I was impressed with the sales pitch and the estimated cost; they also were the only pool company to offer a list of 6-10 pages of testimonials. I called enough of them to feel comfortable. Things started going wrong from day one; the salesman I worked with (Bill K.) was having marital problems; he abandoned my job after the first day. The day he did come, he found that the sewage line ran through the pool; he found this when he kicked a garbage can lid in the alley. I had already provided the schematic of my property. I had to pay for this. I also had to pay for 2 gates, an electric gate in the back, completely redo the landscaping, and build a new fence. If I had been informed of these expenses, I would have reconsidered my decision. Having NOT been informed was just a taste of what was to come. The long story short: The job took 6 months longer than promised, the job supervisor (Steve B.) was also having some medical problems and called me several times under the influence of psychotropic drugs. He had no memory of these calls. I had a swim jet installed. The owner of the company, Scott Waldo in Houston, recommended a different jet as he thought it was superior, yet when the general manager went to install it, they did not know how. The reason I am writing this is because the jet broke. I contacted Platinum several times to help me and was told to "call the manufacturer" in Florida, which I had already done. I finally contacted an independent pool repairman. (This was approximately the 15th time I had called them for repairs/info). For 3 years, I have met with nothing but resistance, stalling, and lack of cooperation. At the completion of the construction, Mr. Waldo did agree to a $2000 refund, but that was after I had spent $15,000 OVER the original estimate. The company lied to my neighbor, and she turned them in to the BBB. I do love my pool and spa but I have become a pool maintenance and repair expert, learning to correct the chemicals, clean the filters, and change the pool lights among other tasks. I will be happy to talk with anyone about my experience. I do not think I am listed in those offering positive testimonials.
Description of Work: After much research, I hired Platinum to design and build a pool in my back yard.
