Fred's Garage Doors

Technician arrived on time on the same day that I called for service. He repaired the broken spring in one of my doors, but he then analyzed that both doors needed reinforcing (one already had already begun failing). He recognized that the tracks for both my doors were uneven and not square. He fixed these issues. Next he repaired faulty switch wiring on one door operator and realigned the operator. Finally he lubricated the wheels on both doors. The doors operated better than when they were new 10 years ago.

Called and described what I needed. They gave me an estimate over the phone which turned out to be exactly what it ended up to be. Came within an hour as they had estimated. Work took less than a hour. Man was courteous, neat and performed the work quickly.

Our double garage door no longer moved up or down. The motor still ran, but the door would not move. I called Fred's Garage Door & Opener, Inc. When I described the problem, they offered a possible diagnosis over the phone. They said it sounded like stripped gears and if this were the case, the cost would be in the $120.00 - $150.00 range. I set up an appointment for Fred to come out the next morning. He arrived on time. He confirmed that the opener did indeed have a stripped gear and said it would cost $120.00 to repair. He changed the gear and had me look at the old one to see how it had deteriorated, the teeth on it were in shreds. He adjusted everything on the door (speed, tension, etc.). He showed me that it was now working perfectly. Then, very importantly, he cleaned all the debris that had fallen onto the garage floor from out of the box he had to open to replace the gear. His invoice was for exactly $120.00. The door is working perfectly, thanks to Fred's knowledge and professionalism.

Called Mr. Kimbell around 9:00 PM and he came out the next morning. He promptly fixed the door and did an inspection.

My garage door jumped off track at 7pm and, luckily I got the door closed so the contents would be secure. I called Fred at 9am the next day and he said that he could get there by noon. At my request, he called me 20 minutes before he would arrive so I could drive from my office to the house. He arrived before me and had all ready begun diagnosing the problems. I thought that several parts would need to be replaced but he was able to repair the existing parts and save me money.

I called this company because they had glowing remarks from previous Angie's List customers and found that the glowing comments were well-deserved. This guy was fantastic! As I pulled into the garage about 2PM and closed the door the main spring on the metal garage door snapped (broke). The door is simply too heavy for one person to raise, so we were literally trapped without any useable car (both cars in the garage). I called Fred and he was at our house in less than an hour and in less than an hour later the door was fixed and working more quietly and smoother than it has in a long time. He explained a couple of future problems that might crop up and oiled all the rollers. I have already promised him that we will be using him in the near future when we plan to replace the door. He is an honest guy, prompt, thorough, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced (I think - I didn't shop around).

Robert wasted no time. He informed me what I needed, showed me why, and what it would cost to replace my old unit. He wasted no words and no time. Excellent service!

Excellent - one of the springs broke on an early Saturday afternoon as Ike was pummeling Houston, and no one else I called from Angie's list was available. Fred told me they would be out first thing Monday AM and to open the door manually, and prop it open long enough to get the cars out. That was easier said than done, but we did it, and the storm wasn't too bad here, so I wasn't worried about the cars being damaged. Roberto was right on time, gave me an exact quote that was about what I paid to have one spring replaced just over a year ago (supposed to replace in pairs). He finished the job quickly and cleanly.

As the garage door was closing we heard a very loud noise. After looking around the garage we saw that the garage door spring had broken. there was no way we could open the garage door, and both cars were in the garage. I called Fred's Garage Door and Opener and while I got a recorded message, the message indicated that someone was getting paged as I was leaving a message. The call was returned in about 20 minutes and we were told someone would be at the house in 1 to 1 1/2 hours, which they were. The service person recommended replacing the one spring with two so if one of them broke, we would still be able to open the door. The cost difference for the extra spring was $30. The work was completed in about an hour and completed very capably.

It went great. Fred's gave us the lowest price when we called around for estimates. The technician was on time and installed the springs quickly. He took the time to answer other questions that my husband had about the garage door and motor.

He was on time to do the job. He was professional. He was courteous and kind. He was responsive. The quality of his work was good. I would use him in the future. He is personable.

I wanted to have a garage door opener installed for my daughter's 16th birthday. I received a call back almost immediately from my email and received a quote over the phone. They came out the next Saturday (I called on Wednesday) and did the work. The weekend was my preference and they rearranged their schedule to fit mine. Roberto did our installation. He was early and very professional. He did the install to perfection, didn't make a bit of a mess, and was so nice. He was done in about 1 hour. I paid the amount quoted and am so happy! The opener is so quiet! My only worry is that I won't hear if my daughter sneaks out at night! ;)

Great, I called they gave me an estimate over the phone. I decided to go ahead based on reports on Angie's List and their price seemed competitive. They came when they said they would. The installer got right to work, worked steady and seemed to know exactly what he was doing. Cleaned up and removed all the old door and runners to haul away. I am very happy with the door so far.

I called Fred on Saturday, and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. He did the work Monday morning, then called me to let me know he was done. He quoted me a price over the phone and deducted the $10 Angie's List coupon. Everything worked properly when I returned home, and there was no mess.

My garage door had stopped responding to the remotes, which I felt compromised my personal safety. Fred's Garage Door was simply awesome in their response. When I called, he told me he was working close by and would be here in approximately a half-hour. He was here in 20 minutes! He quickly and efficiently did what was necessary for the repair. He gave me a new remote and even reprogrammed the built-in remote in my car without my even asking. He seems to be content to build his business by giving such good service he will be able to count on repeat customers and word of mouth rather than the quick score. He made no effort to sell me any additional services. I will happily call Fred when it is time to replace or repair or service any component of my garage door and I am delighted to refer anyone to him.

Sent Fred an email asking for an estimate, and he responded back very quickly. I accepted the estimate and Fred was able to schedule the replacement the following Monday. Robert did the installation and hauled away the old parts. Robert was extremely polite, worked very hard, and left my garage cleaner than it was before he started.

Fred called back almost instantly. He and his crew arrived earlier than agreed, quickly assessed the problem, provided his recommendation and estimate. Work was completed in a reasonable amount of time. I'm extremely satisfied with the work performed. Fred and his team cleaned up after themselves (much appreciated since most contractors do not understand that cleanup after the job can often make a good experience a GREAT one). I will definitely recommend this company to friends and will call again when additional work is required. Many thanks, Fred.

Fred's did a great job! I called at 8:30am. Monday. They said they could be at my house between 10-12 that morning. The technician showed up at 10:45. The job was complete in 1 hour. Fred's charged $150 to replace the spring and $140 to replace the sprocket, plus they gave me a $20 discount for finding them on Angie's List.

Made appointment around 5 PM day before. Scheduled to arrive between 9 and 10 AM. Roberto arrived about 9:30 and finished in one hour. Definitely knew what he was doing. Garage door works perfectly.
