are a lovely gateway into the neighborhood because we're the first house that you see, or that we have the prettiest yard on the block. One who saw the backyard said it is an oasis. Two have stopped to ask who did my landscaping and others have stopped just to look. Needless to say, I am happy to have a good landscaper!
Description of Work: He built an oval Windsor stone block planter, three rows high and 9.5' x 10.5 around two elm trees, using a half pallet of the blocks. The bottom row submerges into the slope, and the upper two rows are perfectly level. He filled it with light garden mix soil and took away the excess rocky clay soil that resulted from leveling the soil for the bottom row.
