Description of Work: I can't say enough good things about this company. Our garage door wouldn't open and we needed someone to come out fast and fix it. Fred himself picked up the phone and was able to come by and look at it within the hour. He had his employee come out and change our motor and opening unit all during my lunch hour. Thanks Fred, yall helped us out a ton!

Description of Work: garage door had collapsed due to someone else's ineptitude (other workman) they restored it to a better condition than it had been in years. outstanding service very reasonable price ( I shopped around )

Description of Work: The large coiled spring that fits along the bar atop the garage door broke in two. Fred's answered the phone promptly and had someone out to repair my door quickly on a Monday morning. I called at about 8:15a, tech on site at 9:50a, spring replace by 10:15a. I have no complaints other than the price seemed just a touch high. From what I can tell, the springs cost about $30 meaning $165 was for 20 minutes or so of labor, travel, and administrative expense. I would call around for quotes and try to neotiate the price down a bit if you are not in a pinch.

Description of Work: I had a spring break on my garage door and Fred's was able to come out that afternoon. I was so surprised that I wouldn't have to wait a day or two to have it fixed. He was very prompt and fixed the problem quickly. He also identified a potential problem with keeping chlorine in the garage because it rusts the spring. I have use Fred's before and will use them again.

Description of Work: I ASSUMED I NEEDED A NEW GARAGE DOOR OPENER, A PRICE WAS QUOTED AND HE INDICATED THAT THEY COULD COME THE SAME DAY. WHEN NATE, THE SERVICE PROFESSIONAL CAME, HE SAID, LET'S SEE IF WE CAN REPAIR THE OLD ONE, WHICH HE COMPLETELY SERVICE TO THE MAX AND GOT IT WORKING JUST FINE. SAVED ME SEVERAL HUNDED DOLLARS.

Description of Work: I had a squeaky clunky 2 year old overhead garage door that needed maintenance service. We called Fred's and he darn near dropped what he was doing to come over and preform the service. Now when he arrived, I was not there and my wife was. She was not too aware of what was needed but she said that Fred was very clear spoken and professional. Fred didn't think the door was that bad off and tightened, oiled and adjusted a few thngs and was done. The door was still a little noisy when he was leaving but said that the door will quiet down and be OK the next day. I was skeptical but it turns out he was right and the door is working great. I read a lot of reviews in choosing Fred to come service our door. I realized why he got so many great reviews and so many happy clients. Thanks Fred. Mr. James.

Description of Work: Had Fred's out in September 2011 when my garage door came partially off the tracks. Was pleased with the response time and cost. In May 2012 the same thing happened, so had them out again to fix it. They came within 2 hours of my call, and charged $75 to fix the problem. He replaced a brace holding the track, and checked balance and alignment. Said it would fix the problem. The next night the door came off again. I called Fred's, and was told they were closed memorial day but would come the next morning. They did, and recommended $700 to replace the entire door, tracks, everything. I couldn't do all of that, so they suggested replacing all the tracks for $300. I asked if they would apply the $75 I had just paid towards the work, and was told he would apply $50. He was willing to knock another $10 off for the Angie's list coupon. I've been pleased with the work, but wished they would have diagnosed the problem correctly the first time, or applied the entire first payment towards the eventual work.

Description of Work: When I called, I got a message that they were being paged. Someone responded within 15 min. and this was after hours. They came out, fixed the problem and returned for a minor tune-up. Good service.

Description of Work: I called Freds after recommendations on Angie's List. The tech showed up 2 hours later and proceeded to diagnose the problem. After spending some time disassemblingthe unit he diagnosed it as needing a new motor. I asked him if he had one and he said no but could get one. I got my Genie Garage Door owner manual and called Genie as I have a lifetime warranty on the motor. They indicated to me that the problem probably was not the motor. It could be the controller and asked me if a green light was blinking on the controller. I did not happen to notice that when he had the unit open so I asked him if the light was blinking. He said yes but obviously that was not the truth because if it was he should have known that was the problem. I told him I would order one from Genie and he could come back and install it for me. He said OK and left. I called Genie back and they wanted me to go through some self help to diagnose the problem. After several instructions I found out that the unit started working properly. The problem was the wall mounted switch which they offered to send me one.I wish I had talked to them instead of dealing with this guy who appeared not to know much. His english was hard to understand but I sure feel let down that Fred's with all of the A ratings on Angie's List would send someone who wanted to sell me a new motor. I wish I could remember his name but he arrived here at my home at about 11:AM.I would never recommend Fred's to anyone after this debacle and I hope they take steps to either better train their techs or I would hope they weren't trying to sell me something I didn't need.

