On October 29, 2013, Precision Plumbing ran a camera test on the property’s sewer line and assured me that there were no leaks in the sewer line, only in the washing machine line. I was quoted $3800 and told that this would fix the entire problem, as opposed to the $13500-14500 quoted by other companies. I had thought that the extra work they were quoting me was unnecessary, so I took Precision Plumbing for the job. The next day, JD claimed they redid the kitchen sink and washer lines and a subsequent hydrostatic test found a sewer leak. Since Precision failed to file for a city permit, no inspection was performed. To perform the test, he would have had to get into the backyard, which was secured with a locked gate. He said he climbed the fence to do it and was unable to provide proof that he performed the test at all. He coerced me into allowing him to do the work by offering me a low price since the yard was dug up already. However, the price was only good if I took it then and there, so I did. He also tried to make me write a postdated check for the work, but I refused this. Later, JD told me the job was done, and that the city inspection would be soon, but did not tell me of a time or place. Soon after, I asked him when inspection would be done, and he told me that it was already done and that he hadn’t told me beforehand because homeowners are apparently expected to wait at home all day for city inspectors to come. Soon afterwards, I spoke to the city inspector and he said that it had passed, pending a prompt backfilling of the hole under the foundation. An engineer visited and issued a report to JD. The next day, I drove by several times and saw no indication that backfilling was happening, but next day, I eventually came across JD’s crew trying to load dirt into their trailer. This was the same dirt that had come out to make the hole under my foundation. I confronted him about this, and said that backfilling had already happened with cement and that he didn’t feel the need to notify me or have me verify in any way that the work was being done. I took is word and paid JD the $5000 I owed for the work. I asked the inspector about this and he said that the city does not in any way verify backfilling; they just trust that the work is done per the company’s word. Soon after, I had 1st Choice Foundation come out and look at the foundation for an estimate on repairs related to the water leaks, and they saw the leftover dirt and immediately told me that there was no way the backfilling had been done properly and that I should not pay Precision. They gave me an engineer’s contact information, and advised that I get a second opinion. I stopped the check I had given JD and informed him of the fact and reason, and he became livid and demanded to meet me immediately. I had him meet me at the same time as Mr. B, the engineer who promptly asked him to prove that he had backfilled as suggested by the report and advised me not to pay him for services not rendered. This enraged JD, who promptly called the police. I tried to drive off, but JD blocked my car from leaving. but JD blocked my car from leaving. The engineer filmed this incident, and I called 911 on his suggestion. I feel that the way this company responded to my concern was extremely unprofessional and find their business conduct to be untrustworthy.

Called JD to get have him run a camera through the sewer line to pinpoint some leaks. He was able to come on short notice and was right on time which is not always common with plumbers. It turned out the entire system had to be replaced. Precision Plumbing turned out to have the best prices by far of all of the quotes I received. I scheduled the work and it was completed without a hitch. He and his crew got everything done within a week and even did a great job cleaning up after themselves. They had to break the slab in a couple places to replace pipe but once they were done you couldn't even tell they had ever been there. I was not in town when the work was being completed however JD kept me up to date on their progress each day through email and phone calls. He also worked with me on a payment plan which was nice because there is no way I could afford to pay for everything at one time. I would highly recommend Precision Plumbing for any of your plumbing needs. Their service is great and the prices are much lower than a lot of the big name competitors. Precision Plumbing will definitely be my first call whenever I have any plumbing issues in the future!
