Fred's Garage Doors

My garage door's cable (one one side has come off the spool). I called the homeowner's warranty company. They don't cover it but their contractor quoted me $60 (trade fee)+$170=$230. I googled and discovered that it should cost less. Called Fred's Garage doors after checking the list. They gave me an appt within 2 hours. Roberto came on time and fixed the problem. He didn't try to sell me anything even though the garage door is several decades old. When I need to replace the door I'm calling Fred's.

I used Angie's List to find a repair company for my garage door. I called Fred's and they came out the next day, on time and completed the repairs and service in about 2 hours. The estimate was exactly what I paid. The service man was polite and answered all my questions and took the time to explain anything I was unsure about.

The service was excellent in all aspects. The repairman was prompt and attentive -- goal to provide excellent service. He was there for approximately 1.5 - 2 hours. The garage door was approximately 20 years old and had been neglected. He indicated the cost up front and the final cost did not change. He repaired a small part. Reconditioned all moving parts. Installed a button on the wall to raise/lower door. Even offered to put a new bulb in. Runs like new.

Problem occured on Saturday afternoon. Called them Saturday afternoon and set up an appointment for between 8:30 and 9:00 am Monday morning. They showed up on time and repaired problem to our satistaction in about an hour.

Roberto was very nice and efficient. He took time to explain the options to me: repairing or replacing the system. We went with replacing the entire system and made sure he was aware that since we have an HOA the door had to be similar to what we currently had. He arrived (with the correct door) within the time frame promised and got right to work. Roberto showed me how to properly operate the system answering all of the questions I had regarding it . I love the look of the new system and was amazed at how quietly it opens and closes. Great job!!!

When I called, Fred arranged a time convenient for me, and was a little early in arriving. Fred decided that 2 panels needed to be replaced and then opened the door so I could get the car out. When he did that, the panels straightened out quite a bit so he suggested braces instead - a much cheaper option. He arranged a time for the worker to come and take care of it later that day. Robert came in the promised time window and quickly did all the needed work. He also oiled the tracks.

Great. He was very polite, courteous, and eager to help me fix my problem with the door.

He arrived at the time promised..looked at the problem and felt that it was just an adjustment problem. After he had worked on the door a while, he decided I needed and part replaced also. The door works like new and the charge, I felt, was reasonable.

I noticed one of our garage doors had excessive squeaking even though we had lubricated it several times. Roberto arrived on time and told me why the door was squeaking excessively. He then was able to replace the old plastic rollers on both doors with new high quality nylon (ball-bearing) rollers. These rollers are much quieter and will last for 15-20 years. They only require lubricant once a year due to the ball-bearings. He also adjusted the track since he noticed that it was not very smooth in certain places. The garage door opens much more smoothly and quietly now, so I'm a happy camper.

Contractor arrived on time and completed work (replacing carriage) in about 20 minutes. He also oiled some of the existing parts, which made it noticably quieter to open/shut garage door. Was willing and able to answer all questions.

The service was great. They were responsive, punctual, and were easy to work with. I would recommend them to others.

He was prompt in doing the work for me. He finished it the same day that he came to look at it. It was really good for me. He finished it in 1 hour. There was some problem with the door, but he came right out to fix it. He completed it very quickly, and he didn?t even charge me anything for that. He did the work well and his price was good.

Fred promptly returned my message regarding our problem garage door, spoke with my husband on the phone about the problem, and arranged for his employee, Roberto, to come in the next couple of hours. Roberto assessed the problem and gave us options, including replacing the whole door, replacing one panel, or replacing the strut and adjusting the springs- which we decided was the best option for us. He initially said it would be $180, but reduced the estimate to $160 after talking to his boss on the phone. He spent an hour or less and had the door working great. He even oiled all moving parts and grooves, leaving it sliding better than it has in a long time.

Found Fred's Garage company on Angie's list. Based on rating, I called company. Sceduled at my convenience. Roberto was dispatched. He arrived on time and prepared to work. He assessed the situation & stated he could fix it. He quoted $79.50. He cmpleted the repair & asked if I was satisfied. I was & gladly paid the 79.50. Excellent home repair experience.

Not only did Fred show up on time he performed my service work quickly and professionally. I even had him add a garage door opener ? which took all of 5 minutes. This was my first experience with Angie?s List ? I?m blown away. Mr. Kimbrell?s reviews were excellent and that is why I chose him. I would use and refer this gentleman anytime.

