Island Mann Plumbing and Drain Cleaning

The worst experience I’ve had with a contractor! They do not care! Know one who works there will call me. It’s been 3 months and 4 days since AHS hired them to fix my two faucets and one toilet and all they do is tell AHS that they have ordered the parts. Are they in a row boat coming from China?? If that’s that’s the case they should just communicate that to me with a phone call, text or email. Raymond the owner obviously does NOT CARE about customers as he’s allowed this to go on for 3 months + Beware that they call to solicit your business by offering a free inspection of your plumbing, which is how I got involved with them, and then they want to sell you a monthly $15 program to get a 10 percent discount for future repairs and supplies. They immediately tried to sell me a new water heater when it was perfectly fine. I wish they’d never contacted me because all the stress that I’ve endured because and money I’ve paid out and gotten absolutely no response to my repairs.

Island Mann Plumbing charged me for work that was not performed and not required by the city inspector in connection with replacing 2 water heaters. They refused to give me a refund when I called it to their attention. I would not trust them.

Island Mann came out to fix breaks after the freeze. More breaks happened during fix process, so I bought a vertical re-pipe. More breaks after that and so I bought the rest of a whole house re-pipe. The two re-pipe guys were generally prompt, cleaned up pretty well after themselves and did a careful job. Pricing for the re-pipe was very reasonable (especially since it took more than two weeks) but the pricing to replace the tub faucets was high.

They sent a plumber with no experience, he couldn’t find the leak and was about to leave without fixing the problem. I had to tear Sheetrock off and take wet insulation off to find the leak for him. Then when he supposedly fixed the leak, he left it worst than before luckily I didn’t install the insulation and Sheetrock or I would have spent even more. To make matters worst, they sent the same plumber back and still didn’t fix the problem. The owner supposedly Ray called me back stating that he trusts his plumber when I told him he was not very smart. I recommend not using this plumbing company. Bad service, bad customer service, and not qualified plumber at all.

I am disappointed in this company and the way they handle business. They completely misrepresented me to my insurance company with no remorse. And their technician has been dishonest through this whole process. They were called out because my garbage disposal was jammed. Before he walked in, I dropped a piece of plastic wrapping into the sink itself because it had fell in from the drink I opened. He called my insurance company and said there were foreign objects in my disposal. And they denied my claim. When I confronted him about it, he said he was referring to the plastic and there was no way the plastic in the sink could have jammed my disposal as it clearly fell off my top. I asked, then why would you note that there are foreign objects in my disposal? This is a gross misrepresentation of the situation. He said my claim was denied for some other reason, "he thinks". This is unfortunate and not how they should treat a potential customer. Of course, he is no longer answering his phone as I am asking that he calls my insurance company and explain his notes. I would NOT suggest you use this company.

When we first got a quote from one of the Island Mann technicians, it was going to run around $5,800 to have a new sewer line installed. We were advised to apply to the city first to have a main sewer line installed so we could tap into it. They could then dig and install a new sewer line from under our house to the new line in the street. When the city finally installed the new sewer main, a different Island Mann technician came out to evaluate what we would need and give us a firm quote. The city actually suggested a shorter route so there was less trench to be dug and pipe installed. THE NEW QUOTE WAS $23,000. We are two sisters over the age of 65. I guess they thought we were inept and foolish enough to fall for this. We just laughed and told him no thanks. He then said he could knock off $5000???? (he is the technician who says have a Blessed Day). I think he wanted us to buy him a new car. We called several more companies and ended up using a company who came all the way from Conroe. Their quote was $7,200. Needless to say, we hired them. I would not recommend Island Mann for anything except a very simple sewer clean out. I really hate to leave negative reviews as I know I would never hire a company with this type of reputation. Unfortunately, we have found that we often have to go off the island to hire reputable craftsmen who do not overcharge.

