The project lasted three months, went $10,000 over budget, and took 30 days longer than scheduled. First of all I would like to say that I would not recommend Blazerwolf for any interior home improvement projects, especially flooring and plumbing projects. The exterior and attic portions of my project went very well and I am happy with the results. Unfortunately, I have had several problems with the interior work and all have been related to poor workmanship of the installer. The plumbing work was very novice. The plumber used by Blazerwolf ended up going out of business very soon after my project so I was not able to have him fix installation problems. I have had small issues like new drains leaking all the way up to large issues like a major leak in my roof where the plumber did not properly seal the new air intake needed for the new tankless hot water heater. My most costly problems, though, are with the new floors. Blazerwolf installed new bamboo flooring in 80% of the living area of the house. They also installed new floor tile in two bath rooms, so I had about 90% of my entire house re-floored at a cost of $11,000 for the bamboo portion and $3,000 for the bathrooms (labor and materials). To my total dismay, only 11 months after the flooring installation, all the bamboo flooring is now ruined and the bathroom tile needs to be re-grouted. A professional flooring expert was hired to review the cause of the ruined floor and determined Blazerwolf improperly installed the moisture barrier that goes between the foundation and the bamboo. It was also determined that the bathroom floors were not properly prepped and sealed before installing the tile, causing the grout to discolor. I contacted Blazerwolf to have them fix this issue but they have decided to wash their hands of it. Blazerwolf says it is no longer their problem because their one year labor warranty has expired. I tried to explain to them that this problem started at the point of the installation and was discovered after 11 months, within their warranty period. They have since stopped all communication with me. Their last correspondence was an e-mail with an imbedded attached virus. It was very immature to add insult to injury. It appears Blazerwolf is not going to honor their warranty and fix their installation error. I will obviously not be using this company for any future projects and I would encourage the same for anyone looking to have interior work performed. They do good work for exterior projects but if you have a problem do not expect them to honor their warranty. 2/25/11: Typical General Contractor response from Blazerwolf who is claiming it?s not their problem because they do not ?employ? the sub-contractors. You can also note the tone of the response from Blazerwolf, who uses personal attacks and rhetoric to try to distract from the main points. After this complaint reached Blazerwolf I was contacted by e-mail from them, not to try and find a workable solution, but to continue the rhetoric and personal attack outside of this forum. The main points that Blazerwolf has tried to deflect from are 1) The flooring did look really good right after it was installed so there was praise given. Unfortunately the root of the problem occurred where it could not be visually discovered, under the bamboo flooring at the moisture barrier. 2) A professional flooring inspector was hired and reviewed the problem. The professional (not me) said the moisture barrier was improperly installed, leading to the failure of the bamboo flooring. Lastly I would like to mention that Blazerwolf stated I have refused to negotiate with them. I have yet to be contacted by Blazerwolf to negotiate any cost to repair my floor. In fact, in my last e-mail to them (sent before I decided to post this issue on Angie?s List) I stated ?I am sure we can work something out that is cost effective to everyone. Looking forward to hearing from (flooring installer).? At this point it appears Blazerwolf is not going to assist with fixing their flooring installation mistake so I will need to hire a real flooring professional. I'll be using Angie's List this time to locate a reputable company.
Description of Work: Blazerwolf performed a full remodel of my house which included major items like new living area floors (1800 sqft), new bathroom floors, two bathroom remodels, and exterior re-facing with Hardi Board. The project also involved items such as blowing additional attic insulation and installing a radiant barrier cover in the attic. I also had a new tankless hot water heater installed, new plumbing fixtures, and they also did some interior wall and ceiling work. Overall Blazerwolf performed work on just about every part of my house.