Description of Work: Repaired garage door. The spring had broken so we could not open it. He arrived surprisingly prompt after I called. We had a few minor communication problems as his native language was not English; however, his young son came with him and translated ocassionally. He seemed very knowledgeable and experienced in his craft, and gave me details of what was wrong and what caused the problem. He explained that the spring broke because of a dent in the door (which I had not noticed before). The dent was probably caused by a thrown ball we concluded. As the repair was on going, I went into the house. When I went back to check progress, I found that the boy was going through our "stuff" in the garage. We have a lot of things, pretty much worthless, except for the good memories they bring us. So that is the main negative that I had - that he allowed his son to rummage thru our stuff. Since the boy had told me he was out of school because of holidays, this is probably a non issue for future customers. Other than that issue, I was pleased with his work. As for price, I have no idea if it was reasonable, but we were certainly glad to be able to use the garage again. One more comment, - I could not find a receipt, and since I did not find an entry in the checkbook or credit card, he may have asked to be paid by cash. The cost was either $200 or $210 as I recall.

Description of Work: The huge coil on our door snapped. I called Fred Monday mid-morning. He walked me through my options (1 coil versus 2) and the total price for each. 2 coils costs $40 more and decided on this since having only one coil was a huge pain to get the door up after it popped. (So if it pops again there is another coil intact and it won't be a nightmare to get the door up.) He had a guy to my house within ONE HOUR! He was very nice and professional. He took care of the repair and even replaced faulty wall pad for no charge that's been irritating us for a long time. WONDERFUL service experience and I can't get over how quickly they got here.

Description of Work: I had a broken garage door spring. Fred's was very fast. The repairman came in about an hour and was through in less than 30 minutes. Much appreciated. Iffy for me: A little confusion about telephone estimate because 2 springs together looked like one to me. I wish he had made sure I knew what I had because it made sense to replace both springs, raising the price from $180 to $220. Also, the springs used were a very different diameter coil. I was assured it was fine because the wire was the same. I just had to take their word for it. Four days later, it works fine & is even a little quieter. They cheerfully took the $10 off Angie's List coupon making it $210, but I still thought the price was a bit high.

Description of Work: About 3 wks before calling Fred's I noticed a strange, new, sound had developed when I opend/closed the garage door...sounded as if it was going to break, or fall, and the noise got worse. So, I called Fred's. Fred said someone would come between noon and one...he called about 15 minutes before noon to let me know someone was on the way. Nathan arrived on time, he identified the problems (bend/warp in the sheet metal & weak support for length of door). The price quoted was the price paid, even though he had to do a couple extra things. That price included a couple of support bars/braces (18ft wide), removing and readjusting another support bar, greese to the 'wheels', and adjusting the garage 'motor' itself. The door is now as quiet as it used to be & goes up & down smoothly. He was courteous, knowledgeable and fixed the problem all within a reasonable time frame (that same afternoon). When I got ready to pay, he reminded me about my discount coupon (from Angie's) that I'd mentioned when I'd called. A positive experience.

Description of Work: They answered their phone in person right away and came out within a couple of hours. They replaced the broken hardware with stronger materials so we won't have the same problem again. Very courteous and capable. I would definitely call them again.

Description of Work: Fred responded first thing the morning after i submitted request the evening before. Came out within an hour and successfully diagnosed my opener problems and got them all working again and coded with the vehicles and provided quote to replace GDO should i decide to do so in the future. He was VERY responsive and courteous. Will call him first next time i need work on the garage door or openers.