More than disappointing experience. I needed to have shower faucets / fixtures replaced. This would call for the H2O being shut off, and possibly requiring soldering of the valve in the wall behind the shower. I understand. That's why I wanted a licensed, insured, professional. All of the above information about the water needing to be shut off (which requires my HOA to send advance notice to owners and shut off the water for the ENTIRE building), was relayed to the intake department. Multiple times. After many efforts to coordinate, we finally agreed upon a water off window and work window. It was 10AM - 2PM. I took off a day from work. The plumber showed up at 2:30. In spite of me saying the office would work with us up until 5PM to get the shower fixtures replaced, he clearly wasn't interested in doing the job, and said it wouldn't be done before 5PM, therefore he would not start. He did want to get payment though. I asked what he thought it was that I should pay him for. So then he said we could schedule the work to be done and I would need to pay 50% down. OK. So after several calls and further coordination, we came up with a date and time almost a week later. I paid 50% of the almost $700 estimate (yes, to change out my shower fixtures!). So I again had my HOA send out a water shut off notice, made work arrangements, and was prepared to meet the plumber today. I got a call 30 minutes before their appointed start time saying that the plumber could not make it today. He had car trouble. Nothing could be done, I was told. Really? A plumbing company can't round up a plumber scheduled a week in advance to change out my shower fixtures for $700. When I said this was unacceptable, and that I needed to have my prior payment refunded, I was given the run-around. I have to threaten to report them as fraudulent and cancel the credit card payment in order to get them to agree to refund my money. SO DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR: CALL ANOTHER PLUMBING COMPANY.

Galveston experienced a few freezes recently. During this, we did well through two day and on the third day, no water. I crawled under the house and noticed a broken pipe with water pouring out. Went to the street and turned off the supply. Called Island Mann and set up an appointment as several did that day. When the plumber finally arrived the following Monday, I showed him the damage and he informed me there would be a charge to perform an estimate. I reluctantly agreed since this hadn't been discussed, and after all, by this time, it was an emergency and we had not had water for two days. After somewhat looking around under the house, he did not crawl under as several other plumbers had in the past, he told me he had to turn on the water to verify the leak at the pipe I had showed him. I went to turn on the water with my plumbing tool in my hand, he rushed past me and turned it on with his, then told me there was an extra $40 charge for turning off/on the water. Nice little scam there. After turning on the water and seeing it flow under the house he decided to write up and estimate for almost $9000.00. He said he wouldn't touch my plumbing without replacing the whole plumbing on the house. All the while, smiling, telling me when filling out the estimate "this is going to make my boss VERY happy". I once again asked the "plumber" can you just fix the broken pipe which he refused. So, I ended up getting a plumber who refused to work in an emergency situation, refused to crawl under a house, and charged me $90 to do nothing. After talking to several friends in the Galveston area, I have heard that this is a standard practice with them. Needless to say, I didn't hire them nor will I ever support this business or recommend them to a friend on the island. All other estimates to fix my water emergency ran between $300 and $500 dollars and did a professional job or repair.

Like much of Galveston had burst pipes during the recent freeze. Island Mann arrived quickly and diligently worked to fix all the problems, even when the damage was much more extensive than I hoped, all at a fair price. Highly recommend.

Hi, my name is Jennifer and my pipes froze on 1/16/18. I rec’d 2 pro quotes - one for Quality Plumbing and the other from Island Mann Plumbing. Quote 1 - 1/17/18 Pipes still frozen but thawing rapidly. Island Mann Plumbing - Rep comes out in clean clothes at end of day after being pushed from a 12-2 slot to after 4pm: “so what did you break?” and then I get lectured because I didn’t drip my faucets hard enough but he was a pretty cool person in the end. Never really got under the house, just barely glanced. Created quote & specifically stated several times that the absolute best case scenario is $1113.00 to fix what he sees but when pipes thaw fully it might be worse . Worst case not a peny more than $9,145.00. Charges $49.00 for quote which does come off any services they end up doing because pipes had to thaw. (FYI this is standard practice and common sense. I have no issue with that.) 2nd Quote - Quality Plumbing slammed so can’t make it next day (1/19). Pipes all thawed. Same small leak. Nicest people on the phone and in person from 1st call to instant follow-up once the job was done. Easy to read quote, and no judgement. Went immediately and crawled under house after I showed them pictures of the leaks I was able to take. Gave a range of options and the difference in price from best case was: $120 to repair / $3500 to repipe maybe another 1200-2k more if under the ground there are major issues. Total Savings by choose Quality Plumbing: $993.00 TODAY / (in future) $5,645 - $3,645 ($3500 repipe & up to $2k more if underground damage found). Also did I say how nice they were? They just felt like they were there to win a lifelong customer, not just see how much they could get out of this one job if they pushed it. They won my business!!!!!!