Garage door had come off the tracks, was at a 30 degree angle...a mess! This was on Friday night when I called and spoke with Fred who said they did emegency repairs and could come out in the next 1/2 hour but would be an extra charge....no problem I said. Our car was in the garage and could not get out till fixxed so Fred came out, looked at the situation and said the reason it had come off was the large coiled spring was severed and thus not working. Long story short... they got the parts and came out the next morning between 6:30-7:00 am fixed and did so for a reasonable cost. I do a lot of my own repairs and this is one was well worth the price and the service was GREAT. Kudos to Fred and Manuel for a super job, I would not have known about them if it had not been for Angies List.

We got a firm price over the phone and arranged a time for the service call. The installer arrived when promised and installed the door. The installer made sure we understood our options and made sure we were happy with his work before leaving.

Much better price than comparable competitors. Was able to schedule repair the day after I called. Repair technician was right on time, did great work quickly. Technician also greased the track so the door ran much smoother. There was a small adjustment required a couple of weeks later; Fred's again responded immediately and took care of the problem with no issues. Outstanding people and great value!

Came home from work the night before to discover that the garage door would not open. Called Fred at 7:20 AM the next morning to request service. I was happy and surprised by the prompt service. The service rep was there within the hour! He spend 1 1/2 hours replacing the spring. Very quick and efficient.

I called the owner the afternoon of April 10, 2009 and explained that our garage door opener was not working. He had a technician out by 6:30 p.m on a Friday evening. He examined the old opener and suggested we replace it. This was in keeping with what we had been told before by another company who went ahead and tried to repair the old opener - after $300 we still had a broken garage door opener. Ricardo, the technician, returned on Monday, April 13 and installed the new opener. He took time to explain the different functions of the door. He was helpful, quick, efficient and neat.

Fred came out and fixed a recently-installed garage door of which the initial installer would not honor his warranty. I'm not supposed to reference that company, and I won't, but I really wish it was acceptable. Everyone in the community should know about the afore-mentioned company because of how awful they are. The guy said he would fix it for three months straight, give excuses, say someone was going to call, etc., leaving my garage door wide open because I don't have much money and was guaranteed a FIVE YEAR warranty. But enough about that j***, let's get to Fred. He came out the day after I called and fixed it in no time, fully-explained the problem, and gave me tips on preventative maintenance. He also gave me a 90 day warranty, and that's something I'll take to the bank. Fred was professional, friendly, and polite. While he didn't install anything and I can't speak for that, I strongly suggest you at least get a quote from him for your garage door needs. He's the only person I will use from now on.

We were scheduled at our earliest convenience. Roberto was very professonal and wasted no time in assessing and fixing the problem. Several things were wrong with the door: the track was bent and needed to be straigtened; hinges needed to be reattached better; Roberto had to grind some of the metal to maneuver it into place correctly. We also needed new openers since we were not given any. Roberto had some on hand that we could purchase and reprogrammed the opener. He also took out the old memory so that no one with an old opener could open the door to our house. Overall, Roberto was curteous, professional, and efficient. He had the door working in approximately 45 minutes. I was impressed.

Garage door repairs alway seem overpriced. This company did not take the expensive way out...they gave me great service and I will only call them in the future.

This was a great experience! I called them around 8:15 on a Saturday morning and a real person answered the phone. I told her what my problem was and she gave me an estimate over the phone. She said that Roberto would be at my rental property in about an hour. Roberto was on time, polite and very professional. He examined the motor and showed me what the problem was. He looked at the door and gave me suggestions. He had a job after meeting with me and advised that he would need to return. He told me he would be back between 11:00 and 12:00 and he was. The estimate he gave me for the parts and labor and the cost was actually less than quoted. Roberto was very knowledgable and told me that with the electronic door, I wouldn't need to replace the lock on the door. Once he finished replacing the wheels and the motor, he operated the door. It seemed to be catching so he listened to it and watched and of the 20 or so hinges on the door, he pinpointed the problem hinge and replaced it. No more catching. I was amazed. He was very efficient and cleaned up after he finished. He made sure that I knew how to operate the openers as well as the key lock. This was a great experience and I would recommend them. I plan to have them over to check the garage doors on my home.
