Elliott MIsael Perez was very fast to ask for his initial deposit and his final check but in-between was excruciatingly slow. Initially, in our written agreement with him, he was supposed to have the cabinetry ready within 6 weeks. We had a couple of changes, for which he charged us and we happily paid. However, the changes we asked for should have taken another week by his own admission but instead the cabinets were not ready for inspection until over 4 months later. Although we had delays in the project, his part of the project was delayed WELL beyond an acceptable amount, even with the delays in our project. When we checked his "references" initially we were told that "I would not use him in a production environment because he's really slow, but he does decent work." We agree that his work was decent, not great, but decent but he was very slow, extremely unpleasant to work with, rude, and completely failed to respond when called about the project or a status. There were weeks between communications sometimes and he always had an excuse. The work itself was OK, but instead of using rift cut white oak on the face fronts as well as the doors and exposed edges, he cheated and used it only on the doors. Also, even though he had the exact measurements of the farmhouse sink we specified, the sink cabinet was cut too large and too deep so the sink would not fit properly. Beyond this, he was told and agreed to in our contract that he was responsible for the final dimensions and measurements of the final product fitting the space/etc. instead of measuring and looking at the plans, he build too many cabinets and said we had to buy back the extra cabinet (which we did). When it was time for his final payment, he still had not sprayed and finished the cabinets or put on the handles/etc. Instead he said he had but when we inspected it, he hadn't. When we refused to pay him because he hadn't completed the work, he threatened to file a mechanic's lien even though we didn't owe him anything until he was 100% completed. He lied about several issues, and was impossible to work with. I would not recommend Perez Cabinetry unless you have a year to spare waiting on your cabinets being completed, installed, and finished properly.
