Dan was fantastic. Did exactly what I asked. If there was a question or an issue, he worked with me to resolve it and stay within my budget. As a single mom, its very scary to hire contractors and extremely important to stay on budget. Dan was fantastic to work with. He stayed on budget, answered all of my questions and stayed within the time frame he quoted me. I felt very comfortable with him in my my home and am very satisfied with the work he did. I would absolutely use him again.

I have an older home that was lacking insulation between the attic and the upper bedroom causing the summer heat to seep through into the living quarters. Dan, with Texas Home Ventures replaced the insulation and added netting to keep it in place. It made a big difference in the temperature of the room.

Everything turned out great, we could not be happier with the finished product! We now enjoy our patio on a daily basis, bug free. Will hire Texas Home Ventures again in the future.
Description of Work: Needed my back porch screened in with a new door. I did not know much about the process or products available for screened in porches. Dan educated me on products available, drew a plan and made sure I understood what I was getting. Other bids I received were just vague descriptions and a price.

I had an area in an upstairs room that had poorly constructed cabinets that didn't even meet the wall in places. Dan, with Texas Home Ventures came, measured and best of all he saw my vision on what I was trying to accomplish. When I need work done on my home- I don't even consider anyone else. His work is truly impeccable and it is obvious he puts his all into it.

It went great. Dan came and closed off part of the kitchen to keep the area clean. We wanted the vent microwave high to leave room for cookling. After it was installed my wife realized it needed to be lowered. The change order was quickly bid and signed and we ended up with the vent microwave at the right height for my wife. We had a terrible time selecting tiles for the backslash so we called Dan on a Saturday afternoon. He came to the tile store and helped my wife pickout a great tile. The rest of the effort went smoothly.
Description of Work: Remodel upper and lower kitchen cabinets at built-in wall oven/microwave, and vent-a-hood; Project INCLUDES the following: Remove and Re-set existing wall oven to set below counter top height. Remove existing built-in microwave oven. Demo lower drawer and wall oven support deck. Demo plastic laminate side splash at left and right of wall oven cabinet. Demo wall oven cabinet above counter top. Demo existing 36" vent-a-hood and cabinet above. Rebuild wall oven support deck at toe-kick, and add oak plywood top rail/back wall cleat to support new Maple cutting board. Build and install a custom Hard Maple cutting board 1 1/2" thick x +/- 30" wide x +/- 25" deep. Cutting board to be become a replacement for the missing section of plastic laminate counter top. Butcher block to be finished with Watco Butcher Block oil/finish (food safe). Build a custom upper wall cabinet at old microwave location. Cabinet consists of an Oak plywood face frame, bottom deck, and left end panel. Doors salvage from above vent-a-hood; - resized and used on this cabinet. Cabinet size is approximately 26 1/2" wide x 13 1/2" tall x 12" deep. Match stain as close as possible to existing kitchen cabinets, and seal with Clear Satin Lacquer. New cabinet secured with 1x cleats. Install owner supplied Vent-a-hood/Microwave oven combination above stove. Note: based on the size of the proposed vent-a-hood MDL # LMHM2017 by LG, all space above the existing vent-a-hood will be filled by the new unit. THV will provide and install 3/4" Oak plywood cabinet filler strips at the sides (and top if needed), to close the openings between the existing cabinet face frames and front of new vent-a-hood only (no filler strips will be placed between the bottom of the vent-a-hood and the bottom of the existing cabinets). Stain/seal filler strips to mater existing cabinets as close as possible. Omit original proposed 6x6 tile at 62.5" space behind stove and butcher block. B) Relocate new microwave oven/vent hood 5" lower and install new duct. C) Install 3x6 subway tile and a mosaic tile accent band at 11' 10.5" backsplash behind stove. Subway tile to run from existing counter top to bottom of upper cabinets.