Showed up incredibly quickly, gave a reasonable quote in writing first, and did the work. We have water again. Thanks Andrew! Also, the lady who answered the phone (Rose) was very helpful and professional. Great experience all around. Second time using them.

Island Mann plumbing is great. Justin came out to give us an estimate on repairing a leak at our vacation home in Jamaica Beach. In order to do the work he needed to coordinate with a contractor for the City of Jamaica Beach to shut off the water. Unfortunately they were never able to get together before Harvey arrived. We ended up having the city contractor do the work because it was easier than trying to do the coordination. We were billed for the visits, which we thought amounted to too much. Raymond was willing to work with us to resolve this issue. We will definitely call Island Mann in the future if the need arises. Oh and all this happened while we were out of state.

Nick really knew what he was doing. I never felt pressured or that he was trying to "upsell" unnecessary work. He was great about answering all of my questions and explaining his work as he went along. My contractor was trying to take the easy way out and Nick insisted that I correct the faucet issue (the shanks weren't long enough to properly attach the hoses) and I'm sure he saved me a flooding issue down the line. I would use them again hands down. It's fee for service as opposed to paying by the hour, which I think is more than fair!

Very well. They had to wait until the next day when they could get the parts (old fixture) but installed valves in order to let us have water on in the house until it was fixed.

It took about two hours. Ethan, the plumber, was very nice, professional, and came out quickly. The quality of the work was very high. Seemed a bit expensive, but plumbers are generally pretty expensive, and since the punctuality and professionalism were high, we would hire again. Also, our initial contact with the company was with Paula, who answered the phone. She was a delight!

I had called them yesterday, but wanted to check with the landlord. After receiving permission, called back and made an appointment. The sweet girl at the office gave me a time between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. She then called their technician, Nick, called me back and let me know it would be closer to 6:00p.m., which allowed me to go out and run errands instead of sitting around and waiting. Gosh, what a nice thing to do for the customer. Nick, the technician, called around 5:30, to let me know he would be there in approximately 15 minutes. He was right on time. He gave me the news of $99 for just using an auger, but if he had to pull the toilet, it would be an additional $179. I explained to him what we had done with a borrowed snake and after a few minutes he told me that he would try first with his auger, if that didn't work, he would pull the toilet. Well, this young man Nick, saved me the $179., as the auger worked. God bless him. I had just flown into Texas to get my youngest ready for college and the $179 he saved me was such a blessing. If we ever need a plumber in Galveston, I wouldn't use anyone else.

I attempted to install a shower head and new connecting pipe myself, but managed to sheer off the old one when trying to disconnect the it from the pipe joint in the wall. I piece of the old pipe was still in the thread of the pipe in the wall. I could not figure out how to remove it. I called Island Mann, and spoke with the manager, Michael. He advised me of the basic service fee and scheduled someone to come out the same day. Rusty was the tech that arrived. What a nice guy -- arrived on time, was very professional, and did a great job. The price was reasonable as well. I'm very happy with Island Mann and I think I've now found a great plumber for our new house in Galveston.

Service was great. On time and quality work

The water flows through the shower well, but the smell that was present before the cleaning is getting worse by the day. they thought just getting the junk out if it would solve it, but it really didn't.

Rusty was excellent. He explained everything he as doing and why. Showed us every defective part and the new replacement parts. He answered all our questions in a manner we understood. He gave us a cost estimate for each separate project before he started. He is a very knowledgeable and a very personable individual. We highly recommend Island Mann. We have now found our local plumber for all our plumbing needs. Honest, hard working for a fair and reasonable price.

I purchased the promotion in Angie's List of $39 for a Plumbing Service Call as I had a clogged bathroom sink. Raymond showed up on time and as scheduled on a short notice and after a quick review of the problem he started unclogging the drain. He was done in no time and without any mess! He later provided quote for additional services I might be purchasing soon. I did not had to pay anything additional besides the promotional value I paid through Angie's List.

Straightforward service, pleasant and courteous technician, punctual.

looked at a leak under my house (my house on pilings) and after checking attic also, advised how I could do some home tests to try to determine if leak in shower or near washing machine. The serviceman was knowledgeable and helpful in trying to minimize my expenses and any repair costs, which I appreciated.

He did a good job and was on his way I am completely happy with his service will call on them again