Response from Blazerwolf Construction Services
Responce is paragraph for paragraph. The Member has presented the facts incorrectly! A “Cost Plus” contract was signed on February 21st, 2009 and final payment was made by Prime Lending on April 17th, 2009. Under the terms of the contract on page one of the contract in the Project Description clause it plainly states; “Contractor agrees to complete the following changes to the house on the above-described real estate substantially in with the Scope of Work as described in the contract, time limits for completion as specified in required building permits or as specified ” otherwise”. I full inspection of the work was conducted by the lender and was deemed to have been completed properly by the Lender’s inspector before final payment was made. The total number of days from start to finish was 55 days including weekends, holidays and any non-scheduled working days. Eight (8) of those days were Sundays of which no work was performed leaving 47 days of actual working days that work could be done by Sub-Contractors. The Date of Completion as stated by the Lender, Prime Lending, was April 24th, 2009 a full before the completion date. As to the job running $10,000 over budget, the Member has once again mis-stated the facts. The original “Estimate” that was submitted to the lender was $33, 747.40. The final cost of the project was $44,784.68 some $11,037.28 more than the estimate which was due to changes, upgrades and additional materials and labor that was required and selected by the customer. On page three (3) of the contract under Contract Type, of which two (2) types of contract are offered, the Member selected the “Cost Plus” contract over the “Fixed” price contract so as to forgo the Typical Contingency Fees and Profits that are generally associated with the Fixed price contact. In addition to the “Cost Plus Addendum” that the Member signed specifically stating that he understood that all costs in excess of the estimate was the sole responsibility of the customer, he also initialed the paragraph on page 4 of the contract stating the he understood and agreed to the following conditions of the contract: “Make requested changes as described in estimate and associated plans and as directed by the homeowner. Homeowner understands that this contract is a “Cost Plus Contract” as described in Informational Exhibit B attached to this contract or a Fixed Cost Contract as checked above. In the event that the homeowner elects a Fixed Cost Contract, all change orders will be executed in writing and all expenses associated with the change order will be paid to the contractor in advance.” Once again the Member presents a false picture and claims poor workmanship, however at the time the job was completed and inspected by the lender both of whom OK’ed the workmanship, they even praised the sub-contractor installer for what a fine job he had performed without which final payment would have been withheld. As a General Contractor with no actual employees and as stated on page 3 of the contract the homeowner understands that “The Contractor will provide services or repairs to the Owners residence as outlined in the “Scope of Work” section of the contract and contractor will charge a fee for the supervision and construction of the project, which will be done according to the specifications and plans provided by the homeowner.” The Member fully understood that all work performed would be performed by licensed sub-contractors and that all licensed sub-contractors were required to be in good standing by the State of Texas. The sub-contractor in this case was a fully licensed and insured “Master” plumber with the state. Blazerwolf Construction Services has no control over any subcontractor and is not responsible for the Master plumber going out of business. In addition the Member never advised us that any problem existed until such time that he made a warranty claim for flooring stated below. The Member being a professional engineer apparently cannot calculate percentages properly or he just wishes to exaggerate the faces and states that we installed new flooring in 80% of his 2291 square feet home. In actually we installed 1361 SF of Flooring installed which is far less than 80%! To my total dismay, only 11 months after the flooring installation, all the bamboo flooring is now ruined and the bathroom tile needs to be re-grouted. Once again the facts are distorted by the Member! We were not informed of any problem concerning the Member flooring until well after our contractual warranty period of one year. First off the Member did not hire a professional flooring expert! The flooring expert was dispatched by Lumber Liquidators as a result of the Member warranty claim against them. The Member is dissatisfied with the denial Lumber Liquidators made concerning his warranty claim. Their denial was based on the fact that the Member had an unknown leakage problem underneath his foundation that resulted in the failure of his flooring, not on any workmanship on the part of the installer. This is just another the Member fails to point out in this ridiculous diatribe on his part. This is a totally false statement! the Member was informed by the sub-contractor installer that he would be more than happy to re-grout his bath room floor; however he would be responsible for additional labor as his claim was well past the warranty period. The Member refused to negotiate labor costs with the sub-contractor over the additional cost of labor. Blazerwolf Construction Services is not contractually responsible top negotiate labor costs between a sub-contractor and the customer well after the warranty period. Once again the Member is making un-founded allegations and false statements! We have responded to all his inquiries and have stated on several occasions by the subcontractor that he would be more than happy to resolve these issues. We have never sent any e-mail with any imbedded virus! I would not even know how to do such a thing anyway. There were no errors made by Blazerwolf Construction services in respect to the Member warranty claims. The Member is disgruntled due to his warranty claim being refused and does not want to pay for the labor to correct his flooring problem. As for our company refusing to honor our warranties this is totally untrue and we have always honored bona fide warranty requests even after the warranty period has expired.