This is phase one of a four phase kitchen upgrade. Dan provided detailed statements of work and firm pricing. This phase wnt exactly as planned and we only had to go without a cook top for one night. Even though this phase was not the most costly it had the greatest impact on the usability of the kitchen, We have now completed three of the phases and each one has gone well.
Description of Work: Modify kitchen base cabinet at existing stove top, to provide space for a free standing oven; Project INCLUDES the following: Disconnect and remove existing drop-in stove top. (Note: assumes existing gas shut off valve at stove top). Cut existing plastic laminate counter top at two locations, to provide a minimum clear opening of 30 1/2". Salvage (if possible) plastic laminate from removed counter and use as end caps at oven opening. Cut existing cabinet face frame and carcass to provide clear opening for new oven. Add oak plywood face frame fillers, and cabinet end at left side of new opening. No cabinet end at right side - small section of counter top at right side to be supported with 2x wood backing. Stain new oak plywood fillers and end panel to match existing cabinets as close as possible. Clean up of THV construction debris, old stove top set at curb for city pick up.

The provider responded that they are booked up for 6-8 weeks and would not be able to complete the job in the requested timeframe. I replied asking if I could still get an estimate (as I may be willing to delay the project for the right price/provider). The provider responded that they do not give estimates months in advance due to price fluctuations and wished me luck. Since they refuse to even talk to me, I guess they don't need my business!
Description of Work: I contacted the provider with specific dimensions for my project seeking an estimate. I stated that I would like to have the project completed within a two month timeframe.

Wow! This guest bedroom and bathroom looks like a dream! I love to show it off when people come over as it looks so very different now. ...starting in the bathroom- this room had 2 steps up just to get to the tub and looked very chopped up. Dan removed the steps and found that he also had to strengthen the pier and beams as it was not done correctly by the previous owner. This bathroom was completely torn out to the studs as well to repair damaged walls. The walls were retextured, painted and new tub and tile installed. The vanity is a work of art! Rather than looking like it was and quot;stuckand quot; to the wall and too small for the space, it looks like it is an integral part of the bathroom as a whole thanks to his skill in woodworking. The attached bedroom had it's share of problems as well. The walls were also retextured and painted but the best part is the cove near the ceiling that wraps around the room and hides rope lighting. A great touch for guests who like to swoon over this ambit feature! The attached wall in closet also had steps that had to be removed (thank goodness!) and Dan installed shelving in both closets. A fantastic job was done and of course I have other jobs lined up as well!

Dan picked up and delivered the door, saved a lot of the bricks, so I could reuse them, and installed the door so well it looks like it has always been there. He left the area looking better than it was when he first arrived and was punctual and courteous. Dan is always my first choice when remodeling. He is also prompt with returning emails and calls.

Dan came out one week prior to the job date to review the project and then submitted a proposal within 24 hours. He arrived on time, was extremely knowledgeable, professional and a true craftsman. He arrived at 9 am and except for taking a one hour lunch, he worked straight through until he completed the job around 6 pm. The job turned out great and my wife and I are very pleased with the quality of his work. We would definitely recommend his services to anyone and would use him again for any future similar projects.
Description of Work: We hired them (Dan), to come in and install trim, chair rail, and crown molding in the guest bathroom. This was after a terrible experience with Dallas Handyman Connection (who by the way has changed their company name due to the overwhelming poor reviews on Angie's list).

Dan was excellent. He responded immediately to my inquiry for service. He made a timely appointment, provided a timely (and fair) estimate of repairs. He answered questions via email in advance and following the custom installation. He was punctual, very professional, and polite. He was courteous to our animals, and respected our requests to ensure the doors remained closed to prevent dog/cat escape. His workmanship was excellent on the orginal project. When we realized we needed additional shelves, he manufactured and delivered at no cost an additional shelf. My only issue with Dan was that he doesn't paint any of his materials. BUT, he is very upfront about that fact, and recommends painters that he has had good experience. It requires slightly more coordination, but i am OK with people understanding their strengths and recommending people that can complete the tasks more efficiently. All-in-all, it was a great experience and i look forward to working with Dan on several other initiatives that we have in our home.

We have lived with these problems for years and put off having them attended to because we didn't know where to turn for help. After reading his reviews on Angie's List we were convinced he was the kind of person we wanted in our home to help us..Dealing with Mr. Fitzner has renewed my faith in being able to find someone to perform repair services in a thorough and professional manner. It was the best decision of this nature we have ever made. He promptly arrived at the agreed upon time and went about his business methodically and capably. His work, mannerisms, and results were first class in every way. We are thrilled with the work he did for us and already have plans to have him return for additional things we want done. You can invite him into your home without concern for his personal sense of professionalism and the quality of work he will do for you. Signed, A Very Picky Retired Couple
